Your DP is right. If you can put jam on top of your cream, you haven't used enough cream.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 11/04/2018 10:58

The only way to avoid arguments..
Cream then jam then more cream

You're welcome

DramaAlpaca · 11/04/2018 10:59

The one on the right is correct - as long as it has butter underneath that jam.

Bexter801 · 11/04/2018 10:59

Yeah,I think the cream on top would be tastier,as would imagine the jam on top would be too overpowering(knock the fresh cream taste away) I'm way over thinking this!

knowwhereyourheadis · 11/04/2018 11:00

MaryShelley has just insulted the whole of Devon....

knowwhereyourheadis · 11/04/2018 11:00

Spam88 - you make a little well in the cream to fit more jam in!

MsHomeSlice · 11/04/2018 11:01

It's clotted cream so that goes on first!

if it is whipped cream or, god forbid, squirty then that goes on top of the jam. Which would be on top of butter.

viques · 11/04/2018 11:02

Jam then cream. I understand that when we Brexit this will be a clause in one of the agreements relating to Proper and Sensible Food Standards.

Luckingfovely · 11/04/2018 11:02

Ah the endless war of Devon vs Cornwall. You will never find an agreement or consensus on this.

(But jam first is obviously right Grin).

Abetes · 11/04/2018 11:03

Jam first, then cream. Only that way can you get a great dollop of cream on.

ReinettePompadour · 11/04/2018 11:03

You are correct. Your DP is BVU thinking he is correct Grin

HunterHearstHelmsley · 11/04/2018 11:03

Cream then jam obviously

I do it like the one on the right, only as i find it less messy to properly spread the jam on then a dollop of cream that kind of evens its self out when you add the top on the scone.

TegKernow · 11/04/2018 11:10

Jam first. Every time.

If you’re doing it the other way, you’re doing it wrong (or you’re in/from Devon).

Cornwall rules, Devon drools Grin

SaucyJane · 11/04/2018 11:14

Erm. You're both very very wrong.

Put the nasty jam and cream in the bin, where they belong.

Take a fresh hot scone.

Slather it in lovely golden salty butter.

Take a bite

Realise that you have seen the light

TESTIFY!!!

Grin
TegKernow · 11/04/2018 11:15

Glad to see you’re using proper cream, none of that Devonian rubbish..

Grin
TaytoAllDay · 11/04/2018 11:15

Jam then cream.. Sorry but DP is right Grin

Papplewapplewoo · 11/04/2018 11:17

YABU OP
DP IS NBU

Trinity66 · 11/04/2018 11:17

I hate cream

Thunderblunder · 11/04/2018 11:19

I'm from Devon but I still say jam then cream and your DP is right.

Catspaws · 11/04/2018 11:19

You are correct!

It's easier to spoon jam onto cream than vice versa, and it's more visually appealing!

cardibach · 11/04/2018 11:20

Jam then cream, because of relative consistency. Even with clotted cream the jam is thicker and stickier, so if you try to spread it on top of the right amount of cream, they mix. Spreading cream on jam works and you get two distinct layers.

viques · 11/04/2018 11:20

Ps why are you and your husband sharing a scone? That is so many layers of wrong I can't even start on them. though at least your share is bigger. Go Sista!!
