It's tipped to be the new prince's name. I know we're all supposed to love old men's names but Arthur is just too awful.

Come on Kate & Will - you know you want to call him Milo or Ryan. Just do it!

Leopold was not a nice man Hmm

BagelGoesWalking · 25/04/2018 18:18

😬 to see the Last Kingdom references on here (was there ever a more handsome man as Uhtred?)

My father was Arthur Alfred, poor thing!

SunshineAllTheWhile · 25/04/2018 18:20

@SomeKindOfGenius That is amazing 😂 Going to be making me chuckle for a while that.

Kitty6 · 25/04/2018 18:23

I hope you are joking about Milo & Ryan...chavtastic

Littlemissamy · 25/04/2018 18:23

I’m rootibg for Keanu, personally!

sweatylemon · 25/04/2018 18:24

I'm still sticking with:
Alexander. Possibly Henry, Charles or James as a middle name

lily2403 · 25/04/2018 18:30

I like Arthur it’s a lovely name

CoolCarrie · 25/04/2018 18:37

Alexander Philip Micheal has a nice ring to it, and at least Kate’s father would get a mention.
Arthur and Albert remind me of Eastenders, Steptoe And Son, and Minder, as well as genital piercing.

BuntyII · 25/04/2018 18:39

@Undercoverbanana we know Hmm

Undercoverbanana · 25/04/2018 18:47

BuntyII - I was replying to someone upthread who was askin* why ut might not be timely to chose Alfred. I’m glad you knew, but it seems that some hadn’t made the link. 🧐

DaveswifeDawn · 25/04/2018 18:49

They will have had a name picked beforehand but William apparently likes to exercise a bit of control over the media. Like when they didn't announce George's arrival until several hours after the birth.

They already know he's going to be called Bowie.

SenecaFalls · 25/04/2018 18:50

I really don't think they will use Alexander considering that it's one of George's names.

Rockhopper81 · 25/04/2018 18:53

I love the name Arthur and don’t want them to choose it as I’ll have to remove it from my list due to the (inevitable) thousands of ‘Arthur’s we will then have.

I knew what a Prince Albert was and still hasn’t put it together until I read it here. Blush

MargotLovedTom1 · 25/04/2018 18:55

Undercoverbanana I can't see your emoji on my device, but just in case it's an eye rolling or sarcastic one: I hadn't made the link because not once has Alfie Evans been referred to as Alfred. Alfie is practically a name in its own right these days. Also, my post at 18:12 explains why I don't think it's relevant anyway.

HesterShaw · 25/04/2018 19:01

He shall be known as Brian that is called Brian.

Cominghomenothome · 25/04/2018 19:01

Bets have been suspended on the name Alexander

RoseWhiteTips · 25/04/2018 19:01

I was also unaware of the “connection” The child at Alder Hey is Alfie which is his name. It is a name in its own right after all.
They will choose Alfred if they wish.

willynillypie · 25/04/2018 19:06

Rockhopper81

Exactly why I am dreading it being Frederick, and we have already had the fucking nursery furniture painted with this name!

LaurieMarlow · 25/04/2018 19:10

They better not use Alexander. DS2 is due in 4 weeks and it's our front runner. I don't want a royal surge.

LondonJax · 25/04/2018 19:10

I think it might be Arthur.

We would have had a King Arthur in our (real) history if Henry VIII older brother had lived. He was Prince of Wales so you have the connection there with Charles.

And the other titles William and Kate include the Earl and Countess of Strathearn. Queen Victoria's son, Arthur, was Duke of Connaught and Strathearn. His son was Prince Arthur. So it's a very recent royal name.

I don't think James will be used because Kate's brother and brother in law are both James's.

ObiJuanKenobi · 25/04/2018 19:20

If it's Louis will it be pronounced Lewis or Lewie? I'm never sure

DaveswifeDawn · 25/04/2018 19:20

I don't think it will influence what people call their babies. Not many Dianas born after 1980.

SelkieUnderLand · 25/04/2018 19:20

Willynillypie, use it anyway, I didn't use it 12 years ago because Freddie Flintoff whose real name is Andrew won bbc sportsman of the year. It's a great name! I should have used it. Perhaps.

DickensianHysteric · 25/04/2018 19:21

If they do choose Alexander (which I doubt) it would show a serious lack of forward planning to use all their favourite names on DC1!

SelkieUnderLand · 25/04/2018 19:22

I think it influences people if the name was on the way up the charts (cyclically) anyway

Eg, Victor is a good example of a name that IF the royals chose this it would make the name Victor popular. If they chose the name Percival then maybe not.
