To find floral tributes being left for Harry Vincent offensive

This is an attempt to intimidate the innocent family. Flowers should be removed - isn’t it littering?

I suspect it’s not true at all. Cowardice and bravery don’t make good bed fellows.

People like this are very treacherous and mean and arnt the types to ‘lay down their lives for their friends’ that requires humanity and empathy and decency and courage.

None of those qualities involved robbing OAPs

Springiscoming123 · 10/04/2018 23:12

think the flowers have been taken down agin

Brendaofbeechhouse · 10/04/2018 23:17

You are glad someone is dead? He may have been a very unpleasant man, who behaved in a vile way towards vulnerable people, and deserved a long provision sentence.

But to be glad he is dead? I am not mourning him, but he has children who loved him - even if he may not have been particularly deserving of his love - who will be suffering now.

maxthemartian · 10/04/2018 23:18

Given what he was like, it's possible that his death is the best thing that ever happened to those children. But then again it doesn't sound like the rest of the relatives are much better.

Springiscoming123 · 10/04/2018 23:26

he had spent time in prison, was a class A drug user, and a violent criminal robbing the most vunerable

i dont think he added much to his childrens lifes

99.9% of parents want to be a positive role model and parent accordingly he does not seem either of them, but im sure he will be seen as a martyr in his community and his children will be told and think he was wonderful

BMW6 · 10/04/2018 23:40

It strikes me that the relatives of the burglar, who are allegedly threatening vengeance on the victims of his crime, ought to be careful with their public threats.

They know where the victim lived, but it is also known where they (the relatives mouthing off) live.

There are any number of seriously violent and ruthless people who would be increasingly pissed off with this and I would not be remotely surprised if some reprisals were made. Travellers are not liked outside the traveller community.

I am in no way condoning or excusing any violence. Just musing that with social media being what it is, and people being what they are, this could end in further violence and potential death. Of the traveller community.

Mydoghatesthebath · 10/04/2018 23:42

Brenda

Nope any man who thinks it’s ok to hold an elderly man and his disabled wife hostage won’t be also a loving dad or partner.

The two don’t go together. The children are probably deeply upset but unfortunately in the grip of an extremely dreadful family with zero role models. I really do pity them

Alpineflowers · 10/04/2018 23:43

AuntMabel - 'The media reports aren't helping, they should stop giving them a platform for this.'

I have to disagree with you there AuntMabel
I have no strong feelings about the Daily Mail one way or the other but the reporting of this is symbolic. People can relate to it. The tit for tat putting up and taking down of the flowers is a symbolic street issue that a lot of people can relate to and that issue is serious violent crime. The muggings, the knife gangs, the acid attacks, the Grooming Gangs. Millions of people see this going on in their own neighbourhoods and they want to discuss it. They want the rest of the country to recognise it. They want to see action. They want to see, in the media at least, that these issues are being presented to the general public. Some folks might dismiss headlines like 'Blooming Madness:' or 'Farce of the Flowers' as being sensationalist and they probably are, but people are watching because it means something to them. The police on horseback means something. What happens in the street means something. They wonder what will the outcome be, because it could have been happening on their street. People want 'justice to be seen to be done'

MagneticMan · 10/04/2018 23:48

That occurred to me too @BMW6. I hope it doesn't come to that; there will be innocent children on that site.

Unfortunately this has caused a lot of anger towards travellers and I can well imagine someone might try and take the law into their own hands. Understandable in some ways if people think the Police aren't taking enough action, especially with regards to the alleged threats from the family.

A bit of weedkiller on those flowers would do the job tbh.

SaltireSaltire · 10/04/2018 23:53

magnetic the flowers are already dead - cut off from their roots and with no water. That’s what makes these floral tributes so grim -in a day or so, shrivelled up weather beaten stems. What a grim way to be remembered.

Trumpdump · 11/04/2018 00:00

@Springiscoming123

Where did you read that?

Springiscoming123 · 11/04/2018 00:04

Trumpdump · 11/04/2018 00:07

People are glad he is dead because he would have had more victims in the future, he was pure scum who targeted vulnerable people. He not only burgled houses but also conned elderly people out of thousands for work that was only worth £50 at best and nothing at worst. One women even signed her house over to pay the debt.
If it was a choice between him being dead or him being caught by the police, doing a few years in prison then coming out and finding more victims (which had happened in the past more then once) yes I am glad he is dead.

My only sorrow about his death is for the elderly man who will be feeling guilty over the death of this scumbag and the fact they have had to go into hiding due to Vincent’s family and friends being total scum as well

DownWithThatSortofTing · 11/04/2018 00:42

There is something wrong with you if you are glad anyone is stabbed to death.

WellThisIsShit · 11/04/2018 00:47

It’s an odd thing when the dead immediately get crowned as saints by don’t of achieving err, deadness.

The man was vile.

Flowers are to commemorate when placed in a specific location. As this location is significantly not where he died, but where his last act of savagery took place, we can only assume it’s that which these people wish to commemorate. Whilst calling him a saint.

On a separate note, yay, Vicar is back :) ignore the dramatics and bizarre scene stealing which was going on, most odd.

DownWithThatSortofTing · 11/04/2018 00:49

It’s an odd thing when the dead immediately get crowned as saints by don’t of achieving err, deadness

they haven't though, so thats a really stupid comment.

Alpineflowers · 11/04/2018 00:54

Mydoghatesthebath

Those police horses in the Daily Mail article look fabulous, so healthy and well cared for ...

Thegreatestshowwomen · 11/04/2018 00:59

I said the following
If it was a choice between him being dead or him being caught by the police, doing a few years in prison then coming out and finding more victims (which had happened in the past more then once) yes I am glad he is dead
He would have found more victims in the future and I wonder how many of those he had already robbed have had their lives shorted by the stress of being conned out of money or being burgled
Or would you rather he was still alive and gone onto ruining the lives of more
elderly people. It’s not like he would have stopped

Jamiefraserskilt · 11/04/2018 01:01

Um....that metro report contained threats to life. This is a criminal offence. Surely the paper should reveal his details to the police?
Hopefully by the the time they get back, this will be gone. The buggers put it all back again after it being taken down.

Earthmover · 11/04/2018 01:04

I'd prefer him dead than still roaming the streets inflicting misery on innocent OAPs.

Struggling to change that preference, irrespective of the perception that it means there's something wrong with me.

Thegreatestshowwomen · 11/04/2018 01:07

Sorry posted too soon
My great grandma was burgled and woke up while it was happening, she came face to face with the man who luckily just ran off. She was left a shadow of her former self and it was heartbreaking to see. She spend the rest of her life in fear and gave up her home as she did not feel safe.

The scum who did this ruined the rest of her life so don’t expect me to have any sympathy for this scumbag. He was caught and had a record of targeting elderly and disabled people, he was realised from prison and did it again.
So yes I would rather the man who burgled my great grandma had been killed
before he had an opportunity to burgle again rather then reducing a lovely old women into a wreck. If that means there is something wrong with me then fine

GnotherGnu · 11/04/2018 01:12

People get confused at this though as no one has suggested they be discriminated against, just they shouldn't behave how these relatives are by intimidating local residents

Try reading MNHQ's comment if you read nothing else, Janey. The problem throughout this thread is that people have thought it appropriate to make wildly generalised comments about the supposed sins of the entire traveller community based on the actions of a very few. It's the epitome of racial discrimination, and I really cannot understand how people think it's acceptable to express those views against travellers when they wouldn't, I hope, dream of expressing similar views about, say, Jews or black people.

I have 'RTFT', haven't seen the comments 'they are all scumbags' and 'there is a reason everyone hates them'. Did you report them?

Think about it, Janey. See all those deletions up there? Could they possibly be the racist comments others are talking about? Might that be the reason you haven't seen them?
