To get ragey at people booking seats for a flight

And leaving the window seat AngryAngry seriously if you're a couple book the inside two seats, it's so frustrating.

Also what determines if an infant can sit on a particular seat, I've just selected my seats for the flight and me and hubby have to sit one behind the other in window seats because my daughter apparently can't sit in that row 🙄

ChippyMinton

Seriously, you expected cabin crew to wake him up, but you didn't? Or was it that you shook him and he ignored you?

flowerslemonade · 21/04/2018 17:19

What are the black seats?

I don't think I've ever booked a seat, I think it was allocated when they give me the ticket at the airport? I always asked them for aisle, this is bc I drink a lot of water so get up to wee quite a bit, also I don't like feeling trapped in the window seat, horrid.

tinytemper66 · 21/04/2018 17:21

Anyfucker me too! Although I am short I don't like being contained and want my legs to be free.
It's a personal choice and first come first served!

Itchytights · 21/04/2018 17:25

I don’t think it’s anything to do with you what other people book- if you’re not happy, book earlier and choose the seats that suit you. Simples.

JacquesHammer · 21/04/2018 17:27

I'm a window seat lover myself so I just don't understand these people who prefer aisles

You don't understand people who have different preferences from you...in any event the window seat is free so you can sit in your preferred seat.

I am not a massive fan of flying and like the seat furthest from the window. My preference so I pay for it.

Cinnamal · 21/04/2018 17:29

I tried to book seats on my Thomson flight and it wouldn’t let me select seats that left a window seat on its own.

Then I realised they wanted to charge me £50 in total to book seats for us all...we’ll just sit wherever’s left thanks! It’s a 2 hour flight and my kids are old enough to deal with it. I’ve never booked before and we’ve always had our seats changed at the gate so we can sit together. But if we don’t then I’ve got an extra £50 sangria money.

AnnieAnoniMouser · 21/04/2018 17:39

🤣😂🤣🤣

So, let’s get this straight, people shouldn’t book the 2/3 seats they want, to leave you the seat you want... riiiiiight.

An interesting take on life.

Enko · 21/04/2018 17:45

op You would have hated my MIL she always booked aisle and window leaving the middle one free..

PoorYorick · 21/04/2018 17:49

Obviously a lot of people don't like the window...assuming you don't have a bowel or bladder issue, or need the extra space for your legs or something, may I ask why? It's just that I love being able to look out of the window and also love not being disturbed by anyone who needs the toilet or wants to stretch their legs. I honestly thought the window seats were the ones everyone wanted!

SoyDora · 21/04/2018 17:51

PoorYorick I hate feeling hemmed in. I know you’re hemmed I’m regardless, but I feel really claustrophobic in the window seat. I like to be able to get out when I want.
I used to fly to various places in Europe weekly for business (for about 2 years) so I’ve seen all sea/sky/cloud that I’m bothered about seeing!

expatinscotland · 21/04/2018 17:57

I only like the window if I'm travelling alone so I can use the wall to sleep. If I'm with the DCs I can't sleep as DS has ASD and never sleeps on planes.

bimbobaggins · 21/04/2018 17:57

I have booked the 2 aisle seats for our holiday. I hate the window seat

JacquesHammer · 21/04/2018 17:59

It's just that I love being able to look out of the window

I’m not a huge flying fan. I can do it if I don’t look out!

babydreamer1 · 21/04/2018 18:02

YABU! Perhaps one member of the party wants an isle seat? Or maybe they want to be able to get up and move around or use the loo frequently without having to ask a stranger to move? Or maybe they can book what ever seat they want because it's their choice! Book earlier and you can do the same.

Lweji · 21/04/2018 18:02

@PoorYorick

Because sometimes people have seen the landscape outside often enough, want to get out faster, want to be able to get things from the overhead locker without bothering anyone, want to be able to stretch their legs, are afraid of flying...

I only ask for a window seat if I'm flying somewhere new, not at night, or on overnight flights so that I can sleep undisturbed and can lean to the side.

@flowerslemonade black seats are exit seats

We booked seats for our flight, three on one side and two out of the four middle seats. Virgin decided to change our seats and booked us two in the side row, leaving the window seat open, and three in the middle row leaving one seat open. Probably annoying for people around us but it was Virgin, not us.

corythatwas · 21/04/2018 18:25

I do need MN to remind myself from time to time of how very difficult life is.

AgentHannahWells · 21/04/2018 18:28

What annoys me is when people have the window seat and don't look out of it!!! Miserable fuckers. Wasting the view.

BarbaraofSevillle · 21/04/2018 18:29

I like the window seat. Unfortunately, DP has the world's broadest shoulders, so always bags the window seat to save him taking up room and being close to whoever is in the aisle seat. I don't mind really as I just lean over him to see out of the window and it means if I need the toilet, I can usually nip out when whoever is in the aisle seat goes, if I need to go.

Whoever said that Jet2 flights can't be that long has obviously forgotten about the Canaries and Cyprus, which is over 5 hours from Scotland, so quite a time to not need to go to the toilet.

We're flying Jet2 in a couple of weeks and just take what they offer us for free. We've got a window and a middle seat going out and two aisle seats on the way back which will make a change and we can see what we prefer. If we are next to people who are up and down like yoyos, I might refuse that option in future.

GreenShadow · 21/04/2018 18:30

Never come across anyone who didn't want a window seat before.

Seeing what we are flying over can be one of the highlights of my holiday (but then I am a geographer who loves maps and the like). We flew over Mt Kilimanjaro recently - absolutely incredible. I would have been heartbroken if I was stuck in an aisle seat and couldn't see it.

The aisle seat is therefore my last choice - at least in the middle you can crane your neck and see out of the window a little.

hammeringinmyhead · 21/04/2018 18:32

Haha. OP, I am pregnant too. I booked an aisle on a recent long haul flight so I could get up regularly. I'm sure you'd have loved having to move for me every 45 minutes. I am also terrified of heights and don't want to look out of a window because my brain starts telling me I am going to die. Happy?

LouLouLove · 21/04/2018 18:32

I always book an aisle seat and we book two aisles if travelling together. I hate being by the window, feel really claustrophobic and like to know I can get up and down when I want without disturbing anyone!

GertieMotherwell · 21/04/2018 18:35

My DH needs and aisle seat for health reasons and I want to sit next to him
