To hate Jo Wiley

Not personally obviously, surprisingly enough I don't know her, but I love the Radio 2 Drivetime programme and she is going to ruin it. I find her voice grating, she has a babyish breathy style that is highly irritating. The Drivetime show was perfect and now they have got rid of homework, foody Thursday with Nigel and they are getting rid of MATT!!!! Are they crazy???

I'm all for gender equality but why can't Jo share a show with Steve Wright as his show is already awful.

I know I may be getting this out of proportion but it feels like this show is part of my life and it's just gone.

shes always annoyed me-when interviewing new bands claims shes so into them and tries to be like the cool kids

Simon and Mark Kermode on five live reviewing the films is very good on fridays. I am not a film buff at all and rarely go to the pictures, but i do enjoy this and the presenters clearly like and respect each other. Simon interviews people well, not too much fawning and silliness either and not scared to say if he doesnt like a film that Mark did enjoy. He has a dry wit.
I hope he carries on with that.

YADNBU I used to listen to radio 1 (years ago) and couldn’t stand her then. I remember being annoyed when she moved to radio 2! Thankfully my radio station of choice doesn’t have her but I am annoyed on your behalf, OP.

I’m so annoyed about this that I am actually going to email the controller of BBC Radio 2. Whoever that is. Can you all do the same?

Big back lash on here and on Twitter and on FB last night. Hopefully if enough people make their feelings known they may take some of it on board?

Smidge001 - agree about Jeremy Vine, I can't stand the way he deliberately gets the wrong end of the stick to wind everyone up! His show is much better when Vanessa Feltz presents it.

I am a boring old white person nowadays, but I started listening to R2 some years back during a very dull commute to college, when Wogan won out over R1 for 'company' while driving. Why try to make it more like another station?

And as for Steve Wright and in particular the spectacularly boring FACTOIDS, and unfunny everything, I can never hit the change to another station button quick enough if I make the mistake of hearing even half a second of any of his show ...

Me too, something about that show makes me feel incredibly depressed for some reason.

I love Simon mayo but more a fan of the radio 5 film show with kermode.

Jo whiley is hugely irritating and seems to have no sense of humour.

I once bumped into Steve Lamaq at Glastonbury. It was about 4am and I was somewhat over-refreshed. Apparently I harangued him for some time about whether he could actually stand Jo Wylie because surely he couldn't because he seemed like such a nice man. He was very diplomatic

Ha I love this! Lammo does seem incredibly kind doesn't he. If a bit cringe sometimes.

I can't stand Jo Wiley either, her faux-enthusiasm really grates and her delivery is patronising and sycophantic. Simon Mayo's Confessions, on the other hand, is consistently hilarious, pure comedy gold, and they must not get rid of it!!
