If the council in Windsor wanting to clear homeless out ?

I mean why don't the royal couple open a shelter instead given they are 'humanitarian' ?

How strange that people are happy for taxpayers having to fork out up to £30 million for security for just two people while essential services in Britain are cut to the bone. Confused

The80sweregreat · 12/04/2018 15:35

I dont suppose we will ever know the full cost of security for any of the royal weddings.

nevertheless she's from a background where marriages are tossed aside almost on a whim,

Puzzled what 'background' do you mean?

Bluelady · 12/04/2018 16:22

The security is for "us". It's to protect all the hordes of people who will flood into Windsor that day.

Dulra · 12/04/2018 16:27

I'm assuming you mean the Hollywood background? In which case I'd agree with you

Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/04/2018 16:41

Yes, I was referring to the Hollywood marriage merry-go-round thing ... apologies for being unclear

ScreamingValenta · 12/04/2018 16:44

I do find it a bit hypocritical that they are asking for charity donations and make out they are all about charity and giving, whilst blowing a hideous amount of money on excess and extravagance for themselves.

I agree with every word of this.

expatinscotland · 12/04/2018 16:49

'I do find it a bit hypocritical that they are asking for charity donations and make out they are all about charity and giving, whilst blowing a hideous amount of money on excess and extravagance for themselves.'

This. A family of billionaires whose investment portfolio included the likes of Brighthouse and who actively tax avoid. But they're activists and humanitarians who are going to change the world. Hmm

derxa · 12/04/2018 16:57

So many extremely pompous comments. Grin

biscuitraider · 12/04/2018 17:10

The murder rate in London now equal to New York, huge police cuts, including local police stations across the country shutting down, mental health units across the country shutting down, social services at breaking point, NHS on the point of collapse, disability payments cut or stopped, benefit sanctions, zero hours contracts........ the list goes on and on. But what the hell, as long as the royal family need our money we'll just keep throwing it at them. Bloody obscene, and not an ounce of shame from any of them. Absolutely disgusting. Their entitlement is unbelievable......Your wedding, pay your own bloody security.

Bread and Circuses!
But not much bread!

Goldilocks3Bears · 13/04/2018 17:37

As usual, this thread has become 1) about something else and 2) bitchy about the bride. Because given half a chance, let's start poking holes in another woman shall we?!

The original question was about homeless people. I don't think it's fair if they are being 'cleared out' but I don't know enough about how that is being done and if they are being given shelter for the week, but either way, if it is being done for appearance reasons, then it sits wrong with me.

margesimpson40 · 13/04/2018 17:38

*Lifebeginswithgin the homeless are an eyesore ... WTF ... I'm sure they are all so sorry for making towns look unpleasant. So many things wrong with that comment.

Alicatz66 · 13/04/2018 17:39

I give zero Fs about it too !!
Going to team up with my sister who also has no interest and do a spa day with no telly !

biscuitraider · 13/04/2018 17:58

What should the homeless do, kill themselves?, "well pardon me for being alive", is a phrase that comes to mind. I think the spectacle of a royal wedding in all its pomp and extravaganza is an eyesore. I find that far more offensive than the sight of human beings being forced to live on the streets because of uncaring, callous governments. What are the homeless supposed to do, make themselves invisible.

ToftyAC · 13/04/2018 18:00

I have no interest either. She’s a bit up her own arse, but then most celebs are a bit. Harry has always come across as a nice enough chap. But yeah, the herding our of the homeless and the fucking mahoosive bill for security etc that the taxpayer is meeting is sodding outrageous. There’s a lot could be done for £24M.

Spangles1963 · 13/04/2018 18:06

I would not be the slightest bit surprised if there is either a) some sort of scandal involving Ms. Markle within a couple of years of their marriage or b) they split up within 5 years.

SaltireSaltire · 13/04/2018 18:24

nevertheless she's from a background where marriages are tossed aside almost on a whim.

Of the Queens 4 children Anne, Charles, Andrew are divorced.
Her royal predecessors for centuries have treated marriage like a circus with the right to take ‘mistresses’ at will.
Not sure we can criticise ‘Hollywood’ marriages really.

SaltireSaltire · 13/04/2018 18:27

We all need to wake up from this nonsense and get rid of this over privileged family (and the hangers on) living off taxpayers expense while our NHS and Public Services crumble.

sunnymum77 · 13/04/2018 19:19

Aww, come on...you only get married once (well, twice for Meghan). But to a Prince;) Personally, I want to go to Windsor to find the Suits cast...Patrick J Adams and Gabriel Macht! It’s worth them getting married to have them all coming to the UK!

The80sweregreat · 13/04/2018 19:24

My friend today stared about H and M on the ‘ it’s lovely his found love ‘ etc etc. I did agree that he seems a nice man and I don’t wish them ill but - the cost of it all the fact I can’t see it lasting etc - she was not impressed with my views! We agreed to disagree.

SukiTheDog · 13/04/2018 19:28

@Saltire.... I’m ok with the Queen but how many young riyals can do charity and “open things”.

The80sweregreat · 13/04/2018 19:37

I think most people don’t mind the Queen really - even most republicans seem to grudgingly agree she’s ok and five her duty.
It’s the others most seem to have a problem with.
