Particularly from the Pregnancy forum?

For post-menopausal reasons I'm not on that forum. It's widespread in Australia, where I live.

I detest it. Up there with little man.

I don't mind it - anyway as far as our newish DGS is concerned.It seems to have become his name "How's Bub?", "Whart's Bub up to?" , "Hello Bub" .

Staying with them at the weekend I wondered aloud if he would still be Bub when he is an adult. Then it was pointed out that his dad, at 46, still answers to "Duck" , his own baby name.

But where will I go to eat shrimp?

Only rednecks say bubba in the US, I've never understood why anyone would use it. Or sissy either.

Bubs when I was a child was another name for breasts.

Oooooh I’m not at all keen on bubs or bubba. Little man doesn’t bother me though. I call ds mister man for some reason.

My SIL bubba'd me in an IM this morning, I nearly cried when I saw it. She's a fantastic woman and I love her like she were my actual sister but I'm now thinking I might have to go NC with her. She gets the benefit of the doubt this once....

And babby is fine to me too. Also ba. I think that may be regional though as I grew up in NI.

What’s wrong with “Hi All/Everyone”?

I hate all the weird twee language, I dislike it more so when it's adults talking to each other. We were at a NT property a few weeks ago and heard a woman in the car opposite ours say ' here are your booties baby'. I assumed she was talking to a child but nope it was a grown man, what kind of a name is that for bloody wellingtons anyhow?

@Seafoodeatit this is totally off topic, but you’ve just reminded me of a when I referred to a couple as Mr & Mrs National Trust, the name stuck for describing anyone who looked let’s say vanilla, dull, unassuming or safe.
Until I got my words in a bit of a muddle and called someone Mr & Mrs National Front! Good job I was only talking to my DH.

I read the teaser for this thread on discussions of the day as 'annoying pet names - "how's Bubba?" '......and thought it was about my friend's (huge) pet dog's name, which actually is Bubba.

I'm not a fan of 'nanna'
