This is an attempt to intimidate the innocent family. Flowers should be removed - isn’t it littering?

Springnowplease-the family are Irish travellers. They say so themselves

Where have they said so?
I suspect they will be keeping their heritage, English Romany or Irish Traveller, on the low, because they have possibly now brought massive shame on their own 'community' and any reprisals, including the taking down of the flowers, could come from their own people. To make it clear, it will not just be non travellers or non criminals who are disgusted by vile criminals who prey on and target old or vulnerable people.

Mightymucks · 11/04/2018 12:56

Flowers are down again for the fourth time...

SaucyJane · 11/04/2018 12:56

Although I think you'd struggle to find pictures like those caused even by the most riotous stag do in Benidorm (and there are many, many more pics where those came from!), however desperate you are to be PC.

Aeroflotgirl · 11/04/2018 12:57

spring is disgusting isen't it, apology, they are the ones who should be apologising to him. I hope Mr Osbourne does no such thing. I bet they would be defending their own if somebody broke into their home and tried to steal or hurt their family, they look like the types who would put them six feet under. No moral compass at all. Dragged up, not brought up, the lot of them.

Lweji · 11/04/2018 12:58

If I holiday abroad, I try to avoid Brits as much as possible.

Not in the UK, though?

By your reasoning we should avoid everyone based on what some members of that group do.

Lweji · 11/04/2018 12:59

Although I think you'd struggle to find pictures like those caused even by the most riotous stag do in Benidorm

Only because it's cleaned out every day.

Springiscoming123 · 11/04/2018 13:01

what exactly is their heritage??

Springnowplease · 11/04/2018 13:05

Alpine, I heard one of the family in an interview. Do shut up now.

Also gypsies call themselves gypsies not travellers. Another clue right there.

SaucyJane · 11/04/2018 13:07

Ah right. So none of the Brits in Benidorm pay for hotels or apartments or the beers/pizza boxes they produce? And the pics look just like the ones above do they, complete with fridges that need to be disposed of properly, and mattresses and old ovens?

I mean - here's a breakdown of Spanish tourism and apparently Brits make up about 25% of that, so yeah your comparison is utterly valid, given that travellers make the same contribution to the UK economy, what with all the tax they pay and all the rent they pay for their sites... Hmm

CupofFrothyCoffee · 11/04/2018 13:07

It's not racist to say that one's own experience with Travellers has been uniformly negative. For example, every time Travellers visit my area, they leave a huge amount of rubbish and human waste, block businesses from operating and attempt to steal their stuff, there's an increase in burglaries, antisocial behaviour and violent crime (with pubs being advised to close by the police), dogs go missing (and, in one horrible case, one was found dead by the camp after they'd left - a few months old spaniel puppy that had been stolen a few days previously)

Unfortunately, where I live, they're not just travelling through, they're living in the housing estates causing absolute chaos, but hey, apparently it's racist to say that. All the stuff you mention happens every day.

Beaverhausen · 11/04/2018 13:10

I just feel that if they want to put tributes up to put it up where he lived, no need to intimidate people with their behaviour and that is exactly what it is because they know the gypsie community is untouchable, the police will not bother as they are too frightened of them.

They live by their rules and do not care about who else it affects.

Alpineflowers · 11/04/2018 13:15

Springiscoming123-what exactly is their heritage??

Good question, as I said going by the surnames that have been in the press, they are English Romany Gypsies.
The point I was trying make earlier though, is that often they are confused themselves about their own 'heritage' and history. and especially now with so many Irish Travellers coming here
Years ago, the English Romany were hawkers, menders of pots and pans, scrap dealers, agricultural labourers (hop pickers in Kent for example). There was a Romany who was a highly decorated soldier who fought for this country in WW1, but this, mostly law abiding, history is now being forgotten or misrepresented.
As I said earlier, being a 'traveller' is more of a lifestyle choice now and what a traveller actually is or was has become confused. Look at the way Appleby Horse Fair has changed over the years. It was once a genuine horse fair attended only by farmers and English Romany. Not anymore

TSSDNCOP · 11/04/2018 13:15

Mighty I love your interjections.

It’s like whore’s drawers on that fence isn’t it?

Disclaimer: no offence to all sex trade workers

Springiscoming123 · 11/04/2018 13:21

thanks, but im confused what is the heritage they are trying to keep now?

i guess the wanting to travel but that is limited now and those that have always lived in settled housing probably only know settled housing

im just confused what heritage they want to keep

Mydoghatesthebath · 11/04/2018 13:22

People cry racism to shut down Uncomfortable facts.

Racism isn’t fact based. It’s an inane response to a prejudice.,

Traveller sites are left in a disgusting mess? fact. If anyone has photos of sites left clean and tidy please post.

Aeroflotgirl · 11/04/2018 13:22

Exactly, they put the floral tributes in their own place, not near Mr Osbournes home, its intimidating, insulting, and the families very presence in the neighbourhood where they burgled Mr Osbourne and others is highly inappropriate and disrespectful, but low life like that would not care one jot. Poor man, having this over him, the last few years of his life.

NameChangeAgainAndAgain · 11/04/2018 13:23

I haven't read full thread (sorry). U also don't know the ins and outs or whether it was meant to intimidate - if it was that was sad.

However, whatever the ins and outs, a man has lost his life. The family have a right to grieve and feel sad. This will b a very hard time for them. Obviously I feel for the old gentleman that stabbed the victim. He us likely to b going through hell. But it doesn't take away the fact that a young man has died and his family will be in bits. They probably, understandably to them, feel very angry with the person that stabbed their son, as most people would.

I wonder what the reaction would be if the stabbing was by a young black man in hackney.

NameChangeAgainAndAgain · 11/04/2018 13:24
  • I don't know the ins and outs (not 'U' - sorry)
CandleWithHair · 11/04/2018 13:24

Given the police have now explicitly said that they need a complaint from the fence owner to do anything, I am wondering why on Earth they haven’t done this? I’m sure I read an earlier report where the fence owner said they weren’t happy about it.

Mydoghatesthebath · 11/04/2018 13:28

name he was 37 so not that young and he knew exactly what he was doing.

My sons don’t go round burglaring and terrorising elderly people and if they did and died in these circumstances my shame would be as strong as my grief.

I have no idea about your last sentence a young black man in hackney it makes no sense snd has no bearing in this case.

Mydoghatesthebath · 11/04/2018 13:29

The fence owner will be terrified I expect

Alpineflowers · 11/04/2018 13:29

Springiscoming123

Yes, it's confusing.
One of the family members said to the press that, to paraphrase, 'we are Gypsies, this is racism' but I would disagree with that. I don't think it is about 'race'. People are just sick and tired of lawlessness, and especially violent crime, in general.
As I said earlier in the thread, the placing of the flowers is intimidation

TSSDNCOP · 11/04/2018 13:32

The family have a right to grieve and feel sad. This will b a very hard time for them.

And that’s why they will have a funeral and a proper place to take their grief.

GorgeousJaws · 11/04/2018 13:32

I'd direct my anger toward my son for terrorising old people and ultimately being stabbed by one of them because he entered their home uninvited, actually.

TSSDNCOP · 11/04/2018 13:34

The fence owner must be absolutely shitting himself. The whole ridiculous situation now hinges on him saying he doesn’t want the flowers on his fence.

Everyone involved knows who he is and where he lives. I’d be calling an estate agent not the bloody rozzers.
