To think Friends got stupid?

Ok I used to love the tv show years ago and started rewatching episodes on Netflix.

But what the hell is the one where Joey speaks French?! Are we really meant to believe he’s so stupid he can’t even repeat words and genuinely believes he’s speaking French? Hmm

YABVU... Friends is incredible. My personal faves are ‘UNAGI’ and the one with Ross and his fake tan. Grin

CadyHeron · 15/04/2018 22:52

Unagi. "Ah. Salmon skin roll."

TSSDNCOP · 15/04/2018 22:53

NooooOW CHICKENS!!!!!!!!!!

CadyHeron · 15/04/2018 23:00

NooooOW CHICKENS!!!!!!!!!!

Grin

I'm going to have that stuck in my head now lol.
The Grandma song as well.
Went something like
"last time you saw her she looked so much thinner,
lately she hasn't been coming to dinner.
Your mom and your dad said she went to Peru, but the truth is she died and some day you will too....
"la la la la LA" Grin

My DCs have started watching it, after we bought a new bed and I (heavily pregnant at the time) sat and watched DH move it up the stairs, helpfully shouting “pivot”.

Their favourites are the holiday armadillo and the one with Rachel’s hairless cat.

sammylady37 · 15/04/2018 23:06

I have found my people!!! I love friends and watch it most evenings. It’s funny, light hearted and comforting in its familiarity.

Favourites are the one with the jellyfish sting where when recounting the story there’s an anguished cry of “you don’t understand! You weren’t there!” and the one where Rachel flies to London for Ross’ wedding.

Cagliostro · 15/04/2018 23:06

After reading this thread though I absolutely must show them the French episode.

TSSDNCOP · 15/04/2018 23:06

Also:

Little black, little black, little black, little black curly hair.

And

STEPHANIE KNOWS ALL THE CHORDS

Cagliostro · 15/04/2018 23:07

Oh I love it on the plane, with Hugh Laurie. “It seems perfectly clear to me that you WERE on a break” :o

TSSDNCOP · 15/04/2018 23:07

Oh fuck me the cat

It's inside out,

MidnightAura · 15/04/2018 23:08

I adore Friends.

" Grandma's a person who everyone likes,
she bought you a train and a bright shiny bike,
but lately she hasn't been coming to dinner
And last time you saw her she looked so much thinner"

Rachel: "And just so you know, it's not that common, it doesn't happen to every guy and it is a big deal!"

Chandler: "I KNEW IT"

Grin
Cagliostro · 15/04/2018 23:08

Today we were watching the one with “I made a man with eyes of coal and a smile so bewitchin, how was I supposed to know that my mum was dead in the kitchen”

And the blackout one (the DCs were in hysterics when Ross gets attacked by the cat) “New York city has no power and the milk is getting sour, but for me it isn’t scary coz I stay away from dairy”

AssumethePerpendicular · 15/04/2018 23:09

It’s not a cat!
Some of my favourites are when joey finds out about chandler and Monica, Kathleen turners episodes and the twins birth, the other who will be along in a what now?

I have them all on dvd and watch on tv Blush

I was singing the cow in the meadow song today Grin

Cagliostro · 15/04/2018 23:09

TSS DD’s favourite quote is “why is your cat in one of my bowls” “it’s not, I’m defrosting a chicken”

PunkrockerGirl59 · 15/04/2018 23:13

It was always an incredibly unfunny badly acted pile of old shite though Grin

ivenoideawhatimdoing · 15/04/2018 23:15

The lobster episode will be the highlight of my adolescence and if I see that episode on telly I will ALWAYS watch it.

I admit it's dated and some of the jokes are sketchy but I feel that adds to the authenticity of the characters.

What do you put in your coffee? A spoon, your hands, YOUR FACE.

TSSDNCOP · 15/04/2018 23:15

It hisses "Rachel"

The swings!

ivenoideawhatimdoing · 15/04/2018 23:16

Also, HURRICANE GLORIA DIDN'T BREAK THE PORCH SWING - MONICA DID

Graphista · 15/04/2018 23:17

One of my favourite lines ("written" by Matthew Perry who had a fair amount of script input)

"This isn't a marriage! It's the worlds worst hangover!" Grin

TSSDNCOP · 15/04/2018 23:17

Punk eleventy billion people globally will bang their wrists together and go "NA HAH!"

SaucyJane · 15/04/2018 23:20

DP can't stand "friends", so I never get to watch it any more. Argh!

If anyone hasn't seen them before, there's loads of the bloopers on YouTube - lots more entertainment. Lisa Kudrow's laugh is so infectious!

Graphista · 15/04/2018 23:24

"That's a lot of information to get in 30 seconds" episode also reminds me of the episode where we learn Phoebe ate a cheeseburger after breaking up with Duncan, chandler has a 3rd nipple and Joey was in a porno and of course

Married a lesbian
Left a guy at the altar
Married a gay ice dancer
Threw a girls wooden leg in a fire
Living in a box!! GrinGrin

LiveLifeWithPassion · 15/04/2018 23:24

I love friends but Rachel and Joey getting together really was stupid.
One of my favourite episodes is the ‘I’m Joey and I’m disgusting’ one. I think I missed quite a bit from laughing so much.

CadyHeron · 15/04/2018 23:24

Also, HURRICANE GLORIA DIDN'T BREAK THE PORCH SWING - MONICA DID

Love that episode.
"It's Thanksgiving Day, not Truth Day!" Grin

"The mail man didn't steal your Playboys. ROSS DID!"

"Chandler and Monica are LIVING TOGETHER!"

Rachel - "I wasn't supposed to put beef in the trifle!"

Joey - "I wanna GO!"

Ross and Monica's mum - "That's a lot of information to get in 30 seconds" Grin

Cagliostro · 15/04/2018 23:26

We have the 40 disc set, I need to go through and watch the commentaries and outtakes :o
