To hate Jo Wiley

Not personally obviously, surprisingly enough I don't know her, but I love the Radio 2 Drivetime programme and she is going to ruin it. I find her voice grating, she has a babyish breathy style that is highly irritating. The Drivetime show was perfect and now they have got rid of homework, foody Thursday with Nigel and they are getting rid of MATT!!!! Are they crazy???

I'm all for gender equality but why can't Jo share a show with Steve Wright as his show is already awful.

I know I may be getting this out of proportion but it feels like this show is part of my life and it's just gone.

I like Vanessa Feltz very much, she always sounds so warm and genuine.
Jeremy Vine is there to do what he does - provoke. I never get any feeling of what he’s actually like.

I’m dreading Monday. blacklist I also get pissed off when SM is on holiday, most of the stand ins have been dire. I quite liked Amol though.

I can't stand Amol. Fail to understand how he has become quite so high profile when he doesn't come across as natural, sincere or very bright.

Amol always seems like he’s trying hard, but he’s always talking over his interviewees (and then saying “sorry for interrupting!”) and it really grates on me.

OP I agree completely. She ruined a few festivals for me many years ago, with her stupid fake breathy voice coming over the tannoy.

Re female DJs generally, I like Lauren Laverne, Vanessa Feltz, and Cerys Matthews. Can't stand Mary Anne Hobbs.

Also can't stand the Northern blokey boring blatherers - Mark and Lard, Radcliffe and Maconie. Boring AF.

Gutted about the show changing and I'll really miss Matt, however I'll give the new show a chance. For the life of me I cant see how it will be as good as Simon's show on his own, but you never know. I used to listen to Jo Whiley on Radio 1 and I quite like her but I don't see how she and Simon will work together. Jo was on last week for a few minutes and there wasn't a huge amount of chemistry.

@Pinga Each to their own but Liza Tarbuck is one of the worst radio presenters I have ever heard! And I really do mean that - it's not some throwaway internet comment. Listening to her makes me think literally anybody could present a radio show with a bit of training.

We LOVE Liza Tarbuck's show. It started as a joke, as our son used to go mental if she was on the radio in the car on a Saturday evening. So of course, we made sure she was on whenever possible.

But over time, we have become genuine fans. She is so funny and quirky.

I always think Liza Tarbuck sounds like she’s drunk while presenting her show - totally rambling and random.

Ugh Tarbuck. She really does find herself sooooo amusing doesn't she (I'm dead wacky I am) and her music choice is so try hard and wanky

This thread has really bothered me today, and I really hope the poster who said they're keeping Confessions is right! I had no idea this was changing, how have I missed that???? I head to the kitchen for confessions, it's my cue to get tea on! Love Simon Mayo, not a fan of Jo Whiley, but will keep listening for now and see how it goes.....

Cannot bear Jo "Hey, I'm just chillin' out with the band" Whiley. Her and Fiona Bruce both trained at The High School of Husky Voices & Tousled Hair.

Simon Mayo is fine without a co host like that. Confessions is my favourite thing. I hate the way she talks about fstivals (no e in it when she says it) and she’s so pretentious. Not happy about this combo at all.

I usually like change, or at least am happy to give it a go, but having read that bumpf I won't be tuning in Sad

The show was good. An excellent mix of talk, music and features. Just right for the long commute home. Now I think I'll be learning Mandarin. I have no need to learn Mandarin and I'm crap at languages, but it sounds more fun than what the Beeb has planned.

The new sports presenter kept making mistakes when she was reading. Why did they get rid of Matt?
I thought Simon sounded quite sarcastic to Jo on a promo tape on Friday. I don't know why they've put her on the show. A bit of a kick in the teeth for Simon.
I can't stand the way Amol, kept talking about millions of people listening.

I think she’s fabulous! I’ve listened to her for years, I think she has amazing style, she’s funny. Big thumbs up for Jo Wiley here!

I'll be tuning in with trepidation tomorrow; saw a brief interview thing they did the other day and really, why have they put these two together? They have nothing at all in common, it's bizarre.

I can only hear Jo whiley and of course playing florence and the machine! Not heard much from Simon yet, I think the reasons are financial
