To get ragey at people booking seats for a flight

And leaving the window seat AngryAngry seriously if you're a couple book the inside two seats, it's so frustrating.

Also what determines if an infant can sit on a particular seat, I've just selected my seats for the flight and me and hubby have to sit one behind the other in window seats because my daughter apparently can't sit in that row 🙄

When DH and I travelling without our DC we also book aisle seats across from each other-
And always pre-book seats-
I think people have all different reasons for booking what suits their family best and its difficult enough without having to also leave the seats you want empty Wink

fruitlovingmonkey · 21/04/2018 13:58

I like a window seat when I travel alone with my toddler. It’s much more interesting for him.
How long is the flight? I have never understood nappy changes on short haul. Why not just do it before you board and after you arrive? Obviously not for poops but I can’t believe that every tot I see queuing for the manky plane toilet has pooped.

It would be worse if they booked the aisle and window seat, leaving you stuck in the middle Grin

merrymouse · 21/04/2018 14:00

I like the window seat.

SoyDora · 21/04/2018 14:00

No thanks, hate the window seat as does DH. I’m paying so will book the seats we want.
We’ve got two young children now so have actually booked 2 middle seats and 2 aisle seats, leaving the window seats free on both rows.

lynzpynz · 21/04/2018 14:02

Plenty of folk do this - when the flight isn’t full the hope is that the inside seat will remain empty! I often travel alone with work and get stuck in this very seat. Doesn’t bother me in slightest as I can lean and doze off! Can see how this tactic would annoy people not travelling alone though when they get split up.

Blame the airlines not the passengers playing the system, if the airlines just allocated groups together free of charge (more like included in the cost!!) this wouldnt happen it’s all about the money grabbing...

BrightYellowDaffodil · 21/04/2018 14:02

I hope the random stranger in your aisle climbs all over you like I will be with my pregnant bladder and my husband will be when he has to change toddlers nappy

With an attitude like that, I just hope to God I never have to sit anywhere near you on a plane.

Stringofpearls · 21/04/2018 14:02

We sometimes have to do this, I'm a nervous flier so want to sit next to my husband, but often window seats costs significantly more so we avoid them.

Jenasaurus · 21/04/2018 14:03

I suppose if people book aisle and middle seats then it leaves just a single window seat so 2 people late to book could find themselves unable to sit together. Whereas if you book window and middle then the 2 people late to book would be able to sit across the aisle from each other if that makes sense. A similar way to how cineworld pre booking seats works, you cant leave a single seat when you reserve your own.

LadyLapsang · 21/04/2018 14:03

I'm with AF, if I'm not in the front row or have extra leg room, then it's definitely two aisle seats for us (and sometimes even when we have exit row seats). If you want particular seats just chose an airline that allows you to book them early in the process.

DwangelaForever · 21/04/2018 14:04

I'm a window seat lover myself so I just don't understand these people who prefer aisles.

@Tartanscarf I literally only booked the holiday ...

Not much help but there is less germs on the window seat - think of all those mucky hands touching the aisle headrests... Yucky!

YABU getting angry about it but I do see your point!

Maybe people are not booking window seats following the recent accident where a passenger was sucked out of a window?

ElinoristhenewEnid · 21/04/2018 14:04

OP I have had it worse as a single traveller. On a 3 hour flight I was sat in the middle of row of three because a married couple had chosen an aisle seat and window seat. I think they hoped no-one would take that middle seat but I was allocated it due to nearly full flight. They spent the whole flight talking across me - impossible to sleep or read quietly.

Dahlietta · 21/04/2018 14:05

I don't understand what the problem is either. Is it that, if you are not a single traveller, it's harder to get seats anywhere near each other if the only ones left are all window seats? That's the only reason I can think of.

Obviously though, everyone is entitled to book the seats they want for whatever reason on a first come, first served basis.

Sorry that my dp needs to be in the aisle seat because of IBS and anxiety. Your needs do not trump others. Book earlier if you want to moan.

SoyDora · 21/04/2018 14:06

Shock people are different... shocker!
You don’t have to understand it.

ChipsAndKetchup · 21/04/2018 14:06

Boo fucking hoo.
If you are that full of importance, charter your own plane?

Spiggle123 · 21/04/2018 14:06

Last time I flew there were 4 of us. We booked 4 adjacent aisle seats,
one pair behind the other. I like to be able to go where I want, when I want. I wouldn't mind in the slightest if somebody asked me to move 10 times during the flight - asking someone to move for me, more than once, would make me feel very anxious and hemmed in.
Same in a theatre. I'd rather not go than be in the middle.

And if you’re a window seat lover then fab... you’ve got your window seat! Perfect.

DwangelaForever · 21/04/2018 14:07

@SoyDora yeah but not beside my husband and daughter that's the issue, as I've said before i wouldn't mind two aisle seats beside each other but not being in the same aisle is the issue
