To get ragey at people booking seats for a flight

And leaving the window seat AngryAngry seriously if you're a couple book the inside two seats, it's so frustrating.

Also what determines if an infant can sit on a particular seat, I've just selected my seats for the flight and me and hubby have to sit one behind the other in window seats because my daughter apparently can't sit in that row 🙄

Just looked at the seat plan in the OP again.
If I was booking seats on that flight, pregnant with a toddler I’d put DH and toddler in 2C and myself in 10F. Buy myself a couple of hours peace and quiet Grin

Janniohlosty123 · 21/04/2018 15:28

YABU.
They got there first so get to choose their seat that is most convenient.

Lweji · 21/04/2018 15:30

I will be with my pregnant bladder and my husband will be when he has to change toddlers nappy

You've left booking late, as seen by the limited number of seats remaining.
I'm guessing there will be a fair number of other children/babies/pregnant women who also want to change nappies and have easy access to the toilets.

Next time, try to book earlier or a less busy flight, if possible.

LearnFromThePast · 21/04/2018 15:31

I always have an aisle seat as I am tall and also need to go to the loo a lot. My H then either books the middle or another aisle seat. Surely you pick your preference, which is the whole point of booking in advance

Nanna50 · 21/04/2018 15:32

Husband likes the window, he has broad shoulders so encroaches onto the middle seat wherever he sits and gets knocked continuously in the aisle seat.

I like the aisle, except at the front or back because then people lean on you the whole flight waiting for the loo. I hate the middle seat if someone in the aisle seat spills over I am crushed between them and my DH.

Lots of flights wont let us book the window and aisle, I think it's because people can do this hoping no one will want to book the middle seat.

Spicylolly · 21/04/2018 15:35

I always book an aisle seat if travelling alone or with DH, can't abide getting trapped in by the window especially if unhappy kids have pinned me in or as a pp said someone falls asleep.....I'm more than happy to get in and out of my seat to let others out, gives me a chance to stretch my legs.

I get ragey with the people who don't bother booking seats together and then delay the flight while they expect everyone else to move around for them.

YABU I'm afraid op

ShotsFired · 21/04/2018 15:35

@AnyFucker We book an aisle seat each grin

We book an aisle and a window seat (assuming it's a 3-3 configuration), on on the premise that if the flight is full, middle seat stranger will happily swap with one of us; but if not, nobody's going to willingly choose the middle seat so it stays free.

Never failed us yet.

(For long haul/widebody jets we go bus class anyway so it's moot Grin )

Glumglowworm · 21/04/2018 15:39

YABU

you have seat preferences, so do other people. They got there first so you have to suck it up. Boo fucking hoo

Punta · 21/04/2018 15:40

Regular flyer here - my husband and I always book the seats either side of the aisle and preferably row 2. Loads more room and straight off the flight.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 21/04/2018 15:40

OP's responses are making me want to book the aisle and middle for my next holiday. And take a sleeping tablet before I board.

problembottom · 21/04/2018 15:40

I love a window seat! Always try to get one if I'm alone or with DP. I have noticed that as I always board last (not a fan of queueing) a CF has often nicked the window seat. So I do think window seats are preferred by many.

TheReluctantFundaFeminist · 21/04/2018 15:51

Surely the only people who would bother to book a seat are those with an actual personal preference?

Therefore their own preference can be whatever they want it to be?

jedenfalls · 21/04/2018 15:53

Wish I’d managed to book a seat separate to DH and small person last time I flew.

Wouldn’t have had to listen to them both bellyaching all the way there and back.

TrickyD · 21/04/2018 15:57

We are traveling with baby DGS on BA in the summer, long haul. As he is under two he does not officially have a seat. We have chosen a 'basinet' seat for him and his mum by the window, and the aisle seat for his dad, in the hope no one will want the middle seat next to a baby.

The rest of the family, nine of us altogether, are distributed around whatever seats they liked the look of, some aisle, some window.

BA allow you to chose your seats as soon as you book, for free, for the whole party if it includes an infant.

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 21/04/2018 16:01

After the exploding engine the other day I reckon it will be quite some time before I sit in a window seat... 😕

MaggieFS · 21/04/2018 16:03

I've seen at least three posters mention "isle" seats. Now I want one of these please! Is it a private oasis with no other irritating passengers around? GrinGrin

Lweji · 21/04/2018 16:03

Good point, Broom. Maybe it's similar to what many people are thinking when booking these days.
Not only because of the windows, but you can escape faster from an aisle seat too. And leave the plane earlier.

LadyFarnborough · 21/04/2018 16:04

TUI won't let you book aisle and middle, pissed me off no end recently after spending over £200 on seat bookings for our party. Surely the point of paying is to have the seats I want. You don't pay, you get whatever is left.

happypoobum · 21/04/2018 16:07

ladyf YABU for booking with TUI after that hideous advert anyway Grin

BookWitch · 21/04/2018 16:08

Me and teenage DD travel long haul together quite frequently.
We both prefer an aisle seat, so I book seat C and D in the same row (same row either side of an aisle.

OP says I should be booking a window and and centre seat. To suit her.
Bollocks to that.

Madbengalmum · 21/04/2018 16:09

YABU OP, perhaps YOU should have booked earlier to resolve the issue!

ButchyRestingFace · 21/04/2018 16:09

I like a window seat myself, and I have excellent bladder control. **

But people are presumably paying extra to book their preferred seats? In which case, they're perfectly entitled to book whatever configuration is available and tough tits to the OP anyone who didn't book their seats early enough.

But never mind all this nonsense, OP, where do you stand on the issue of reclining seats - to recline or not to recline? Grin

lanbro · 21/04/2018 16:10

We always book a full row plus aisle seat opposite, and I usually get to sit on my own with my kindle!

LadyLapsang · 21/04/2018 16:11

Wow, I feel sorry for the person booking the middle seat next to Tricky. Dad will be sitting in the aisle oblivious and mum will be fuming and talking over the person in the middle all flight. Hope they put on their Bose and go to sleep.

PlateOfBiscuits · 21/04/2018 16:12

’So you're cross that people are choosing the seats they like best because it interferes with you choosing the seats you like best?’
^ so much this.

YABU and a bit of a numpty.

I’m going to assume it’s the pregnancy and decide that really you’re a lovely person who just needs to get over themselves today.
