It's tipped to be the new prince's name. I know we're all supposed to love old men's names but Arthur is just too awful.

Come on Kate & Will - you know you want to call him Milo or Ryan. Just do it!

Personally love Arthur, don't think it is an old man's name at all, and after all, don't all people grow older eventually?! Think anything traditional is far better than a modern name personally :-) Each to their own I say!

RoseWhiteTips · 25/04/2018 17:33

Alexander is a “strong” name given there was an Alexander the Great.

Quetiapina · 25/04/2018 17:33

My money is on Gary.

RoseWhiteTips · 25/04/2018 17:33

Arthur is awful.

Undercoverbanana · 25/04/2018 17:33

Good grief Kate. You’ve had 9 months to decide. Get this baby registered already. It’s not like you’re waiting for your Universal Credit before you can afford the bus into town.

MarshaBradyo · 25/04/2018 17:35

Edward is much nicer than Arthur

RoseWhiteTips · 25/04/2018 17:36

Arthur is in the same league as Cecil, Arnold. Edith, Agatha etc.

Pebble21uk · 25/04/2018 17:36

Thought they might release it in time for the 6pm news as it's been said somewhere that the announcement will be today.

Also needs to be in time for tomorrow's papers.

I have a flutter on Frederick so wish they'd hurry up - normally not invested!!

mickeymacca · 25/04/2018 17:37

I had a feeling they wanted Alfred but it would be pretty poor timing bearing in mind other news ....

WaxOnFeckOff · 25/04/2018 17:40

Half wishing I'd had a punt on David or John.

SomeKindOfGenius · 25/04/2018 17:44

Our maintenance man at work managed to convince one member of staff that the name had been announced and it was Leroy. He explained to her that it links back to the Le Roy Mountbattens which has a French history. She totally fell for it and sent messages to her family 😂

JJ2014 · 25/04/2018 17:50

I think she’ll go for Alexander ( but I think that’s in George’s name?!)

Arthur isn’t a great choice.

She might go for William!

AlbertaSimmons · 25/04/2018 17:55

Today's royal story is about the Anzac commemoration. They won't announce the name and overshadow that.

The80sweregreat · 25/04/2018 17:58

Tomorrow I bet - they don’t seem in a rush.

Rainbunny · 25/04/2018 18:01

I think Arthur James Philip would be a likely combination. I don't see it being Prince Albert - that name has unfortunately got a much too strong popular culture connection with the other known meaning of a Prince Albert and you can imagine how much fun the tabloids would have with that once he was old enough to be picked on by the press.

MargotLovedTom1 · 25/04/2018 18:02

Can someone please tell me what is the bad thing re the name Alfred at the moment??? I asked way back but nobody answered and I'm getting nothing on google.

dannydyerismydad · 25/04/2018 18:02

My money is on Leopold. Leo for short.

LapdanceShoeshine · 25/04/2018 18:05

@MargotLovedTom1

Alfie Evans at Alder Hey

Rainbunny · 25/04/2018 18:07

dannydyerismydad - I would like that choice! Especially the short version of Leo. I do think the right-wing press would go after them for not using a traditional British name though...

Undercoverbanana · 25/04/2018 18:09

There’s another Mum called Kate with a son called Alfie in the news right now.

Yorkshirebetty · 25/04/2018 18:11

Leopold is a very traditional name, one of Queen Victoria's sons and the King of Belgium. It won't be a name currently in the family eg James. I really dislike Arthur as well!!

MargotLovedTom1 · 25/04/2018 18:12

I wondered if it would be that, thanks Lapdance. I can't imagine the royal baby being known as Alfie though, and I don't think that little boy would feature as a factor in any name discussion amongst the RF and associated advisors.

WingsOnMyBoots · 25/04/2018 18:13

I had a lovely cat called Arthur.

Agreed.

RoseWhiteTips · 25/04/2018 18:17

Arthur is a great name - for a cat!
