To hate Jo Wiley

Not personally obviously, surprisingly enough I don't know her, but I love the Radio 2 Drivetime programme and she is going to ruin it. I find her voice grating, she has a babyish breathy style that is highly irritating. The Drivetime show was perfect and now they have got rid of homework, foody Thursday with Nigel and they are getting rid of MATT!!!! Are they crazy???

I'm all for gender equality but why can't Jo share a show with Steve Wright as his show is already awful.

I know I may be getting this out of proportion but it feels like this show is part of my life and it's just gone.

TheKitchenWitch It can't be that bad if you are still listening to it. Apart from the two features I mentioned I hate the show and resent the fact we don't have the old show and its features. It makes me sad.

For that reason I don't listen - even though there is no alternative I am happy with.

I didn't like the drive time show before JW and now hate it even more .

JW's voice is beyond irritating.

As annoying as Steve Wright is he plays good music.

Ken Bruce is fucking awful as is Chris Evans

Like others, I've tried. I've given it time, but it's still rubbish.

Derwent nope, I'm listening because it's early days and I keep hoping it will suddenly become brilliant, but alas it's still fucking awful.

I think I will give Richard Allinson a go.

Just been on the PIston Heads site. They think pretty much same as we do and are not mincing their words. Don't suppose anything will change though... bbc not famous for taking feedback on board

Radio 2 have officially lost me as a listener I'm afraid - apart from Johnnie Walker on a Sunday afternoon and I can catch up with that on the iplayer.

This show is absolute crap and it's not getting any better .. it's getting worse because they are clearly 'trying' to lighten it up (probably in view of the criticisms) and at times it's excruciating. Jo Wiley just isn't right for a drive time show. She belongs in the later evenings or some niche spot - she's a sort of modern day Annie Nightingale, and I don't understand why the BBC doesn't embrace that instead of trying to shoehorn her in to the daytime schedule as the token female, ruining what was a perfectly good drive time show in the process.

This was the only 'weekday' Radio 2 show I would listen to apart from a bit of Ken Bruce (Popmaster and Tracks of my Years mainly) but now I can't last more than a few minutes with it!

And did sometime mention Richard Allison? I could never understand why Radio 2 didn't make more of him ... instead of just using him as a stand in. Half the time, I used to enjoy the shows he depped on better with him than with the regular presenter. For me he always gets the right mix of humour / chat and actually playing the music in its entirety - not cutting it short or talking over it and ALWAYS telling you who it's by. The number of times I've heard a record on Radio 2, thought 'I like that' and then the bloody presenter doesn't say who it was by so I end up trawling through the playlists on the Radio 2 website.

I'm going to try 'Magic' as suggested up above.

They're both 'setting the scene' and griping about the aircon. Too hot apparently.

The one good thing is that it continues to 8pm - it used to drive me mad that from 7pm onwards I was forced to listen to niche stuff like jazz or country.

I am finding it a bit forced at the moment - the banter isn't there. I don't mind Jo, but she's a bit po-faced and serious. It might warm up as they get to know each other.

Oh bugger it, can't listen to Magic as outside UK and for some reason I can get every station on the earth except that one. FFS.

Any other recommendations?

@TheKitchenWitch I've gone back to Radio 1. I am way beyond slightly outside of their age demographic but I think Greg James is a good mix of sarcastic and genuinely warm. Reminds me of a solo Mayo.

I'm not going to comment on the music for fear of seeming like an old fart.

Gave it another go today but honestly it was miserable. The pace is too slow , I want to be uplifted after a day at work and it just doesn't do that, you have to work at it and by that time of day I just don't want to have to do that .

What is with the really long really boring interviews?

The people they (she,) interview are not boring as such, but they get nothing out of them, not a single interesting or fun question

You can get Magic online if you can't get it through a radio if that helps. So you could play on phone or tablet.

Given it time, can't bear her bloody patronising tone of voice... Simon and his crew were awesome and this had ruined it. Sorry JW, wrong place, wrong time. Bring back Matt! Have searched high and low for another station....

I agree. Just too slow for that time slot. I do like Jo Wiley just not at drive time. The show is too serious now and I miss the giggles. I used to laugh at Matt laughing at the confessions as much as the confessions themselves. All the fun has gone
