To get ragey at people booking seats for a flight

And leaving the window seat AngryAngry seriously if you're a couple book the inside two seats, it's so frustrating.

Also what determines if an infant can sit on a particular seat, I've just selected my seats for the flight and me and hubby have to sit one behind the other in window seats because my daughter apparently can't sit in that row 🙄

@PlateOfBiscuits to be fair I did have a hormonal crying breakdown and my hubby was like it's just a flight 😂

@ButchyRestingFace deffo on team No recline! There should even be a decline option on a European flight! Long haul yes but not shorthaul!

I wee a LOT. And would have a panic attack being hemmed in. This, to me, is of rather greater importance than your pregnant bladder.

Madbengalmum · 21/04/2018 16:31

If its jet2 you can't recline now or put blnds down as there aren't any.

TurquoiseDress · 21/04/2018 16:31

YABU

I have never got worked up like this while looking up flight seats to book!

In fact, I don't think I've ever chosen the seats, just done online check-in and we have always (family of 3) been seated all together in one row.

People have all sorts of reasons for why they choose to be seated in certain parts of the airplane.

BlondeB83 · 21/04/2018 16:32

YABU, best book earlier next time and get the seats you want.

InspMorse · 21/04/2018 16:32

seriously if you're a couple book the inside

No way! The best seats are aisle seats. You can spread out, get up & walk around without bothering anyone.
It's awful being trapped in especially if you have long legs.

The other passengers got in there first OP. Tough luck.

The aisle seats may have been booked by a couple with a baby, an elderly couple who need to move about regularly, by tall people or people who just prefer an aisle seat.

Your sense on entitlement is irritating. Book your flights earlier.

TurquoiseDress · 21/04/2018 16:32

Probably missed this piece of information buried in all the posts, but where is the flight going to?

a 12 hour long-haul to SE Asia or something, then I can start to see where you are coming from, otherwise, not really feeling your rage!

happypoobum · 21/04/2018 16:34

Makes mental note to book Jet2 next holiday.

ButchyRestingFace · 21/04/2018 16:36

Yes, I had you pegged for a non-recliner, OP. Wink

InspMorse · 21/04/2018 16:37

Having said all that... ^ if I was in your position I would be sobbing all over my husband too. I'd be angry with myself for not booking earlier & would be cursing all those who were organised and beat me to iteveryone else on the flight seat plan.
I hate being trapped in window seats.

TrickyD · 21/04/2018 16:41

LadyLapsang, we are very much hoping that the middle seat between our son and his partner with the baby, will be the seat of last resort for any one else.

Aragog · 21/04/2018 16:42

'm a window seat lover myself so I just don't understand these people who prefer aisles.

Leg room? Dh likes an aisle seat as he has long legs. The aisle means he can stretch out a little every so often. So I imagine when we start flying without dd we will go got the aisle and centre, or two aisles in planes where there are three either side. I actually prefer a window where I can lean against the side, though the recent incident has put me off a bit!

Aragog · 21/04/2018 16:43

^You'll REALLY hate me!
I book window and aisle, leaving middle empty...
^

See, I do think that is a bit selfish tbh. And Fortunately many plane companies won't allow you to do so if booking as a group.

ChippyMinton · 21/04/2018 16:44

DD and I were allocated the window and aisle seat on a 12 hour flight. The occupant of the aisle seat sat down, covered himself with a blanket, earplugs in, hood up, seat belt done up. Did not move or acknowledge us for the entire flight, so we were stuck. The cabin crew refused to disturb him Angry I had to pass DD over the seat back to DH to take her to the toilet. And I crossed my legs for the entire flight.

Not a chance will I ever put myself at the mercy of a stranger again, so book seats to suit myself and my family.

Shmithecat · 21/04/2018 16:50

I'm so glad I don't fly economy any more...

sodabreadjam · 21/04/2018 16:51

DH and I have various health issues which mean we should stand up once in a while and also have easy access to the toilet. We prefer two aisle seats or outer and middle seat so we don't disturb others when we get up.

We decided not to bother paying for for seats for our next holiday (Jet2). We have been allocated seats together both ways - window and middle on the way out and two aisle seats on the way back.

ItsNachoCheese · 21/04/2018 16:56

I have booked a middle seat for me and a window seat for ds for when we go. Same seat row/number going and coming back as its at the front and easier for me

Fundays12 · 21/04/2018 16:59

I booked the seats I wanted to for my family. I paid extra for them and booked ages ago so why should I not get what I want? And no I won’t be moving to accommodate other people who didn’t book.

lalalalyra · 21/04/2018 17:00

And leaving the window seat angryangry seriously if you're a couple book the inside two seats, it's so frustrating.

No chance. I don't like flying so I wouldn't have a window seat if it suited my family so I'm certainly not having one when I travel with DH just to suit someone elses.

Also what determines if an infant can sit on a particular seat, I've just selected my seats for the flight and me and hubby have to sit one behind the other in window seats because my daughter apparently can't sit in that row

Oxygen masks. If your DD can't be sat in that row then chances are there is already an infant booked in that row.

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 21/04/2018 17:08

I can see how it’s irritating. However if your on a long flight you want to be comfortable so you pick which is best for you. I prefer the aisle seat purely because of ease and space, I also like to see what’s going on on the rest of the plane. I’m a people watcher..... anxiety is a bitch

NormskiNamechange · 21/04/2018 17:09

@ChippyMinton that makes me seriously angry. Entirely selfish behaviour on the part of the other passenger. I’d have been gently waking him up at least once. If he didn’t wake up with my gentle tapping, I would have become increasingly firm.

blackteasplease · 21/04/2018 17:11

I always sit by the aisle so would not do as you suggest.

Honestly why shouldn't people book aisle and middle. Lots of single travellers want the window.

When people book aisle and window that's inconsiderate but aisle and middle is fine.

AngryGinger · 21/04/2018 17:13

2 aisle seats for us! That is if we even book the seat. I usually just take my chances and say to DP that I’ll see him when we get there.

blackteasplease · 21/04/2018 17:14

I'd climb over chippy!
