My ds has purchased some utter shockers. Big pile of "not to be worn at grandmas" The worst one was a hoodie his mate had-one side of zip had cu on it, the other nt. He got sent home from 6th form in that.

NerrSnerr · 17/04/2018 20:51

Martagon when I was about 14 my friend bought me some similar thongs, one had a football goal on and it said 'guaranteed to score tonight' and the other said 'come and have a go if you think you're hard enough'

My parents never commented.

WeirdyMcBeardy · 17/04/2018 20:51

It's the poo emoji and that's what children know it as.

crunchymint · 17/04/2018 20:52

No I wouldn't care. But I would make sure to take a photo of him wearing it to show him when he is much older. This is basically one step up from 5 year olds laughing at poo and wee jokes. Terrible fashion sense, but basically harmless.

AnnieAnoniMouser · 17/04/2018 20:52

Personally I don’t care if implies ‘poo’ or ‘shit’. At 13 they wouldn’t be wearing a tshirt that says ‘I’m a poo/shit’. Not because of the image/word, but because of what that says about their behaviour. If it was ‘My taste is clothes is 💩’ then I wouldn’t have been so bothered and I’d live with it at home or out with mates, but not to school or Granny’s. But if he couldn’t be trusted not to wear it to school, then it would have gone back.

NerrSnerr · 17/04/2018 20:52

Oh and as a teenager I had a tshirt that said 'grateful Fcuk'

WeirdyMcBeardy · 17/04/2018 20:53

Oh yes, i had the "Fondle, Foreplay, FCUK" t shirt when I was a teenager. I thought it was great!

crunchymint · 17/04/2018 20:54

I also think on things like this you need to give some freedom and save your disapproval for things that matter.

Whipany · 17/04/2018 20:54

Hahaha! I like it, I would let my 13 year old wear that. I think it's quite funny!

theveryhighlife · 17/04/2018 20:56

I'm going to go against most views on here and say I'd have done the same as you OP and returned it!

Vitalogy · 17/04/2018 20:57

I'd just let him get on with it.
I don't get the joke/slogan though.

MonsteraDeliciosa · 17/04/2018 20:57

Nope tell a lie it was a t shirt that said Jesus is a Cunt
Now that's what I call proper offensive! Grin
A poo emoji is nothing.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 17/04/2018 20:58

I think it's funny. When I was about 12, my mum bought me a Victor Meldrew t-shirt that read "I don't bloody believe it!" - I wasn't allowed to say the word out loud but she didn't mind me wearing it!

toolazytothinkofausername · 17/04/2018 20:59

I remember my brother buying this t-shirt as a teenager. He thought it was hilarious and was very proud of it.

No, not "a shit" - "the shit"
i.e. da bomb/ the dog's bollox/ a great lad altogether

The tshirt wouldn't bother me tbh, but then DD is 16 now and I am worn down at this stage, so, so far down tongue piercing

LimeSpleen · 17/04/2018 21:01

I had that hoody Alonso. My mum wouldn't let me bring it in the house.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 17/04/2018 21:03

I think a lot of the issue is people dont understand "im the shit'

It means im the best, it comes from this is good shit.

So egotistical yes, millenial yes, a awlful design yes, something that you show his girlfriend at 21 to embaress hin yes.

Offensive and worthy of taking back to the shop nope not really

That said his 13 and your his mum but no ones going to judge you for having a son who thinks poop is funny or that hes the coolest dude ever.

Notevilstepmother · 17/04/2018 21:04

I’d not let him wear it to school, or visiting elderly relatives, but at 13 he is old enough to make his own mistakes. I’d tease him mercilessly about his poo t shirt in a toddler style though. Or I’d borrow a 6 year old and wait for the never ending “Why are you wearing a poo t shirt” type questions.

Idontdowindows · 17/04/2018 21:04

‘I’m a poo/shit’.

That's not what it says. It says "I'm THE shit". I.e. the best there is. The main man. The head honcho. The cream of the crop.

CaledonianQueen · 17/04/2018 21:05

Lol, your ds is going to totally rebel once he turns 18, buying the rudest t-shirts he can just to shock you! Like fcuk t-shirts with vintage pin up girls legs akimbo saying finger licking good!

Your ds is 13, he is not 5 anymore , however most five year old boys would be delighted with your ds’s choice.

My dh was your ds, he was forced to wear the same shirts mil bought for fil from m&s, he was bullied horrendously because mil had to control everything, his clothes and his glasses. We went shopping Together not long after we met and I encouraged him to pick whatever he wanted. In a fit of rebellion, he bought that fcuk t-shirt I described above. It fit like a glove and he looked his age instead of 55!

I thought he looked hot, he looked confident and happy, my parents thought it was hilarious but having two adult sons at home they were more than used to it! Mil predictably hit the roof, demanded he take it back and shouted at me saying ‘how dare you let him buy that!’ Which spoke volumes! I am now many years later a Mum to an 11 year old and if my ds wanted to wear a t-shirt with the poo emoji on I would buy it for him. As it is my ds is not in the least bit interested in emoji’s! He

My dh was 25 when I met him, yet his Mother treated him like you just treated your ds at 13. Don’t be like my MIL, there lies rebellion, a destroyed relationship and eventual no contact. In my experience it is those teenagers who are controlled the most who rebel the most. There is no shock factor in buying a rude t shirt if you let your teen express themselves.

gemsparkle84 · 17/04/2018 21:10

I would let him wear it when out with his mates. Definitely not to school or family events but I think to wear on a weekend is fine.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 17/04/2018 21:11

When I was 15 one of my favourite tee shirts was a band shirt with "Fat as Fuck" written on the back. It did nearly get me cautioned by the police (they ordered me to put my cardigan back on). Mum was so proud!😂

user1497787065 · 17/04/2018 21:15

I don't understand either. What is the picture supposed to be?

Hiptroubles · 17/04/2018 21:23

Oh dear its being misinterpreted. Spelling! Ah. Anyway.

I'm the shit means im the best. I'm number one! I'm 26 and this was said when we were teens too!

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 17/04/2018 21:34

I'd be ok with DS1 wearing it; surely when you're a teen you're meant to wear ridiculous clothes?

My Mum hit the roof when I appeared one Christmas morning with a 'Lets FCUK' t-shirt on. Life goes on.
