To think Friends got stupid?

Ok I used to love the tv show years ago and started rewatching episodes on Netflix.

But what the hell is the one where Joey speaks French?! Are we really meant to believe he’s so stupid he can’t even repeat words and genuinely believes he’s speaking French? Hmm

I don’t mind the French episode - Ross having sex with dinosaurs is worse I think, but I do like how that pans out into holding his own funeral.

I LOVE Jack Geller - he is hilarious

I LOVE Jack Gellar.

When he has to leave the apartment to get home early because he can't drive at night "last year I accidentally drove into the nativity scene, they called it a hate crime"

@BuntyII I agree re Pre-London friends, I could watch the episodes before that over & over again, but something about some of the later episodes just didn't have the same appeal. I fact I think some of the episodes when Charlie / Mike were on the scene I think I've only watched once or twice Shock

SaucyJane · 16/04/2018 08:25

Maybe the pre-London preferences are because single chandler and Monica were more fun than chandler and Monica? Although when the others find out... joey being rushed through the apartment with chandler's hand over his mouth... "they don't know that we know that they know that we know"...

Special shout-out to pre London tom selleck - yes, "dr burke" IS hot!

Charlie was the worst. I hated her.

And while I didn’t mind Mike, he was no David!

I've been rewatching on Netflix, am halfway through the last season now and have loved every second of it, even the terrible episodes and awful guest characters. And ugh, Janice. My parents almost named me Janice and I'm so thankful they didn't because I can't hear the name without thinking of her laugh. My 16yo dd has watched all the episodes and loves them too. We've talked about how different things are now (especially in the early episodes when no-one had mobiles etc) and actually it's been quite educational in that respect.

I struggle to get my mouth round some words, so if i'm simply talking with friends and one of those pop up I purposely exaggerate the mispronunciation to avoid the embarrassment of actually failing. Regularly becomes Regulererellery for example. I always thought he was doing that with the French ep!

Ross has the worst episodes. He's scary. Also the tan one is ridiculous, dudes supposed to be intelligent and there is NO REASON TO COUNT. JUST TURN WHEN ITS STOPPED SPRAYING OH MY GOD.

But... Mississippi-less-ly???

bbpp · 16/04/2018 13:06

Mississippi-less-ly! Grin

I love Friends, I recently rewatched all 10 seasons on Netflix and it was like being in my teens/early 20s again. Some bits of it are dated and of their time, but it still makes me laugh out loud. I think the comedy was brilliantly written and brilliantly acted, there are at least one or two gems in pretty much every episode.

"Does it have to be a whole day?"
"Yes! That's how long it takes to love me!"
"I know, I sleep in the next room."
