Gogglebox - Giles & Mary (lighthearted)

I LOVE Giles and Mary, but why does Craig Cash always refer to them as 'Giles...and his wife Mary?' Even if it's Mary that's making a point, she always comes second. AIBU to think it should, sometimes be 'Mary...and her husband Giles?' Grin

We like reading Mary’s Advice column in the Spectator. Some of the problems are ridiculous and hilarious and her responses are great.

It’s a bit of an aside, but I thought tonight’s episode had a bit of a mean tone to it. Lots of making fun of people’s accents and facial expressions. That’s not witty or clever it’s just a bit mean.

I miss Steph and Dom.

Ooh we love them! HATED them at first, then realised they're very funny and now they're our absolute favourites. Love the Siddiquis too - I was watching in All4 or something last night and middle Siddiqui was playing Elvis on a guitar and they were all singing along. It was amazing! Totally unexpected and brilliant!
Can't stand the Michaels either. The son's VOICE! Makes me want to cut my ears off.

i don't think i've ever hated anyone on TV as much as i hate Giles. Mary isn't so bad (although i kind of hate her for still being with him), but Giles is the most try hard, unfunny, nauseating man.

I adore the siddiquis. William and Mary too. A few years ago I went to the b&b of the really posh couple who used to be on there (who drank loads) now that was a fun weekend!

Can't stand the sneering siblings either or those two ridiculous girls.

Love the Welsh accents from Camarthen (I think?).

Jenny and Lee are lovely.

I hate the brother and sister. They are generally just very mean spirited about everyone. And not at all funny.

The Michaels are AWFUL! Just awful. Shrieking, squealing awful. I didn’t used to like the family with the two sons and the dogs but I have warmed to them. And the German Dad makes me laugh so much

The only ones I really dislike are the brother and sister. Nasty, snide and unsavoury.

The sisters just seem a bit daft and harmless. But that brother and sister just came over as unkind. I haven’t watched it for months and months and I used to love it. Tonight’s was a disappointment

Blimey, the Michaels. Shrieky son, mum’s frightful lipstick and oily UKIPpy dad. There is way too much hammy shrieking on gogglebox in general.

Don't like the Michaels new decor!!

Ellie & Izzy's accents grate on me...sorry anyone from Leeds but they just seem so over the top!

Have to agree, the sisters although annoying are quite harmless but the brother and sister wow! They manage to be unkind about almost everyone! I really miss Leon and June Sad

I never noticed before, but even so, I have to say it doesn't bother me.

I like all the people on gogglebox, except for the annoying siblings from Blackpool.

Her ridiculous irritating fake laugh really fucks me off.

I miss Scarlett on there.

I love the Siddiquis. I hope my sons have as good a relationship with their dad when they're older. They were playing board games the other day which made me smile.

I really can't stand the Brexity family. The dad looks confused and angry at everything.

Oh! I totally forgot about Leon Sad I hope June’s ok. And I agree about Stephen not being funny without Chris. He was always a bit acerbic but Chris was sweet so it balanced. Again, he just seems mean now

I miss George - his mum does make me laugh sometimes though!

That time when Dave the dog knocked the dad over! I didn't want to laugh but couldn't help it!

I also love Mary & Giles...I like most of them. Can't bear the Michaels though and I loathe the creepy smug brother & sister.
