Houses without a bath tub

A lot of houses seem to only have showers these days and no bath tub.

This is a definite no no for me, I like baths and surely it would be hard to wash children with just a shower.

It’s so frustrating so see a nice house with just a shower. Sure, could always put a bath in but not something I wouldn’t want to redecorate the bathroom immediately after moving in.

Would you buy a house without a tub?

I wouldn't. Apart from little Gdcs staying now and then, I enjoy a bath every few days. We have 2 baths with good showers over, so you can rinse yourself off after a soak. Dh only has a bath once in a blue moon, though.

Mind you I'd never want one of those freestanding baths - I know they look 'stylish' and all that, but there's nowhere to put anything, and you can't rinse yourself off afterwards.

When dd1 was very little we had no bath for quite a while - it was a complete PITA trying to wash her in the shower. Apart from anything else, little ones usually love playing in the bath.

We rent a house with only a shower. Bathing DD has never been an issue. When she was tiny she went in the kitchen sink and now we just plonk the baby bath in the shower tray and she has a splashy fun time. The baby bath is foldable so it stashes away no trouble. We cope and I have no plans on moving. Certainly not for a bath anyway.

To be honest I found that when we did have a bath that I'd spend all this time running the bath, then when I'd got in it I just wanted to get clean and get out, which I found to be wasteful really. I'm very much a shower person.

I would find it hard without a bath for ds because he’s too big for a baby bath but not big/old enough to take a shower.

He also loves playing in the bath and it’s great that he has plenty of room

I hate baths so it wouldn't bother me. We're about to replace our bath with a walk in shower. We live in a one bedroom maisonette though so it's not as though anyone with children would be interested in buying it.

Nope, definitely not. A separate bath and shower in the master ensuite is absolutely essential. I love relaxing in luxurious oils.

I have 3-4 baths a year and shower the rest of the time but when we were househunting recently I did turn my nose up at houses that didn't have a bath. I would buy a house if I could put one back in and the rest of the house was perfect.

We re-did our bathroom about 10 years ago, and still have a big bath, plus a large walk in shower, but only my DS has ever used the bath. DH and I, and all our visitors seem to prefer to shower. I'd miss the big heated towel rail much, much more.
