To think two oranges after dinner is too much sugar

They are pretty large navel oranges, two of them (whole not juiced) is probably half your daily sugar allowance so probably not a good idea to eat two after a evening dinner?

Bloody hell, it's fruit. Sure, there's sugar in it, but also a decent helping of vitamins, fibre, water & some minerals. And it takes a while to eat. It's not the nutritional equivalent of a packet of Haribo.

expatinscotland · 19/04/2018 16:23

'But where is the protein in these 2 oranges? I would have added some protein to them, something like a whole chicken to make them more balanced.'

I'd swap out one of the oranges for kale or a couple of frozen pucks of spinach and add some flax seed.

Nah, fuck that, I'd juice the orange, add in voddy and light up a cigarette to go with it.

Spudlet · 19/04/2018 16:33

toomuch 😂😂

I let DS have one of the free bananas going around Tesco this morning. It was the first time he'd had an entire banana in one go (he's 2, so I normally give him a chunk of banana with each meal). He seems to have kept all his teeth so far, but he did suddenly get the energy to try and launch himself out of the trolley (and damn well nearly succeeded - I had to catch him mid-flight!).

Am I going to MN-Hell (a place which I assume is populated by CFs, toilet brush users and reckless fruit suppliers)?

KeneftYakimoski · 19/04/2018 16:36

If the OP's child keeps eating oranges like this, they'll never be able to afford a house.

tartantroosers · 19/04/2018 16:38

I've been trying to segment the themes here in the hope of making a pithy comment, but not inspired. I apeel to you, OP, to rezest the temptation to worry about it.

"has Googled shit" Grin Grin Grin

jnfrrss · 19/04/2018 16:41

Of course it was a reverse, it's a bit sad my post today didn't make this totally clear.

I've eaten a bag of panda licorice today

OP posts:
PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 19/04/2018 16:45

She ate nothing for two days, did a massive purple shit and then ate two chicken legs for her dinner.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

That's so funny I had to go outside and tell DH!

paxillin · 19/04/2018 16:48

Of course it couldn't make it clear, there are plenty on MN who eat like that or at least pretend to when on here.

Mumto2two · 19/04/2018 16:54

Oranges?? We love the Terry chocolate variety in this house Grin
Can’t say I ever consider how much sugar we are consuming...but we’re all slim and have our own teeth..so I guess we must be doing ok!

Bluntness100 · 19/04/2018 17:29

Just how bored would you have to be to do this. Poor you. 😔

Somersetter · 19/04/2018 19:06

Eh? It's a reverse? Who was it really about then? Confused

Moxiebelle · 19/04/2018 19:08

Reverses are stupid.

paxillin · 19/04/2018 19:43

I think reverses are patronising. I assume this was meant as a joke. But there is so much odd eating on MN it didn't work well.

Jozxyqk · 19/04/2018 19:49

It's definitely the heat.

SarfE4sticated · 19/04/2018 19:50

Some people posting on here weren't joking though. I will never look at a strawberry again without thinking of the "bowel cancer risk".

Loonoon · 19/04/2018 20:34

How is this a reverse? She didn't eat two oranges? Or mum forced her to eat two oranges? Perhaps mum ate the oranges. Or she ate them before dinner? Or perhaps they were apples? I'm very confused.

LiteraryDevil · 19/04/2018 20:44

Fecking time wasters

Anasnake · 19/04/2018 20:47

Batshit

Bluntness100 · 19/04/2018 21:39

I suspected the op was serious when she started, has now realised it was batshit, and so tried to claim it as something else , which was sadly even more batshit than the original question.

allthegoodnameshadgone · 19/04/2018 21:42

My dd cut her fringe clean off. Two oranges wouldn't phase me.

Alicatz66 · 19/04/2018 21:49

Yes .. I'm shocked to the core with your careless orange munching ... get on the naughty step and have a plain rice cake .. think carefully about what you have done . I don't know how you sleep at night

Alicatz66 · 19/04/2018 21:52

MyKingdomForBrie
My fruit bowl is open all hours too .. but I'm the only one who eats the sodding stuff .. and mainly I just carry apples to work and carry them back again !
Everyone else walks past the poor fruit to find the Doritos .

Alicatz66 · 19/04/2018 22:00

MorningsEleven

That made me howl .. I don't like grapes .. now I know why !!! Bloody perverts ..smash em up and make em into wine I say !

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 20/04/2018 04:04

Ah i think the op thinks its a reverse, because she agrees with well every one on this thread that no 2 oranges/2 bananas is not too much sugar, but shes come from the banana smoothie thread, where a there was a fairly long discussion between two people that it was. So shes taken the position that is on that thread but the reverse to her own that 2 pueces of fruit are too much sugar.

I think she was just checking wether fruit of all kinds was the root of all evil or just bananas.

If thats the case op, only on MN, will you find fruit demonised by the ortherixics and the fad dieters, yes theirs sugar and acid in fruit, but its different to the refined suger that is causing so much of a problem.

If you want to put 2 bananas un youe smoothie carry on, if your child wants to eat two oranges, great, theres nothing wtong with a bit of chocolate for pudding either.

There are going to be people who say otherwlse, but the reality is a healthy deit is a balanced one!
