The e at the end isn't silent

It is in Yorkshire Grin ... maybe a few would use it, but not usually

00100001 · 11/04/2018 11:49

YOU'RE ALL WRONG

Re scone topping order
Zaphodsotherhead · 11/04/2018 11:52

DP. And there should be butter underneath the jam.

Trust me, I'm an expert on eating scones. Oh, and it's scown too, before anyone comes in and is wrong on that one as well.

Katedotness1963 · 11/04/2018 11:55

Jam, then cream.

Weedsnseeds1 · 11/04/2018 11:55

Butter, jam, cream or your ratios are all wrong.
Another vote for blackcurrant rather than strawberry.
Butter, treacle, cream for thunder and lightning (although this combo is equally acceptable on thickly sliced, crusty, white bread).

halcyondays · 11/04/2018 11:56

cream first then jam. cream replaces butter.

DownWithThatSortofTing · 11/04/2018 11:56

Butter and cream? Revolting!

SirVixofVixHall · 11/04/2018 11:57

Cream in lieu of butter, the jam drizzled on top. Yum.

MullinerSpec · 11/04/2018 12:00

I have a sudden urge to have Scones!!!!

1st pref: Scone, Jam, Cream,
2nd pref: Scone, Cream, Jam,
3rd pref: Scone, Nutella, Cream,

Actually they are all my first pref. Damn you OP I'm salivating!!!

LaurieMarlow · 11/04/2018 12:05

You are right.

However, both of you could be doing with more cream.

RedDwarves · 11/04/2018 12:05

In Australia, it's always scone, then jam, then cream.

So, I guess Cornwall wins on the international front. Wink

PretABoire · 11/04/2018 12:09

Left is correct - how are you even supposed to spread cream onto jam? Surely it just blobs and pushes the jam around?

HoneyBadger32 · 11/04/2018 12:29

i think jam first makes more sense because you can spread it on the scone, nbut once the cream goes on you're trying to spread onto a moving lump?

ArcheryAnnie · 11/04/2018 12:30

Butter, treacle, cream for thunder and lightning (although this combo is equally acceptable on thickly sliced, crusty, white bread).

God, I want this now. (On bread, not a scone.)

SavvyBlancBlonde · 11/04/2018 12:30

In Australia they use squirty cream, which is a crime unto itself!

00100001 · 11/04/2018 12:31

savvy :O

..... :O

CaptainHammer · 11/04/2018 12:32

Your DP is right, jam first. I really want a scone now!

TakeMe2Insanity · 11/04/2018 12:33

I think jam looks prettier on the top but then you don’t taste it on the scone plus you can’t pile on the cream (the whole point imo). Your dp is correct.

Cream then jam usually but when put side by side both look delish!Shock

ObiJuanKenobi · 11/04/2018 12:43

We didn't share just one We shared 4!

I tried DPs and it was nicer so I'll admit defeat here, just don't tell him. Much creamier Blush

Has anyone else now made plans to bake scones in the next few days?
Just adding Rhoda's to the Tesco list...

halfwitpicker · 11/04/2018 12:47

Dunno. Both look alright.

Makingworkwork · 11/04/2018 12:49

Butter, jam and then cream.

bridgetreilly · 11/04/2018 12:49
