To hate Jo Wiley

Not personally obviously, surprisingly enough I don't know her, but I love the Radio 2 Drivetime programme and she is going to ruin it. I find her voice grating, she has a babyish breathy style that is highly irritating. The Drivetime show was perfect and now they have got rid of homework, foody Thursday with Nigel and they are getting rid of MATT!!!! Are they crazy???

I'm all for gender equality but why can't Jo share a show with Steve Wright as his show is already awful.

I know I may be getting this out of proportion but it feels like this show is part of my life and it's just gone.

Wonder if anyone was still listening by the end of it? 3 hours seems like an awfully long time for not very much going on.

My drive home started with Simon and jo but by the time id got down from the 4th floor of the car park and not heard Simon it was Magic all the way home. DP on his way home switched to smooth.

Another one complaining to the BBC too. Why didn't they choose Sara Cox - at least she has a personality and is naturally funny.

What next? Ferne Cotton taking over from Jeremy?

Did anyone else get the impression that Simon thought it was shite too?

Agree with pp, leave Simon's show alone and rip apart Steve Wright's useless, waste of space programme.

They were guests on Chris Evans this morning, and I got the distinct impression then that Simon wasn't too impressed about having to share - not unreasonably. 'Jokey' questions about how Jo would be in charge, she'd always be right, etc, didn't seem to be well received.
Think I'll be re-tuning after 5 from now on - in fact probably before, so I can kill two birds with one stone and avoid Wrighty too.

Another gutted regular listener of BBC radio 2 and drivetime. Couldn't believe it when they announced they were butchering changing the show a while back and now it's just awful. I didn't listen last week when Simon was off and tonight I listened and all I heard was Jo, Jo, Jo. The slot with B. Cumberbatch seemed to be over before it had started?! And I wasn't taken with the jeuvenile "all our guests get a badge!! Choose a badge!!!" thing

I always listen while I'm cooking dinner, doing the evening tidy round.

Listened for a bit but it wasn't good, no chemistry between them at all. Turned it off.
Need to find a new radio station

It was awful but if was their first show.

I’m not interested in JW but I love Simon Mayo and being shunted across to share the driving seat on a prime time show tells me the powers that be want to ease him out gradually.

I listened to a bit in the kitchen tonight. There was a lot of Jo's voice and a rather sad sounding Simon - I miss Matt & Bobbie!!!

I give it six months before Simon leaves Jo to it on Drivetime.

I couldn't last through three hours. What a flat, turgid show.

If ratings plummet, will they reinstate old format? Wishful thinking ...

I don’t know why they would want to ease Simon out though. He is the best thing about radio 2. Get rid of bloody Steve Wright. I have to turn off if I hear his voice.

Couldn't agree more about Steve Wright. Why does he think we want to hear him singing over every song. Annoying and puerile.

I don't hate Jo Whiley at all but I didn't think that was a good show today, and I turned it off at at seven o'clock. Although Simon did seem marginalised and as if his heart wan't totally in it, it's only fair to give the show time. I'll listen again on Friday to see what all request Friday is like, but for the Mon-Thurs I think I'll tune back in in a couple of months and see if it has improved.

I just fail to see what has been gained by messing with what was a fabulous drivetime show with Simon and the team.

What's the thinking behind this double act?
Both fully competent on doing their own shows.
They didnt' sound to have that 'connection', wont be many laughs.

I like them both but Simon has a radio marriage already with Mark Kemode.

Give Simon or Jo the slot Steve Wright has and kill Sunday Love Songs off

I love both Simon and Jo on their respective shows. I don't know why they have merged them.

It certainly isn't about improving diversity. Taking a woman off her own daily show and putting her on jointly with someone else seems a backward step. If they wanted to improve diversity they would have given Jo (or Sara) a primetime daily show. Preferably in place of the dreadful Steve Wright. Or they could have given Ken a co host to make up for the loss of Lynne. Or better still given a serious journalist (not feltz) Jeremy Vine's show.

Well that was bad. I loved the old show. Won't be listening to this again. Can't believe they've ditched all the features and Matt. Idiots.

Absolutely awful today. Not sure I can bear to listen tomorrow.

They've fundamentally misunderstood what people want at drivetime. I don't want some intellectual luvvie fest, I want to switch my brain off, have a laugh, sing along to some shite and enjoy the triv the Twogle search engine provided.
