It's tipped to be the new prince's name. I know we're all supposed to love old men's names but Arthur is just too awful.

Come on Kate & Will - you know you want to call him Milo or Ryan. Just do it!

Prince Dwayne

MedicinalGin · 24/04/2018 18:02

Or Cedric. Or Gawain- he was good.

If you’re reading this Kate, I won’t be offended if you forget to thank me- it’s a busy time.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 24/04/2018 18:03

Nothing funny about Brian. The last High King of Ireland was Brían Ború. In fact it would be a nice gesture of peace and unity in these difficult Brexit times.

All hail Prince Brian!

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 24/04/2018 18:04

I quite like Arthur.

Philip would be a good choice, but I don't think they will as it would mean there are two Prince Philips (or Princes Philip - hmm, what's the correct plural there?)

MedicinalGin · 24/04/2018 18:04

Maybe just go the whole hog and plump for Brian Brexit Cambridge

SelkieUnderLand · 24/04/2018 18:07

There is nothing aspirational about ARthur. It's DREADFUL

So middle class too! Surely Kate will want to avoid.

I think it will be Frederick

MissEliza · 24/04/2018 18:16

The only positive thing I can say about Fergie is she came up with different and interesting names for her children.

MrsKoala · 24/04/2018 18:18

Arthur is really working class. My Grandad was Arthur and he worked on a veg stall in the East End. Round here all the Arthurs and Edwards are Arties and Teddies and most certainly not MC.

EggysMom · 24/04/2018 18:20

Why does David never feature in the suggestions? Is there a rule against having David as a royal name, because of the carol "Once in Royal David's City"? Smile

MadeleineMaxwell · 24/04/2018 18:21

They should totally call him Arthur, and then he should have a Mordred so the royals can finally do something interesting.

MedicinalGin · 24/04/2018 18:24

The thing is, Edward VIII was a David and he abdicated, so I don’t think it has good connotations 😬

PerfectPenquins · 24/04/2018 18:26

@TheJoyOfSox Now that I see it was written down Ruhtra does look somewhat appealing, so...........um unique? Confused

LineyHasntLeftTheBuilding · 24/04/2018 18:28

I think the name Philip would please the Queen.

David is just a bit too Wallace - but maybe it needs to be reclaimed as a perfectly lovely, normal name. Although then again Madonna did that shit film.

Anyway, I'm going 'Philip'.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 24/04/2018 18:31

Why did I think Kate's Dad was called David?

Anyway I think it will now be Frederick Henry James.

willynillypie · 24/04/2018 18:32

I am really hoping for "Philip Edward Charles"

I think it would be a lovely gesture, because Philip is obviously not long for this world.

Just as long as it's not Frederick...

bananafish81 · 24/04/2018 18:33

James is Edward and Sophie's son
There's already a royal Frederick in Freddie Windsor
Can't have Albert because of Prince Albert
Philip and Louis are used for George's middle names already
David was Edward VII so that's potentially iffy
Harry is Henry obvs

Sarkyharky · 24/04/2018 18:33

I like Frederick. Hate Arthur.

ObiJuanKenobi · 24/04/2018 18:37

I wonder how much say Kate and William actually have in the name

springmachine · 24/04/2018 18:37

I was thinking the same op

HolyMountain · 24/04/2018 18:42

I like Albert then shortened to Bertie.

Edmund is ok but I always think of Black Adder and in the first series he was a simpering arse.

George , Charlotte and .........Frederick... shortened to Freddie sounds good to me.

SelkieUnderLand · 24/04/2018 18:43

Was that abdicated prince's real (given) name David?

When you think about it, if they named somebody Henry and that was Henry VIII's name, there can be very little worse than that!

Grilledaubergines · 24/04/2018 18:48

papaya I hope it’s Louis - lovely name and Prince Louis sounds fab.

Although I’ve just thought - you may have been being sarcastic?Smile

But I’d love it to be Louis. Or Rex.

blackteasplease · 24/04/2018 18:49

Arthur is lovely !

LineyHasntLeftTheBuilding · 24/04/2018 18:50

Sorry, meant Wallis.

Yes, David was his familiar name, Edward his regal/kingly name. On accession, Charles can be known as King Arthur or King Philip or King George if he wants I think. Although I am not a match for Kay Burley's supreme knowledge on these crucial matters.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/04/2018 18:50

Nicholas Witchel was hilarious on the 6 I click news saying that someone had suggested that the baby be called Donald in honour of the Toddler in chief and then trying to say that it was a perfectly good name.

Agreed Arthur and Albert are terrible names
