MY DD 4 year old said I didn't need to get her anything for her birthday because she thought we couldn't afford it.

My 3 year old told me "mummy when I'm big and you're little, I will look after you".

My eldest when aged about 9 asked if we could adopt an orphan for Christmas as they don't have family of their own to love them. He had given up asking for a brother or sister but little did he know I was finally pregnant and hadn't told him yet.

My 7yo DS Daddy died suddenly last week, he has melted my heart on multiple occasions in the last 10 days but the one that really got me was when we went outside so he could choose a star that was Daddy. We’d been out a couple of times and he said Daddy wasn’t one of them. On the third day he pointed at one we hadn’t seen before and said ‘that’s him, I just know. I can feel it in my heart’ then he put my hand on his chest and his little heart was racing and we stood in the night just having a cuddle looking at the sky.

At Christmas my DS (5) was a bit upset. When I asked him he said that he was worried. I asked him why and he said that Santa had bought him things that he hadn't asked for, and he was worried that they should have gone to other children and that they might not have any presents.

Every time he tells me, that he loves me my heart melts.

theressomethingaboutmarie · 27/04/2018 14:16

My 5-year-old DS told me that he loves me so much that he's quite sure that he loves me more than he loves himself. I melted on the spot.

Thanksforthatamazingpost · 27/04/2018 14:24

“You are. In fact possibly better”

MoonshineBabe · 27/04/2018 14:30

When we bought ds2 home from hospital the very first thing 3 year old ds1 said to him was "welcome to our family ds2!"
Heart well and truly melted...

When my 12 year old nephew was 6, I asked him if he’d ever be too old for cuddles - “I don’t think so, not for cuddles from you, but I probably won’t be able to sit on your lap anymore” was his reply. He’s still quite a ‘huggy’ boy now, and he’s almost as tall as me.

My 4 year old nephew frequently tells me he loves me and that he’s missed me when I go to visit (they live in a different town). The most heartwarming is when he suddenly pulls my face in for a hug or kiss and tells me he loves me so much. There have been two times when I’ve been watery eyed - once when he told me, “I really do miss you so much when you’re not here” and when he tried to convince me to stay another night when I was leaving - “but I don’t want you to leave, I love you and I miss you when you’re not here - can’t you just stay here forever, you can sleep in my bed, I’ll sleep with ”. He meant it too, which considering I’d spend the better part of the afternoon ‘disagreeing’ with him meant a lot!!

My niece gave me a picture on which she’d written, “you are my faivrut persun” (she’s 5). I suspect it was because I let her use the patterned paper, paper punches and glue stick, but I’ll take it anyway! Grin

Lovely thread.

My 21 year old DD gave me a book called 'Things I love about my Mum'
It is arranged in sections, and she wrote about lots of memories of when she was little, added lots in about my personality, times she was proud of me, times I made things better for her, how I've helped her, things she's learned from me...

It's is THE BEST present ever, and I shed a few (hundred) tears when I first read it!

MrsEricBana · 27/04/2018 16:17

These are all so lovely.
This morning I sat on the edge of the bed beside my big gym going 17 year old and hugged him tight through the duvet. I leant forward and kissed him on the side of his head and said "I love you son" and without moving or opening his eyes he muttered "I love you SO much mum". Sob.
(I did it to dd too and she said "Geroff!!" 😂)

SunwheretheFareyou · 27/04/2018 16:53

Flowers matilda.

Beautiful.

Everytimeref · 27/04/2018 17:04

My grandad bought me a pair of gold earrings before he died. Sadly they were stolen. That Christmas both my boys ( 10 and 12 at time) used their pocket money to buy me a pair of earing as similar as they could find to the ones stolen. Lot of tears that day!

FoodGloriousFud · 27/04/2018 19:08

onefootinthegrave · 27/04/2018 20:14

Thanks FoodGloriousFud I'm hoping I've attached it here properly. It's priceless to me!

My twin nieces were about 3 when they kept using their made-up word 'moska' to describe things. Moska Mummy, moska Auntie JRTT etc. I asked them what moska meant and one of them looked at me and said 'it means something is really really special'. Love them!

imeatingaburger · 27/04/2018 20:32

this is outing but I am changing my name right now. It was wonderful hearing my sons words and we have been through so much like many parents who have children with allergies.

fabulousfrumpyfeet · 27/04/2018 21:08

Ds1 when he was 5 said, 'when I'm big i want to go to.university', great, I thought, aspirations already...'so I can be with you all day' (I work at a university), so I explained when he's big he might like to get married and then he wouldn't want to be with me so much, 'I'll just marry you'.

fabulousfrumpyfeet · 27/04/2018 21:10

And ds2, who is just 4. We were admiring a vase of daffodils which had just bloomed, all except from one. Ds was struggling to find his words to describe that one, and finally settled on 'that one hasn't growed up yet'.

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 27/04/2018 21:22

DP and DS (3) were talking about his elderly and ill dad. DS asked if he would die and DP said, “one day.” DS then said he would run super fast like Dash (from The Incredibles) and find him ❤️

Theinconstantgardener · 27/04/2018 21:27

Iv always taught my sons to be grateful and say thanks. We couldnt afford much when tjey were kids. Theyre grown men now( still say thanks Mum!) but when ds2 was about 6 he thanked me for his new school socks. It nearly broke my heart.

onefootinthegrave · 27/04/2018 21:28

steff13 · 27/04/2018 21:32

My daughter wrote this on the front page of the notepad I use to make notes during my hearings. I took it out of my laptop bag and found it. I keep it in the front pocket of my folder. She was 6 when she wrote it.

I was feeling so depressed one day I had to ask DH to come home from work early because I felt I couldn't take proper care of DS (just under 2). When DH got home I started sobbing as I tried to explain my state of mind. DS came over to be picked up, looked straight into my eyes and wiped the tears off my cheeks. He is such a kind, kind little boy.

PeonyTruffle · 27/04/2018 21:45

My 3yr old tells me that when he’s a big boy, he will never ever ever have a girlfriend because he will only love mummy forever, he’s so affectionate and I love having a little cuddly sidekick

The way his little hand reaches for mine when we are walking somewhere is my favourite thing
