The pornstar look

I know, I know we should not be judging each other but the pornstar look? Why would you do that to yourself, over inflated boobs, over inflated lips what is it about it that appeals to some women. I presume men are attracted to it because it screams sexually interesting but I cannot understand why women are drawn to it. AIBU

Another thing to point out is that there is a huge industry around this look and many of the small business owners profiting from it are ran by women.
Hair extension technicians, beauty salons, fake tan specialists, eyelash extensions, Botox, lip fillers.
These are often businesses ran by women often part time and around children.
If you’re a young attractive woman with no qualifications it makes sense to get that look and then take a relatively cheap course to do Hollywood extensions or whatever and sell that look to other women.

I think it’s more complex than it just being about porn.

Why do people characterize being swayed by peer pressure or trends as something to be ashamed of?

It really isn't that 'women are too thick to make their own choices', its that 'humans are too human to not be swayed by peer pressure'.

We are social animals, we are programmed to fit into the pack and to gain the approval of the pack. Anyone who is completely immune to peer pressure is someone you probably don't want to hang out with due to their psychopathic tendencies.

There is nothing shameful in responding to peer/society/media pressure. There is also nothing wrong with pointing out that beauty ideals and standards are something that is generated by mass action and not the personal choice of each individual human being.

Did all the people who are suddenly into fake tan make that decision personally on their own? NO of course not. Would they have had the same sudden conversion to fake tan as the answer to their prayers if they were living in isolation away from media messages? NO of course not. Is there anything to be ashamed of in being swayed by peer pressure? NO of course not.

Teacuphiccup · 17/04/2018 17:09

Agree Morphone

I also think it’s possible to understand why you want to behave in a certain way and still want that.

TatianaLarina · 17/04/2018 17:11

Over inflated means what exactly?

My DD has big lips and is as I’ve aaid a 28gg or an h cup. All natural.

It means surgically enhanced as clearly stated on page 1.

I have a big mouth too, blonde hair etc, boobs - not enormous, but on the larger side. But this thread is not about women who look like this naturally.

Never had women degrade or belittle me for how I look. I have been sexually harassed and assaulted like many if not most women on the planet. But I’m not a professional victim. I don’t present my appearance as some pretend cross to bear.

I think all the girls on Towie look gorgeous and I love that look. If I was 20 again I’d copy it too. I don’t consider it a porn star look at all. Just glamorous.

TatianaLarina · 17/04/2018 17:15

on an individual level if I won the lottery I’d have hair extensions down my back, breast implants and my teeth whitened faster than you can say Camelot

Why? You look fine as you are.

If you’re a young attractive woman with no qualifications it makes sense to get that look and then take a relatively cheap course to do Hollywood extensions or whatever and sell that look to other women.

?? If you’re a young woman with no qualifications it makes sense to get some. Not sell cheap cack to other women who don’t need it.

truthybeach · 17/04/2018 17:18

Can the duck lips trend just die already. Big natural lips look lovely, fake puffy/lumpy ones not so much.

TatianaLarina · 17/04/2018 17:19

The op didn’t say fake in her op

She said ‘inflated’, which, as breasts and lips do not have a self-inflation mechanism, clearly refers to artificial enlargement, which OP then clarified on page 1.

Morphene · 17/04/2018 17:20

teacup yes indeed...I know why I always apologise before making points in committee meetings, but I can't stop myself from doing it. Conditioning is bloody powerful!

I particularly hate the cosmetics industry because they push a solution to problems they themselves create. They tell people that make up will make them feel better when actually they are telling people they don't look good enough with out it. They create misery while pretending to sell happiness in bottles. I hate them for that. With a passion.

Bluntness100 · 17/04/2018 17:20

Why? You look fine as you are

Ok, what you need to do is set up a website, where you can judge women and tell them if they do or do not look fine according to your standards and debase them of any notion of attractiveness they may have that differs from yours. You clearly are the boss of all women who should decide and the pinnacle of what women should aim for.

If you’re a young woman with no qualifications it makes sense to get some. Not sell cheap cack to other women who don’t need it

If you think any of it is cheap, you're either a very well of woman or talking shite.

Teacuphiccup · 17/04/2018 17:20

Well you might think I look fine as I am but it’s my body and I would enjoy it. I like playing dress up and shock horror people have different tastes.

And obviously it’s so so easy for young single mothers to get qualifications.
Honestly some people are never happy, at least they aren’t on benefits, they are doing the best they can.

Ok, you need to find another outlet for your hatred, try terrorism.

And if you think the beauty industry created thinning hair or brows, uneven or discoloured skin, dark circles under eyes, you are sadly mistaken.

spacestranger · 17/04/2018 17:23

Well it wouldn't be for me but each to their own! Why do you care OP?

Teacuphiccup · 17/04/2018 17:25

I just think this is another way to bash women.

You’re damned if you don’t and you’re damned if you do.

Some of the most resilient, warm hearted, clever, smart and switches on people I’ve ever met have worked in the beauty business (some of the most awful cunts too mind Grin) and mostly are working class women who would either be on benefits or minimum wage otherwise.

Zeelove · 17/04/2018 17:29

I have 'over inflated boobs' and 'overinflated lips'. I was born with them and get a lot of compliments from men and women. I'm extremely self conscious over my over inflated boobs though. To me this is like asking why someone has a squint or why someone has a birthmark on their face. Rude

Teacuphiccup · 17/04/2018 17:31

And I am anti porn and anti sex work but I find it hard to get my knickers in a twist about hair extensions and

Zeelove · 17/04/2018 17:31

And op. Women don't naturally look like this? They do.

Teacuphiccup · 17/04/2018 17:32

Sorry posted too soon.

Lip fillers.
Every generations fashion looks ridiculous.

truthybeach · 17/04/2018 17:34

doesn’t overinflated mean injected though? I have big boobs (hate them) & my friend has massive lips. I wouldn’t describe either as overinflated though.

TatianaLarina · 17/04/2018 17:36

This post is so crackpot as to deserve a special medal. Let me know when you can engage with the words on the page, rather than the invention in your head.

Accepting women exactly as they are is the opposite of judging them.

truthybeach · 17/04/2018 17:36

also they tend to look very different when in motion.
