To be massively pissed off with the Airbnb host?

blueduvetface · 09/04/2018 21:45

We rented an Airbnb for a week somewhere nice and warm.

The description of the place banged on about how private it is and how she'd never come round and it not overlooked by anything.

The owners manual says 'please put bins out on Saturday'. That's it.

So aibu in thinking she should have fucking well mentioned the pool guys coming on a Monday?

Dh had taken ds off shopping so I was have a lovely relax on my own (for the first time since I got here) and removing some unruly minge hairs on the sun deck. I hear a chuckling and look up and there's one horrified looking pool guy and one horrified yet amused looking pool guy staring at me. Angry

I'm fucking mortified. I hadn't heard them turn up so have no bloody idea how long they'd been there. I was wearing a sundress but no underwear and I'm hoping to God they didn't see too much.

Now I'm hiding inside on the last day of my bloody holiday hoping they bugger off quickly. AngryAngryAngryAngryAngry

"I don't think my husband or son would blink an eye to be honest."

Your husband OK, but your son? He really would be OK with seeing you legs akimbo plucking your pubic hair?

nursy1 · 09/04/2018 22:57

surely you can see the difference between head and pubic hair

Nicknacky: No I can’t see the difference. Is it me?? Are your genitals excessively dirty?
If somebody was plucking their pubes round mine I’d far rather it was in the garden than in my bathroom.

nursy1 · 09/04/2018 22:59

When my mobile hairdresser comes round, if it’s sunny, we sit outside whilst she cuts. Far easier with the clean up. My Mum always emptied the hairbrushes into the garden. She used to tell us “ it’s nice for the birds to build their nests”

easterwasbadformywaist · 09/04/2018 23:01

A pubic hair bird nest 😂😂

Op they should have let you know someone was coming. You could have been sunbathing naked. I'm surprised they managed to get in the garden and start work without saying anything? Surely a 'hi we're the pool guys' would've been polite.

TammySwansonTwo · 09/04/2018 23:02

Magnetic i thought you meant check the small print in case it’s prohibits poolside patio pube plucking Grin

easterwasbadformywaist · 09/04/2018 23:02

Sorry, I mean without making noise and alerting you.

LolaTheDarkdestroyer · 09/04/2018 23:03

Oh dear op you were trying to be funny...and it fucked up. Get one of those veet shaver things they're good for rogues.

sheworebluevelet · 09/04/2018 23:05

The idea is grim but actually as an Asian my entire body is hair. I brush my hair outside, I pluck eyebrows outside, I've pulled the odd Inipple hair out in panic. Pubic hair isn't actually inside anything...it's no grimmer than hair anywhere else.

Curiousaboutchoices · 09/04/2018 23:05

Gosh we’re a bit uptight tonight aren’t we?! It’s hair, just hair. And very very funny.

Op, thank you for cheering me up, I too pluck out the odd stray hair that the wax /laser burn has missed and it is a truly satisfying experience. I imagine that natural light is brilliant for spotting the little suckers too. I think the pool boys will have seen worse so don’t give it another thought. Plus can you dine out on this story for years. Have a lovely holiday.

Blit · 09/04/2018 23:05

Fur coat and no knickers, yes.

Sundress and no knickers, no.

Nicknacky · 09/04/2018 23:06

nursy1 Bit strange to ask someone how dirty their genitals are, but I would assume mine are as clean as the next woman.

InsomniacAnonymous · 09/04/2018 23:06

I don't think it's reasonable to be "massively pissed off with the Airbnb host" for not forseeing that you might be plucking your pubic hairs by the pool. Most people would do that in a bathroom.

UnicornRainbowColours · 09/04/2018 23:06

Oh wow that’s seriously grim 🤮🤢

BadAsMe · 09/04/2018 23:06

Top tip: get an epilator.

MrsCatE · 09/04/2018 23:08

OP was trying to make a point re agreed privacy. OP, hope you enjoyed it, because probably last time you will dare to air lady garden without being scared of MN censure!

Blit · 09/04/2018 23:08

Curious , not really a story to dine out on.

JessicaJonesJacket · 09/04/2018 23:10

I'm wondering why you were bothering on the last day of your holiday. Surely most people tidy up before they go on a pool holiday rather than at the end of it.
Anyway, no matter what an AirBnB host puts in their paperwork, maintenance schedules can change; children's frisbees can come over walls; tourists can get lost and wander in. Unless you want an audience and a story for MN, it's probably best to pluck your pubes in private.

nursy1 · 09/04/2018 23:11

nicknacky
Then your pubes will be no worse than hair from anywhere else.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 09/04/2018 23:14

Serves you right OP for violating someone’s property 🤮

And yes, people do shave down there with razors. I do; no itchiness, no ingrown hairs, no problems. And I do it in the fucking bathroom.

starsandstuff · 09/04/2018 23:15

Wtf do people think pubes are made of?? If she was trimming her split ends would you be clutching your sick bags so tightly? Sake.

I'm going to a private rental on hols and I've booked it specifically not to be overlooked (not to pluck my pubes but only cos I rarely can be arsed doing anything with those). I fully intend to be naked as much as possible and if a random workman turned up as I was burning my lumpy bits I'd be livid. Livid!

Definitely mention it in the review and drop an email to the owner to say it would be a good thing to say to guests.

BlondeB83 · 09/04/2018 23:15

Use the bathroom next time! YABU!! Eww!

himalayansalt · 09/04/2018 23:16

"Very very funny"? Are you sure about that?

moofolk · 09/04/2018 23:16

Love you OP! Can see why you're mortified, minge maintenance isn't really supposed to be a spectator sport.

Hosts definitely should have told you about the pool guys.

I've had a giggle though thanks!

PinkAvocado · 09/04/2018 23:17

They should have mentioned it.

If the pool guys mention it to the owners, they may leave a less than positive review on you but whether that’s fair or not, I’m undecided!

hibbledibble · 09/04/2018 23:19

I can't unread that. It's truly revolting. And yes yabu. That isn't something to be doing outside, anywhere.
