To hate Jo Wiley

Not personally obviously, surprisingly enough I don't know her, but I love the Radio 2 Drivetime programme and she is going to ruin it. I find her voice grating, she has a babyish breathy style that is highly irritating. The Drivetime show was perfect and now they have got rid of homework, foody Thursday with Nigel and they are getting rid of MATT!!!! Are they crazy???

I'm all for gender equality but why can't Jo share a show with Steve Wright as his show is already awful.

I know I may be getting this out of proportion but it feels like this show is part of my life and it's just gone.

It's no good. It's being turned off. Can't concentrate with the drone.

She has a very staccato delivery which doesn’t go at all with Simon’s laid-back style. It’s totally wrong. I don’t want cool new music and worthy reviews, I want a laugh, a bit of chat, I loved the mix of Drivetime with book club, cooking, homework, moshing etc

It’s essentially The Jo Whiley Show with Simon as sidekick. He should tell the bbc to fuck off.

Drivetime was a bit shit but preferable to Jo Wiley. She's a music person and not one I particularly like to listen to. Definitely a try too hard girl. Now I could listen to Coxy 24 hours a day.

I complained a couple of weeks ago. Got a reply that they are confident it will work. Am giving it a week before following it up.

I’m not liking it. It just doesn’t work as a concept.

I quite like Jo Wiley but not this! It doesn't work and it's a stupid idea. Drivetime with Simon Mayo was brilliant - why oh why spoil their best daytime offering?! I appreciate getting a woman in the daytime lineup but in that case be bold, get rid of Steve Wright and have a female presenter in her own right, not as part of a duo.

I think I will add my voice to those contacting the BBC. Anyone know the best contact details for this?

I know there are far bigger issues to get worked up about but this is really annoying me!!

The only decent djs on R2 are Simon Mayo (& co!), Liza Tarbuck & Zoe Ball.

I don’t mind Jo Whiley but there’s just NO chemistry, no banter, all feels too polite and ‘staged’

Their chat just doesn't flow and it feels like Jo is running it and Simon is just someone hanging out in the studio.
Jo keeps interrupting Simon - it's just a cringe fest.
I didn't realise how much I loved the old drive time show ...

I've just used the BBC complaints procedure (the latter one I posted above). Gosh it's long winded, but it's done. It'll be interesting to see what they come back with.

I was just driving home tonight thinking about starting my own thread about this....it's the only weekday show I really like and they've totally spoiled it. It's a shame as I really wanted to support female presenters for the main shows. Sarah Cox is great and I also like Zoe Ball, Claudia and Liza's shows all of whom are much more fun than Jo. And yes it's like the Jo Wiley show with her sidekick Simon Mayo, he's a much better broadcaster imo.

I've had to switch off. She is talking non-stop. This is absolutely her show and those who are predicting that he will leave soon are probably right. I'm going to give it a week, but I don't think I can actually make it to the end of a single show.
I'm downloading Simon's film show podcasts, Mayo & Kermode from Radio5live and will listen to them when I need a fix of the old Simon Mayo.
