Loads of shops, bars and restaurants are now allowing dogs in them.
I'm very allergic and one of my dc is too.
It's so widespread now. Such little thought for those with allergies.

Christ, the hysterical germophobes on this thread would have an aneurysm if they knew how many lunches I had to eat as a dog groomer in the salon... with the dogs! Funnily enough I don't ever remember ingesting any hair, or being mauled by rabid snobbery mutts for a lick of my sandwich, or (my personal favourite on these threads) been violated by a dog sniffing my crotch. But like I said, nothing whips MN into a frenzy like dogs.

I’d rather share a cafe / pub with a hundred dogs than one badly behaved tantrumming child, now they are everywhere!

BringMeCoffeePlease · 11/04/2018 12:53

The more dogs, the better. Let them take over the world.

Yes, it's vile. Can't go in many parks and most beaches now as I find it offensive to have dogs running at me and jumping up. They're always off the lead because the owners think they are in perfect control - they're not. I'm disabled and fear being knocked over, and also plain just don't want dogs near me. Hard to find hotels and pubs now which DON'T allow them. Would never stay anywhere 'pet friendly' (by which they mean dogs, who takes any other pet to hotels etc?) Don't get it at all, but I guess it means more profit takes precedence over the minority with allergies/those who find it unhygienic or whatever.

Well yes, that attitude is prevalent in this country... children are hated whereas dogs are adored. It makes me sick. Sometimes I take my well behaved children to a pub for lunch...the looks of disdain they get while some mangy mutt is fawned over.

Because they shed hairs, bring other living creatures in their hair and bring dirt into what should be a clean environment

No more dirt/bacteria on a dog's paws than you'd find on the soles of your own shoes. Human's shed hairs too and have you seen the studies which show how dirty the average handbag is? These are put on chairs and tables all the time...

AngelsSins · 11/04/2018 13:15

People who live with dogs tend to have stronger immune systems. They're also less likely to have heart attacks, and if they do, they're more likely to survive.

Dogs offer support and comfort to sick children in hospital, lonely people in care homes. They help us find drugs, money, weapons, cadavers, and more.

Dogs look after and protect children, farm animals and property.

Dogs help search and rescue teams, as well as the police and customs.

Dogs massively help the blind and people with other disabilities.

Dogs are wonderful animals that give us so much. But yeah, the world should revolve around germphobic humans....

Drainedandconfused · 11/04/2018 13:20

This is good news, I’m pleased dogs are being allowed into more places but only if they are well behaved and trained obviously.

I think I may be allergic to badly behaved children of which I have encountered many whilst out and about during the Easter holidays. They seem to give me a headache and a nervous twitch.

tortelliniforever · 11/04/2018 13:23

Orangettes - that's a ridiculous example as it is only ONE restaurant. If dogs are allowed everywhere where can people go to avoid them?

monkeysox · 11/04/2018 13:27

Beaches, parks fine.
Wtf are some people on.
I can't breathe if exposed to dog in a confined space.
The odd dog friendly place. Fine. Put a sign out to warn me not to go in.
The retail park I was talking about has 20 places that allow dogs now

Dogs (and houses with dogs in them) all smell pretty awful - but dog owners are like smokers, they can't smell it themselves and all think somehow they and their particular dog are the exception to the rule . . .

I can just about bear them in pubs but wouldn't want to buy clothes from a shop that was regularly frequented by lots of dogs, as they'd smell bad too!

Orangettes · 11/04/2018 13:28

@tortelliniforever - Dogs aren't allowed everywhere - I know because we only stay in hotels and eat in restaurants that are dog friendly and it can be a challenge at times. I'm sure given the supposedly high number of dog haters in the UK, there must be plenty of business owners who share your dog hating views and won't allow dogs near their business.

Choklitdoknut · 11/04/2018 13:30

formerbabe i find that too....children hated and bloody dogs are welcome. Actual small humans are resented but barking hairy inconveniences are given buckets of attention.

Mrsbadger77 · 11/04/2018 13:31

Dogs do not belong in cafes , pubs or shops except assistance dogs obvs. It's just another example of people's selfishness whereby they put their own needs above anyone else.

TellOutMySoul · 11/04/2018 13:34

I'm not allergic to dogs but I really don't like them and my children are nervous of them. When we stay in hotels I always check they are pet-free and would never go into a restaurant that had animals inside.

I'm just not a fan.

Wornoutbear · 11/04/2018 13:34

I've just come in from lunch with a friend. There were two dogs in the cafe, sat under the tables with their owner. There were also two small children with their mothers. The children ran up and own, throwing toys and yelling, whilst their mothers played with their phones. Dogs every time!

Choklitdoknut · 11/04/2018 13:36

Can you imagine if someone said they prefer cats to smelly annoying old people?

Wolfiefan · 11/04/2018 13:36

How is it selfish if my dog sits quietly at my feet in a corner of the pub? She doesn't bother anyone, make any noise or mess indoors.

angryburd · 11/04/2018 13:37

I can't believe people prefer horrible germ ridden ANIMALS to precious babies!!!

missyB1 · 11/04/2018 13:38

children hated and bloody dogs welcome

I wonder if it’s because the dogs are usually better behaved? I have kids and a dog, I manage to control them all no problem. I have however had many a meal ruined by other people’s badly behaved kids, I’ve never had any meal / coffee ruined by a dog.
