MY DD 4 year old said I didn't need to get her anything for her birthday because she thought we couldn't afford it.

DS1 was 5 when DS2 was born and we were a little worried he would miss having us to himself. The day we came home from hospital loads of family descended to meet new baby and I was feeling a bit overwhelmed so nipped into my room for a minute. DS1 followed me in and we had a little weep in each other’s arms. I thought he was crying because DS2 was getting so much attention but he smoothed my hair back and said ‘don’t worry mama these are tears of joy’ I am crying remembering that !! He is an enormous teenager now but still a sensitive soul.
Love all these sweet stories.

Spanneroo · 27/04/2018 09:58

My DD1 regularly makes me cry a bit from sheer love for her. She's the kindest sweetest kid I've ever known.

The best one I think we've had, which brought me to tears mere moments after giving birth (She witnessed the birth of our second when she was almost 3): Upon seeing her baby sister emerge, she burst into tears and said "Mummy I see the beautiful baby. I'm a big sister now!"

A few days ago I hurt my back really badly and even walking was painful let alone picking up DS, age 21 months. DH was away and I had no one to help me with him that evening. He is normally a real handful at bedtime and will resist every stage, and much prefers to practice forward rolls on the bed to getting his nappies and pyjamas on. That night he was as good as gold and sat perfectly still whilst I dressed him and even climbed up onto my lap with his sleeping bag which had fallen on the floor. He was so obviously trying his best to help me out.

I struggle with cysts on my ovaries and have had to have quite a few operations. My DH is amazing looking after our 3 DDs while I recover but one day while my DH was having a quick nap my DD 3 told me “don’t worry mummy I’ll look after you, daddy needs to rest too. I will never leave you” I think about that all the time! It’s so nice to know we have brought up such a caring little girl even through such struggles ❤️

Figmentofimagination · 27/04/2018 10:31

DS is nearly 1. No matter what he is doing - playing, eating, sat in his bouncer - he will reach over to me to hold my hand for a moment and then continue with what he is doing.

Gingerninj · 27/04/2018 10:47

One morning when I was pregnant with my youngest I woke up to DS putting his hand on my bump, he then told me all about how he was going to look after his sister. He's kept his word although he does get annoyed with her sometimes he's always so sweet

Gingerninj · 27/04/2018 10:49

I also had many moments like that with my oldest DD before DS was born. I forget how sweet they can be sometimes

RedHelenB · 27/04/2018 10:53

When we entered Disney land Paris and dd1 looked around and took it all in then slipped her hand in mine and said thank you.

tellitlikeitispls · 27/04/2018 11:03

My 8 year old does it all the time. He's just such a lovely person. I was an ungrateful little sod when I was his age.
He never complains about anything generally, but he'd asked if we'd get him a new mattress as his was a bit uncomfortable. (he always gets the hand me downs, including stuff like bedding)
When it came he was beside himself. He kept saying, "mummy thank you so much. This is the best mattress ever. It was so nice of you to get it for me. I love it. Its so comfy. My teddies love it too. Thank you " He's just so grateful for stuff that the rest of us take for granted.

These are so sweet Flowers

astoundedgoat · 27/04/2018 11:17

7yo dd2 brought home a large copy book from school because it was full, and on every third or fourth page was written I LOVE [9yo DD1's name] so much!!!!!! or I love to play with [9yo DD1's name] she is my favourite person I LOVE HER!! and so on with hearts and fireworks all around etc. It would break your heart.

They both used to want to marry me when they were smaller. They've dimly realised now that most people don't marry their Mummies actually, sadly, so it looks like I'll just have to stay married to DH after all.

Moominfan · 27/04/2018 11:25

Not a child but a service user of mine

Me - "what do you like about christmas"

Him- "it makes other people happy"

Shouldn't have favourites but he just the kindest sole and I'm so lucky i got to work for him, loved that job.

MissWilmottsGhost · 27/04/2018 11:26

Recently I went away for a conference for a few days and DD (6) was a bit sad I would be away. So she decided to make something for me to take in case I missed her.

She drew, cut out and coloured in a big medal for me, on one side it says GOLD MEDLE and on the other "mummy I love you so very much".

I might keep it forever Smile

beargryllshasabigrope · 27/04/2018 11:29

Yesterday my DS aged 6 was a bit upset and teary as he'd been in trouble. DS aged 2 sees it as very important to try and make his older bother happy when he's sad, so he asked if he wanted him to sing DS6 a song, which DS6 said yes.

DS2 stood in front of him and sang the most beautiful rendition of twinkle twinkle little star and DS6 just watched him with a little smile on his face. It was so lovely, they love each other so much.

threelittledinosaurs · 27/04/2018 11:36

DS (3) is ASD and speech delayed. He will occasionally kiss me on the cheek after gazing at me for a while, which melts my heart. He also rubs my 'sore toe' as I have arthritis in my feet. He's a dream Smile.

Aeroflotgirl · 27/04/2018 11:43

My Autistic dd 11 who has learning difficulties, and is emotionally detached recently sat next to me, put her arm round me,and asked me how I was. Such little thing, but I was stumped.

Smeddum · 27/04/2018 12:47

@Aeroflotgirl that’s beautiful Smile I’ve had chats with you before (different username) and I know how special that moment must have been!

ChunckyMonkey · 27/04/2018 13:10

These are all touching memories :)

Thanks very much smeddum, it was lovely, she does not do this often, but it is the little things.

Smeddum · 27/04/2018 13:23

@Aeroflotgirl it’s the little things that are often the biggest though eh? Smile

Aeroflotgirl · 27/04/2018 13:26

It is isent it😃

BillyAndTheSillies · 27/04/2018 13:30

I had my first spontaneous "love you mummy" this week when I dropped DS at Nursery.
Usually he'll say it if I say it first, but this was a full on arms wrapped around my knees "I love you mummy!". I walked out of Nursery crying.

If I ask him what he's making in his little kitchen he'll often respond "breakfast in bed for mummy - your favourite!". Always makes me smile.

mavismcruet · 27/04/2018 13:47

A very old member of the family died recently. I didn’t take the kids to the funeral. When I got back it was obvious I’d been crying. My dd(7) flung her arms around me and said “don’t cry Mummy, X still loves you even though she is dead”

Totsntantrums · 27/04/2018 13:53

After picking him up and spinning him around my DS 4 said “Mummy when i am older and bigger, I will be able to pick you up and spin you around”

Bea1985 · 27/04/2018 14:00

I'm in tears !
