To get ragey at people booking seats for a flight

And leaving the window seat AngryAngry seriously if you're a couple book the inside two seats, it's so frustrating.

Also what determines if an infant can sit on a particular seat, I've just selected my seats for the flight and me and hubby have to sit one behind the other in window seats because my daughter apparently can't sit in that row 🙄

Barbara do accept my sincere apols

I've misread its Barbarian that's a past offender....

BarbaraofSevillle · 22/04/2018 18:12

Apology accepted Grin

It wouldn't have been us anyway cos we generally ignore each other for most of the flight as DP puts his headphones on to watch films and I either read or fall asleep.

MarthasGinYard · 22/04/2018 18:12

And Alonso

Could have been any of you

Flying to Santa Domingo that day 🤔

MarthasGinYard · 22/04/2018 18:13

Grinthanks

Sounds like me and Dp

You wouldn't know we were together anyway

Bluelady · 22/04/2018 18:18

I love a window seat and I always thought they were the most popular too. I'm delighted to be wrong.

paxillin · 22/04/2018 18:20

You rage at people who want what you want, but booked earlier?

Actually, I kind of understand that, my favourite ice lollies were sold out today. All those tedious people should have bought the horrid cola ones and left the nice mango lollies for me. Or perhaps I should have gone earlier if I must have a certain kind.

TheYesWoman · 22/04/2018 18:20

Why shouldn’t short haul seats recline? After a long transcontinental flight you may take a short haul to your final destination Hmm

BarbarianMum · 22/04/2018 18:31

No plane seats should ever recline imo. Or they should be only be reclinable overnight, once meal service has finished. I don't care how tired you are, I don't want to lose the few precious inches of space plane seating allows or have your seat in my face/breaking my knees.

Idontdowindows · 22/04/2018 18:34

Why shouldn’t short haul seats recline?

Because seats have been moved so close together that even a shortarse like me doesn't have enough leg space and reclining seats reduce what little you have.

YoloSwaggins · 22/04/2018 18:38

Wow. I genuinely had no idea that aisle seats were so desirable. I thought it was all about the window seat!

Great views, no-one bothers you to get up and go to the loo, you have something to rest your head on.

user1487881523 · 22/04/2018 18:48

Is that directed at me?!

WingsOnMyBoots · 22/04/2018 18:49

You would LOVE me - I ALWAYS want the window seat and my hubby sits in the middle.

IsDaveThere · 22/04/2018 18:50

I've checked in online today for a Jet2 flight and I don't pay for my seat, I would be happy for them to allocate whatever. Outward journey me and DP have 2 aisle seats, that's fine. Coming home, Jet2 have allocated us the aisle and middle seats, even though the window seat is free, so it isn't necessarily the travellers leaving the window seat spare... I usually prefer a window but wasn't prepared to pay extra to change when it will be pitch black outside anyway Grin

user1487881523 · 22/04/2018 18:50

Sorry, don’t know how to reply on a specific comment. It was to Jenka91

sleep5 · 22/04/2018 18:53

Everyone hates the middle seat(s). The aisle and window seats are always the most popular. We often book the aisle and window seat in the hope that no one will book the middle seat and we get 3 seats to ourselves. If someone books the middle seat then we don't get to talk to each other for a few hours - no great loss.

BarbarianMum · 22/04/2018 18:55

Nobody may wish to sit in the middle seat bw two strangers but I'm not really sure why it's worse if they know one another, provided they're courteous and don't talk over you. I'm close to my dh but we're not actually joined at the hip. I'd presume you'd book a window seat if sitting next to two strangers is too much for you. Or never fly alone.

Follyfoot · 22/04/2018 18:55

Haha, you'd hate us OP, we always book middle and aisle. We choose those because DH needs to be able to stretch and move his legs as he has previously had a pulmonary embolism. Hope that's OK with you Grin

Shampaincharly · 22/04/2018 18:56

Maybe OP should organise the seating planGrin

Gwenhwyfar · 22/04/2018 19:01

I'll book whatever seat I want thanks.

sleep5 · 22/04/2018 19:02

I personally always go for the aisle seat as I often fly long distance on 12-18 hour long flights and like to go for a walk or wee whenever I want without having to wake up strangers.
Also, in an emergency an aisle seat allows for a quicker escape.
It's often an indicator of who is the boss in a relationship as they'll be in the aisle or window seat and the other person in the middle seat.

momamama · 22/04/2018 19:03

I've just book for a family on 5 via first choice and it wouldn't let me book 5 in a row leaving a window seat unoccupied. So we have to sit in 2 and 3 behind.

KnightofWands · 22/04/2018 19:10

YABU. I prefer an aisle seat and will book it in advance if that's an option. The head room - and sometimes leg room also - can be less for a window seat and I am tall.

ajandjjmum · 22/04/2018 19:12

Everyone is entitled to book whatever seat they wish.

Unless you have a medical requirement, book earlier, or live with it.

YABU

manicmij · 22/04/2018 19:13

Only time I would book a middle seat would be if travelling with a child who wanted to be at a window otherwise aisle seat every time.

badg3r · 22/04/2018 19:15

wades in having not rtft

About the infant seats. Depending on the plane, most have four oxygen masks per three seats. So you can only have one infant per row. If the booking system is up to scratch, if someone has already booked a seat plus infant on a row, nobody else can.
