To find floral tributes being left for Harry Vincent offensive

This is an attempt to intimidate the innocent family. Flowers should be removed - isn’t it littering?

"Regards Rotherham no one has condemned the whole Asian so called Muslim community? Why would they as it’s clearky stupid."

But you invoked this community in, I'm guessing, an effort to reinforce your own point.

I'm struggling to see what the Rotherham/Telford thing has to do with the traveller community or this situation around tributes being left in an inappropriate manner, or why you alone brought it up.

Jaxhog · 10/04/2018 15:31

Of course they should have been removed. It was a constant and grim reminder to the burglary victim. It isn't so much that the flowers are intimidating, it's that the relatives and friends are also there. I can see how that would feel threatening.

I've hated these flower tributes, since receiving them after I was mugged outside my house a few years ago. It was a grizzly thought that someone assumed I'd died in the attack. I still don't know who left them.

IIIustriouslyIllogical · 10/04/2018 15:33

As people keep saying - it's not all Travellers, it's these odious examples of Travellers that people have the issues with.

But don't let that stop the faux outrage.....

miffytherabbit1974 · 10/04/2018 15:35

Well said, @Lweji.

What is astonishing to me is how a situation like this seems to give certain individuals a free reign to express their own bigotry in a quite extravagant manner.

I've not seen one single comment or remark on here or on social media in favour of these tributes being left where they are or in defence of the burglar. I haven't once defended the former. This is quite different from calling out bigotry and prejudice targeted towards an entire community or ethnic group.

Mydoghatesthebath · 10/04/2018 15:36

I brought it up because some posters are happy to defend a community whose way of like by design is deeply mysogynistic. I condem their principals as a community but not individuals unless they are individually criminal.

I brought up Rotherham as you said replace this with Muslim! I did. I find the Muslim religion and all religions deeply mysogynistic and controlling and so offensive.

I find paedophilic behaviour offensive and you know as well as I do that the perverts in Rotherham and Telford escaped justice because of political
Correctness and police officers and social workers labelling white girls as slags and child prostitutes Angry

Bare facts can be disturbing but they should never be ignored.
Not detailing but firstly this family were career criminals. The mans death is no loss to society and no floral
Tributes should be tolerated by his victims house or threats against him tolerated either.

have you had much experience of travellers??

Mydoghatesthebath · 10/04/2018 15:40

SweetSummerChild

Agree with you but no conversation like this is possible without being called a racist or bigot. Some facts are politically ok and other facts arnt.

Doesn’t alter the facts though.

YourVagesty · 10/04/2018 15:45

it makes me absolutely furious. It's hideous and designed to intimidate. The poor family (i.e. the ones who were attacked in their own home).

There must be a law that can protect them and their property from further assault from these low-life creatures.

CupofFrothyCoffee · 10/04/2018 15:46

Local hotel tried to do the decent thing recently and let them hire their wedding hall..what did they do? Pulled a gun and shot one of their own

I do think it's sad when anyone dies, even burglars. Having said that, I understand that the shooter felt he needed to defend himself

Shock Jeez this thread is ridiculous. Some of you people will defend the indefensible. I'm out.

IIIustriouslyIllogical · 10/04/2018 15:48

I think the Police need to step up to the mark here & remove all tributes - the whole street is being intimidated by these people.

"I brought up Rotherham as you said replace this with Muslim!"

I didn't say this. I said:

" Imagine swapping out the word "traveller" and then inserting another minority group gay/jewish/black/asian etc etc and then re-read it."

I think both of us are at risk of running around in circles here. The point I was making was about conflating the actions of an individual with that of an entire community. As I said in my last comment, I didn't mention Telford or Rotherham or indeed the Muslim community.

I don't agree with a huge amount within the religion of Islam (and indeed all religions). Criticising a religion/ideology/culture or smearing a whole section of society are two very different things to me. I accept that other might not see things in this way.

MidnightAura · 10/04/2018 15:49

I was reading that the shrine has been put back up. Dirty low life scum bags. Heart of gold and too good to walk this earth? Yeah right.

Can't say I feel sympathetic for a man breaking into someone's home and not for the first time. Scum.

I realise he was a father and the children are innocent and upset, but put the flowers on a grave, not on private property, which must count as trespassing surely?

EdgeOf17 · 10/04/2018 15:53

The family have returned to replace the flowers Angry

I would be terrified if i lived around there right now Sad

Read my previous comments on this thread.

Even I had never had experience of travellers, or indeed any other community, it wouldn't make it ok for me to defame, smear or stereotype the entire community/ethnic group. I accept that some people might view this differently to me though.

Springiscoming123 · 10/04/2018 15:55

a normal elderly couple one with caring duties to his ill wife has been smashed to pieces through no fault of their own

they did not go looking for trouble, that came looking for them, its heartbreaking and im sure that this will effect both the pensioners for the rest of their days, both will be under huge stress and frightened for their future,if they ever have one

nobody can imagine what they are going through, like i said trouble came looking for them

Heart of steel more like

SaucyJane · 10/04/2018 15:57

"He wasn't a monster" says his deluded cousin.

Er. Fuck OFF. I think targeting elderly and vulnerable people and breaking into their homes to steal their belongings is absolutely fucking monstrous!

stitchglitched · 10/04/2018 15:58

Yes just seen his relatives were back at his home as of 2pm today. How can anyone say it isn't about intimidation? They could have a shrine anywhere.

TSSDNCOP · 10/04/2018 15:58

Jesus wept, they’re bloody back again. His lovely cousin says:

"He wasn't a murderer, he wasn't a rapist, they're putting [sic] him as a monster."

The Osborns will never go home now.

notacooldad · 10/04/2018 15:58

Ok so it's not all travellers that have left shit behind year in year out. Only the ones that stop at the park.
It's not all male teenage lads that intimidate our community year in year out, only the ones that do!
I know that you cant blame every person in a community but no one seems to responsibility for leaving things as they find them.

I just drove past our permanent travellers park and nearly took a picture of what it was like. Bloody disgusting and yet the council collections go there, they gave welfare officers that check on them to make sure everything is ok ( and get abuse for their efforts and threats of dogs being set on them)
I losl patience years ago with amount of abuse me and my team had to put up on a constant basis. I've been moved away from that team but still work with colleagues that have to engage.
All I can say is same shit different month, every month!

That would be a no thenGrin. It's usually the people who don't have a f#c#ing clue what they're like that shout the loudest and defend them.

turnipfarmers · 10/04/2018 16:00

Regardless of what he has done, he's still somebodies son.
