He's 13 so I probably wouldn't care - I wouldn't let him wear it out in public but I don't think I'd care about a kid slumming it inside wearing that.

AlonsoTigerHeart · 17/04/2018 20:14

Yes. I mean his fashion sence is Shite but I'm fairly certain it won't be the start of the slippery slope that means next week hes a heroin dealing hoodlum

Todayissunny · 17/04/2018 20:14

He doesn't have school uniform so would probably wear it to school. ....

Walkingdeadfangirl · 17/04/2018 20:15

lol, thats quite funny, of course its ok for a teenager to wear it.

SoyDora · 17/04/2018 20:15

At 13 I don’t think I’d be too bothered. I mean it’s a crap t-shirt but it’s his choice of crap t-shirt.

Sirzy · 17/04/2018 20:16

Yes you were unreasonable to take it back.

It’s horrible but he is old enough to make his own decisions

liz70 · 17/04/2018 20:16

Well, teenagers have got to rebel somehow, I suppose…

DH would have bought a matching one for himself. Hmm

MyKingdomForBrie · 17/04/2018 20:17

I think you were a bit unreasonable but I wouldn’t let him wear it to school/around grandparents so I suppose that’s the same thing really.

I mean the emoticon there represents the word ‘shit’ as that is the commonly understood phrase, so while I don’t mind the emoticon I don’t like the fact that you’d look at the child and read a swear word.

I can be a bit prissy though.

MothertotheLordsofmisrule · 17/04/2018 20:18

He's 13, let him make his fashion clangers.

Then he can look back at old photos and cringe - like most of the population.WinkGrin

Todayissunny · 17/04/2018 20:19

...lol....
Ist the First time he has shopped for clothes alone ( we don't buy many and most of his stuff has been hand-me-downs from cousins).

Timeforabiscuit · 17/04/2018 20:19

I thought it was law for teenagers to make appalling fashion choices ?

If its his own money - fine

If you told him to buy something suitable for aunt mabels funeral and gave him £50 - not fine

VladmirsPoutine · 17/04/2018 20:20

It's not to my taste but he's 13. If he can't make bizarre sartorial choices at this age then when can he. Yabu. Let him have his little rebellious moment.

greenlavender · 17/04/2018 20:20

I think it's quite controlling of you really.

SneakyGremlins · 17/04/2018 20:21

I have a shirt that says "W⚓"

PutTheBunnyBackInTheBox · 17/04/2018 20:21

I think I'd take it back too, OP, I wouldn't want my DC wearing it.

Aridane · 17/04/2018 20:22

Oh bless him

bonnyshide · 17/04/2018 20:23

Lol....pick your battles, I really don't think this is a big deal.

Todayissunny · 17/04/2018 20:24

Controlling Confused? me Shock?
Maybe I am......

KT63 · 17/04/2018 20:24

I think you were harsh. If it had graphic swearing or something, fair enough. But that’s pretty mild and quite funny

Walkingdeadfangirl · 17/04/2018 20:25

The emoji is quite commonly used in mainstream adverts like hotels.com, its hardly offensive.

soundsystem · 17/04/2018 20:26

I’d have let him keep it, but would have purposely interpreted the emoticon as “poo” rather than shit and been studiously, embarrassingly clueless, perhaps encouraging younger sibs (in our case) to refer to him as “The Poo”....

landoflostcontent · 17/04/2018 20:26

My DS bought an extremely rude t-shirt. We went to visit his grandparents and he met us there. Wearing a thick sweater over the offending t-shirt. It was a very hot day...

TryingToForgeAnewLife · 17/04/2018 20:27

God I'm old...l don't "get" the T-shirt Blush

Todayissunny · 17/04/2018 20:28

Laughing my head off reading this......
Sadly i think I am so worried about (me and my parenting) being judged if he wears it.....

Loandbeholdagain · 17/04/2018 20:28

I probably wouldn’t be bothered to take it back but it would almost certainly be lost in the wash/shrunk/banned from outside use. I don’t swear and don’t expect my kids to swear at home or public place.
