To get ragey at people booking seats for a flight

And leaving the window seat AngryAngry seriously if you're a couple book the inside two seats, it's so frustrating.

Also what determines if an infant can sit on a particular seat, I've just selected my seats for the flight and me and hubby have to sit one behind the other in window seats because my daughter apparently can't sit in that row 🙄

Green We're hopefully on the right side of the plane when we go to Tenerife next month. Last time we went they did a lap round the island and with a view of the volcano from all sides but we were on the wrong side of the plane and only saw tiny glimpses.

Knowing our luck, they'll fly in the other way this time (don't know if that's possible or it might all be one way in/out).

We once flew to Malta and went over the Alps, down the coast of Italy and then over Sicily and saw Mount Etna. Amazing.

GreenTulips · 21/04/2018 18:44

we are very much hoping that the middle seat between our son and his partner with the baby, will be the seat of last resort for any one else.

So you expect a 'free' seat for them to use for the baby?

I love all the mad rush to book seats and then the complaints at sitting next to a stray 4 year old who's parents either refused to book or last minuet take up in the flight

You still DONT get to choose who you are seated next to- see those next to sleepers, leg stretchers!

Wonder if there's a tick box

No babies
No children
Non large males
No stags
No smelly people

Makes me laugh!

famousfour · 21/04/2018 18:49

So many things to consider... have never heard this one before! Thankfully I mostly fly short haul so it really doesn't matter and I'm too tight to pay to op so just take what is available...

TrickyD · 21/04/2018 19:01

Yes, Greentulips, with any luck, exactly that. Not so much for the baby but for all of then to have some extra space on which to spread out.

HiggeldyPigsinblankets · 21/04/2018 19:13

I always go for seats as near the back as possible and when I fly alone I go for an aisle seat

Theworldisfullofgs · 21/04/2018 19:16

My dh is 6' 5". Trust me you'd much prefer it if we booked an aisle seat.

TrudeauGirl · 21/04/2018 19:33

We always book the middle and aisle because I have IBS

Yes this is why I always prefer aisle...easier to get out if needed! Nightmare with IBS

applesareredandgr33n · 21/04/2018 22:26

I always book aisle seat as I hate flying and want to be as far from window as possible. Also got weak bladder. Normally as there are 3 of us we are just one row but were late booking this time so had DH and DS in row in front on journey out.

Children can't be in seats by emergency exit.

fabulous01 · 21/04/2018 22:32

We have travelled a few times and not all planes have children’s oxygen or something
Anyway that is why toddlers can’t sit on particular seats

Travis1 · 22/04/2018 08:21

@greentulips that’s why you book extra legroom seats, kids can’t sit there 😬😬

MissMorkansAnnualDance · 22/04/2018 12:12

Higgledy, me too!

Next to the last row, dd and I in the aisle seats.

Hope I never meet the OP!

GreenTulips · 22/04/2018 12:14

I also prefer thebisle seat - I'm laughing at those window joggers who thought 'everyone' wanted a window!

ConciseandNice · 22/04/2018 12:16

I book an aisle seat every time. As close to the front of the plane as possible.

maddiemookins16mum · 22/04/2018 12:21

Babies cannot sit in emergency exit rows (but if she has her own seat she must be over two?). Even then, emergency exit rows only accommodate those who could open the doors if needed. Also it's to do with oxygen masks, not all rows have ones suitable for wains.

MarthasGinYard · 22/04/2018 12:23

I was once put between a father and adult daughter.

I had a sense of humour failure about 3 hours in with the talking over me.

My colleagues sat behind me thought it was all hilarious Hmm

Daffodildainty · 22/04/2018 12:35

YABU- I am tall and claustrophobic. DP is tall and dislikes the middle seat. We book 2 aisle seats.

QueenOfIce · 22/04/2018 14:25

I like a window seat because I hate being disturbed by those needing the loo!

LVXiii · 22/04/2018 14:29

I once got stuck between a couple who had booked aisle and window on a long haul flight. It was fascinating. They legit just talked as if I wasn't there - I wanted to live tweet the story of their marital crisis. I had my own personal soap opera going on!

ittakes2 · 22/04/2018 14:33

I'm sorry I think you are a twat. My husband is 6ft 2 so books the aisle seat so he can fit in his seat...my mum is 5ft 2 and 70 years old and needs an aisle seat as she gets claustrophobic and needs to go to the toilet when she needs to go to the toilet. This means if my husband or mother travel with someone else they book the aisle seat plus the one next to it. If you want certain seats...book them with your travel agent or book them earlier.

BarbaraofSevillle · 22/04/2018 14:37

Why aren't these people in the middle seat between a couple swapping instead of being the piggy in the middle, so to speak?

I wouldn't put up with them talking across me and I'd move to either the window or the aisle seat and let them sit together.

19lottie82 · 22/04/2018 14:59

I wouldn't put up with them talking across me and I'd move to either the window or
the aisle seat and let them sit together.

How would you suggest doing that if neither of them wanted to move from their pre booked seats? Hmm

NormskiNamechange · 22/04/2018 15:04

I would start joining in the conversation in the most inappropriate way! The rudeness of some people never ceases to astound me.

MouseholeCat · 22/04/2018 15:05

DH and I can book wherever we damn well please. And why, if you have an infant (presumably sat on a lap), do you have to sit next to each other?

Actually, we tend to book aisle seats close to the front because we hate getting stuck behind people faffing with a whole bunch of stuff in the overheads.

If I'm going to pay to book a seat, I'm going to select what works best for me.
