Scone, jam then cream. Your dp is correct

ObiJuanKenobi · 11/04/2018 10:49
Shock

Justwaitingforaline · 11/04/2018 10:50

DP is being U. The cream acts as the butter with the jam on top!

ObiJuanKenobi · 11/04/2018 10:51

Yes that's what I thought! You would put jam and then butter on toast.

OP posts:
Redglitter · 11/04/2018 10:51

Definitely the one on the right

But as in all the previous threads about this you'll get a pretty even split of opinion.

Even though you're totally wrong Grin

Bexter801 · 11/04/2018 10:51

I'm in agreeance with your dp....looks yummySmile

GeekyWombat · 11/04/2018 10:52

The left. The cream is in lieu of butter. Obviously.

user1486241726 · 11/04/2018 10:52

Sorry OP but the one on the right is the way I do it Grin

Aprilmightmemynewname · 11/04/2018 10:52

Your dp sorry.

user1486241726 · 11/04/2018 10:52

And yes I am now contemplating going to the shops for clotted cream and scones...

pudcat · 11/04/2018 10:52

Depends if you are in Cornwall or Devon. Devon is cream on bottom. Cornish is jam on bottom

HighwayDragon1 · 11/04/2018 10:53

Spread the jam, dollop the cream!

ObiJuanKenobi · 11/04/2018 10:53

I'm going to be one of those awful posters who asks a question and then disagrees with all of those with opposing views on this Biscuit

OP posts:
DownWithThatSortofTing · 11/04/2018 10:53

You're both being unreasonable by arguing about it and posting pictures instead of just eating it!
Both are fine.

Namethecat · 11/04/2018 10:54

Apparently the Cornish way is jam then cream, whereas it cream then jam for Devon scones. I guess you both need to do another one but swap to see which tastes better 😉 !

Bexter801 · 11/04/2018 10:54

Have you started both op?

FoofFighter · 11/04/2018 10:54

#teamDP

negomi90 · 11/04/2018 10:55

Its Cornwall vs Devon. Devon (and you are right), cream then jam.

ObiJuanKenobi · 11/04/2018 10:56

I'm in neither Devon or Cornwall but my grandma is from Teighmouth so must have got it from there.
I've just tried his and to be fair it's nicer Shock more cream.

OP posts:
knowwhereyourheadis · 11/04/2018 10:56

I'm from Devon so it's cream smothered then jam blobbed on top.

My OH is of Cornish roots, so he is the other way.

It tastes the same anyway, so just do what you enjoy!

(Anyway it works well as you're not both looking for the jam pot at the same time, right?).

MoistCantaloupe · 11/04/2018 10:56

JAM ON TOP, JAM ON TOP!
SHARE YOUR SCONES!

GeminiRising · 11/04/2018 10:57

Jam then cream.

Any other way is just wrong. Completely.

CAAKE · 11/04/2018 10:57

#teamDP here too.

MaryShelley1818 · 11/04/2018 10:58

Jam then cream is correct!!
The other way just looks daft!

LadyLance · 11/04/2018 10:58

Jam then cream as otherwise the jam can slide off the cream or you don't get enough cream. The queen apparently agrees.
