Would you be pissed off if your partner went to one of these sleazy places? Am I overreacting to be pissed off about dh going to one when he knew I'd be cross about it ? I'm not hopping mad but I'm certainly very unimpressed!

Idontdowindows · 30/04/2018 19:34

Jeez you lot, give him a break FGS.

Oh look, another man coming to tell us silly wimmins we're hysterical.

Mightymucks · 30/04/2018 19:34

I wouldn’t object if they had muscly oiled up young men called Brad doling out chicken wings in budgie smugglers and a tighty whitey as well as the girls...but they don’t.

Helmetbymidnight · 30/04/2018 19:35

Beerbellybaz and homebrew dave?

Hmm

Where's Lagerlovinglenny?

MillicentF · 30/04/2018 19:39

“Ah well if the chicken wings are good...”

And it’s always close to the hotel.

KnightofWands · 30/04/2018 19:40

It's a diverse and interesting place, that's why I like it.

Except it isn't, is it? The waitresses all have to be a certain body type (no diversity allowed) a certain age (no diversity allowed) have a certain type of hairstyle (no diversity allowed) and present themselves in a very specific way (no diversity allowed).

More nonsense!

Have folk looked at the general requirements for cabin staff mandated by most airlines? Sounds about the same! So...not acceptable for a restaurant / bar (that appears to have waning appeal but apparently great chicken wings) but no problems with airlines?

If the place doesn't appeal (which it doesn't to me) then don't go but let its patrons and employees in peace and forget all this nonsense about how its spawn of Satan

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 30/04/2018 19:41

Where's Lagerlovinglenny?

He's meeting PintLovingPrick at Hooters probably. A real catch, every one of him.

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 30/04/2018 19:42

Millicent I have just read the whole thread and your 'close to the hotel' comments have me absolutely howling.

Right, I'll admit, I clicked the link and looked and the menu and it looks awesome, I was drooling...but no, I'd rather not go there. It does objectify women whether people admit that or not. I think taking kids there is weird.

ArcheryAnnie · 30/04/2018 19:42

are just normal waitresses

@Ansumpasty do "normal waitresses" have to sign a disclaimer saying "you must also state that you do not find your job duties, uniform requirements or work environment to be offensive, intimidating, hostile or unwelcome"?

Do "normal waitresses" have to brace themselves to feel this as a result of waiting tables? The result is that many waitresses working in breastaurants have reported experiencing feelings of depression, anxiety, anger, and a sense of degradation.

NormskiNamechange · 30/04/2018 19:44

What does ‘letting off steam’ entail exactly?

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 30/04/2018 19:44

forget all this nonsense about how its spawn of Satan

Oh, I see. Okay everyone. Let's forget this nonsense about women being objectified and so on. Airlines do it too! Except they don't! But don't worry because that's just a detail! And who needs those when you've got chicken wings and women in hardly any clothes to 'enjoy'?

Women and their silly worries, eh?

DannyLaRuesBestFrock · 30/04/2018 19:46

I cannot believe that people think this sexist bullshit is okay!!!! What decade are we in?

Men go there to leer at the scantily dressed women. End of story.

If you think that having a restaurant that hires women only to wear short, tight outfits to tittilate 'men' like homebrew Dave, is fine, then I really despair.

When women's sole purpose of being there, is to be leered at, being accepting of sexual and lewd comments as part of their job, then what the fuck.

Of course it's fucking sexist and I can't understand how other women are defending it.

ShirleyValentineswall · 30/04/2018 19:47

Lol not at all, I've joined just to give a male perspective on a few things.

Oh good, my second reason to post this today.

Kettlepotblack · 30/04/2018 19:47

YANBU in my view. Of course it contributes to the whole culture of continuing the sexualisation of women, and all the 'oh it's a bit of harmless fun' comments are too. Calling a restaurant Hooters and having girls wear skimpy outfit IS the brand, it's the normalisation of women as sexual objects - but you're a party pooper if you dare point this out...? And the 'just don't go there' comments are no better. I wouldn't go there and I wouldn't be happy if my husband did either, but I can still comment on the fact that they exist and are part of and a reflection of the whole picture of the normalisation of women's objectification.

ShirleyValentineswall · 30/04/2018 19:48

A real catch, every one of him. Grin

gawdsake · 30/04/2018 19:50

Lol @beerbellybaz! You're clearly new here!

Thank the good lord you came along with your male perspective an' all that. We were totally lost without you Hmm

When men don't see the problem with the objectification of women, and worse still, women don't then we are genuinely screwed as a society.

gawdsake · 30/04/2018 19:52

Oh ffs @HomebrewDave.

Suppose you're ok with your missus ogling scantily dressed blokes then? Suppose you're fine with your daughters aspiring to be a hooters waitress?

Mmmm ok then.

Kettlepotblack · 30/04/2018 19:54

and worse still, women don't then we are genuinely screwed as a society.

So true. Makes me genuinely sad to read some of these comments.

SmileEachDay · 30/04/2018 19:54

Hooters should rename themselves Wingz

As, y’know, that’s why everyone goes there. Confused

gawdsake · 30/04/2018 19:56

Lol Wingz!!!

They is the schizz dizz Grin

ArcheryAnnie · 30/04/2018 19:57

KnightOfWands I judge any place that emphasises the perceived youth/attractiveness/sexiness of its women employees rather than their ability to do the job. That goes for chain restaurants, airlines, wherever.

Also your whataboutery is transparent.

Kettlepotblack · 30/04/2018 19:57

Wingz GrinGrinGrinGrin

JAPAB · 30/04/2018 19:57

They're in vest tops and short shorts with tights.
Still, thje clothes will flatter, enhance or emphaise their natural attractivness, no dount. Which is a big no no.

lardymclardy · 30/04/2018 19:59

Are you Samantha Brick Grinandtonic?

SmileEachDay · 30/04/2018 20:02

Oh JAPAB It’s always so much not a complete waste of time discussing women’s rights with you.
