It's tipped to be the new prince's name. I know we're all supposed to love old men's names but Arthur is just too awful.

Come on Kate & Will - you know you want to call him Milo or Ryan. Just do it!

Arthur Philip James
Or

Philip Arthur James

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 24/04/2018 19:46

Yes Philip is likely to be in there actually.

Arthur Philip Michael. Grin I have changed my mind about 20 times today.

WaitingForSunday17 · 24/04/2018 19:56

Since it seems names beginning with 'A' are looking most likely can I suggest Alan.

Prince Alan.

Undercoverbanana · 24/04/2018 19:58

I am now obsessing over this.

I am no royalist but I have spent the last hour going over family trees and researching the full names of royals major and minor for centuries.

I now wish she’d had a girl. Alice Victoria Anne.

Undercoverbanana · 24/04/2018 20:00

Prince Derek Rodney Trigger Boycie.

Lovely jubbly.

TERFousBreakdown · 24/04/2018 20:05

Surely we've arrived in the digital age and are ready for a royal name courtesy of namegrams.com, though?

Prince Philliam Colemarcus Lawrendallas Oscard Lowendrew of Cambridge?

SevenStones · 24/04/2018 20:05

I'm not a royalist either and I've been looking at Royal family trees too! Grin

I like the idea of Arthur Philip Michael. Or Arthur Philip Francis.

Or Arthur Philip Frederick.

Or.........................................................

SevenStones · 24/04/2018 20:07

@Undercoverbanana

Maybe they will go for four children and the next will be a girl.

They'll probably stop now, but it would be nice to see five or six of them, just for a change in recent times. Then they could use up all of the names available!!!

I wonder how many Meghan and Harry will have. I think they'll not go with Royal traditional names if they do have children.

bananasandwicheseveryday · 24/04/2018 20:08

Sorry, I really, really dislike Arthur. I think Philip is a real possibility, I agree Charles could be a middle name as could James. There are so many names with a royal heritage and it really doesn't matter whether the chosen name is currently 'in use' within the family as that has frequently been the case.
I just really hope it's not Arthur.

Dumbledoresgirl · 24/04/2018 20:10

When they are running the name past the Queen, do you suppose she is aware of the pitfalls of Prince Albert? Can you imagine being the courtier who has to inform her of its slang meaning?

JoeElliotsMullet · 24/04/2018 20:10

Definitely Ronald. Or Percy. It's not too late to change Charlotte to Ginevra, is it?

I know they would never do it but it would be AWESOME if they named him Sirius. Or Remus. Or Kingsley, in an ironic way.

TeaCoffeeCakeGinWine · 24/04/2018 20:11

TERF I really love your suggestion, let’s name the baby that.

As the owner of an Arthur I always find it quite hard to see it described in such disparaging terms (dreadful, awful etc).. I know this is pretty lighthearted but it doesn’t hurt to remember that little Shaniqua has a mother who’s loves their child’s name Blush

lalalalyra · 24/04/2018 20:12

I think he'll be Arthur or Nicholas. although I wouldn't rule Frederick out because of Freddie Windsor - Sarah Chatto's son is called Arthur and if he's distant/old enough to not rule out Arthur then Fred Windsor is distant/old enough not to rule it out.

I don't think they'd use the name of anyone who was already Prince X so no Philip, Charles, Andrew, Edward, Harry/Henry, Michael or Richard.

I wouldn't completely rule out David. The Queen Mother's closest brother was called David, and it obviously wasn't a complete 'no go' in the family as Princess Margaret used it for her son long after the abdication.

bbpp · 24/04/2018 20:13

I reckon they have a group of people who've been checking for embarrassing/bad connotations for names. I just hope one didn't search 'Prince Albert' and get an eyeful unexpectedly Grin

lalalalyra · 24/04/2018 20:13

I also don't think they'll use James because Edward and Sophie's James is too close in age.

Edmund is the name of Earl Spencer's son as well so would depend if they minded that match.

FrancisUnderwood · 24/04/2018 20:15

I love Prince Rupert or Prince Alexander.
Introduce a new name I say, mix it up a bit.

Jazzy11 · 24/04/2018 20:15

I’m thinking Henry or Frederick possibly if it isn’t Henry the middle name may be harry. Frederick harry? Henry Charles ? 👑

FizzyGreenWater · 24/04/2018 20:16

I don't think they'll go for Philip as that is basically saying, he's not long for this world so the name is more or less free!!!

HippityHoppityWho · 24/04/2018 20:16

I'd expected it to be Louis.

lalalalyra · 24/04/2018 20:16

I don't know if they take any notice of the names used in other royal families or not, but Sweden has a young Prince Alexander.

NewPapaGuinea · 24/04/2018 20:19

Arthur is only cool if preceded with King.

HippityHoppityWho · 24/04/2018 20:19

Alexander and Louis are George's middle names so probably won't be either.

Undercoverbanana · 24/04/2018 20:20

lalalalyra - Nicholas - mmmmmmm - interesting - harking back to the Romanovs? Bit edgy maybe????

HexeSauerkraut · 24/04/2018 20:20

Laurence, or maybe Nicholas? Or if they’re going off-piste, Montague H Withnail..Grin

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 24/04/2018 20:21

Arthur is only cool if preceded with King.

Same as Julian.
