I am watching the Invitation to a Royal Wedding Angry. Why do I not have a police escort for my weekly flowers? I want a castle and factories to make my favourite cake Angry

It’s not fair. I want a lot of money and a privelaged lifestyle Angry

Your friends don't call you a cheeky fucker if you send a list of the foods you love/hate ahead of your visit. They will bend over backwards to make it perfect for you and feel grateful you choose to spend time with them.

Agree I'd rather be a minor royal. I bet Lady Louise and VS James are about the right place. Titled, rich but far enough down the line to have an ordinary upper class rich life

Yes, I bet the queen wishes she could do data entry for 8 hours a day or work in a factory herself. Instead she has to go somewhere different every day and have people suck up to her.

Exactly Gwen. If she, or more likely Prince Charles is bored rigid meeting the plebs or opening a factory it's only because they have never really experienced the alternative. They know exactly what side their bread is buttered on. We could easily have a ceremonial President, similar to the RoI if they decided to quit without much disruption. But that would not guarantee their children untold riches forevermore. So they cling on, telling everyone how terrible it is but how they do it for the greater good!

River that's the other thing. They don't have to do it. The queen can abdicate, lesser royals can opt out and they would if it was that bad.

I couldn't be a queen, having so much while so many have fuck all. Particularly the homeless, i couldn't sleep in one of my many palaces with hundreds of empty bedrooms while people freeze to death in the streets. But then i've got a conscience.

If it was such a hard life as so many try and imply the queen would have stood down years ago, and it's bollocks to suggest she does it out of a sense of duty. No chance, she enjoys her super privileged life, her aim is to ensure the survival of the con monarchy at all costs.

Yes I bet for all the rumours of Charles wanting to slim down the monarchy to just the monarch and the heirs family, once he twigs that that means Harry and his family, Charlotte and baby Louis will have to make their own way in the world, he'd reconsider. I'll be sitting somewhere watching the royal Wedding with all the monarchists but to pretend they're there for anyone's benefit but their own is ludicrous. Someone called them the nation's pets once. I think that's right. They get pampered and petted in return for providing us with some much needed entertainment. That's it really.

Last year (the Crown Estate) gave £328.8 million to the treasury whilst the Royal Family cost £33.3 million. So their contribution is far in excess of their costs

Give them their due, the palace PR machine is pretty good in getting folk to believe what they're said to cost ... but then they should be, after all the practice they've had

Even the briefest reading instantly blows a hole in that "£33 million" - quite a large hole, actually

Actually, I want to be Kate Middleton who pops out another baby every time she’s told she’s got to go back to “work”. - but then, maybe not. She’s got her cake but she can’t eat it.
