To ask if you've heard of a potato scallop

When I was a teenager I'd quite often buy a potato scallop for 20p from the chippy on the walk home from swimming. It was a slice of battered potato and was delicious. Where I live now no one has heard of them. Have you and if yes where do you live? :)

I too am baffled by the term oop north. Oop is presumably like loop without the l . There are bound to be some places that say up like that but it's not generically northern at all. You've made me want a scallop now too.

No, not oo like in loop but oo like in look or book. That's a southern look in a book, not a northern look in a book, which depending on which bit of the north you are from, could in fact, sound like loop.

Liverpool here. Best thing ever 2 scollops loads of salt and vinegar on a buttered barm cake with chippy curry sauce. Mmmmmm

I am in the NW and we have potato scallops in our chippies. I also know scallops to be slices of potato fried in a frying pan. Lovely when you use left over cold potatoes.

Yes, like a potato bhaji but not spicy. At least two Indian restaurants I know of do potato bhajis, which are like mini scallops in spiced batter.
