Husband must be too handsome for words

Perhaps that's an exaggeration, but even so.

DH did a visit today (out of office), and didn't update his boss that he had finished.

His boss just texted to ask if he was okay and got home safe.

DH said he did and went to go into detail about how things went (work related), and boss wasn't interested. Just wanted to make sure he got home okay and to have a lovely evening Shock

Is this standard practise?

I don’t see how this is in anyway a problem.

I’m field based and every so often our boss will text us to say have a nice evening, and every Friday without fail they do,

ChickensGoBoak · 03/04/2018 20:20

Yep. If I've been out of office my manager checks in to make sure I got home/to the hotel safely. Did the same when I left work early in the snow too.

Sure he's handsome too though Wink

AfterMyFella · 03/04/2018 20:20

I see...

Perhaps it's just me. I'm a PA and the only bosses to ever text me like that always wanted some of my candy BlushGrin

Maybe she was just making the point that he failed to follow the lone working policy?
I’m sure it’s his gorgeousness really though 😂

EeeSheWasThin · 03/04/2018 20:20

Yes, we have a policy that if you’re doing an out of office visit alone, you report “safe return”.

AfterMyFella · 03/04/2018 20:22

Eee That isn't in the policy, according to my DH.

DH is very Hmm that I'm even questioning his boss's motives here

OccasionalNachos · 03/04/2018 20:22

Yeah, pretty standard if someone’s been out alone on a site visit, or working early or late.

I possibly pay more attention to the texts if they’re handsome employees though Grin

Coulddowithanap · 03/04/2018 20:25

We have working alone policy too, have to contact the office to say we have finished. If we haven't contacted the office and it's after a certain amount of time when we should have been home by then our manager will call us to check we got home ok.

AfterMyFella · 03/04/2018 20:25

Chinny Boss is a He Grin

I'm rather flattered by his regular loveliness, seems he couldn't do enough for my husband and the other man he is Manager to.

I'm desperate to meet him, feeling sad I probably won't Envy

eeeSheWasThin Yes, we have a policy that if you’re doing an out of office visit alone, you report “safe return”.
My work is the same. If I was ever to forget to call into the office it would be standard for my manager to call or text to check I was ok.

MaryPoppinsStoleMyHandbag · 03/04/2018 20:26

Pretty standard, even if your DH is ugly.

Why are you questioning his bosses motives? It seems very uptight and paranoid if it’s just based on this one text and there’s no massive back story.

Mydoghatesthebath · 03/04/2018 20:28

Does wanted your candy mean sweets or other? Wink

NC4Now · 03/04/2018 20:28

Yep, your DH is a hottie.

Nowt to do with his boss being responsible about his welfare 😂

AfterMyFella · 03/04/2018 20:29

Mydog the most indulgent kind there is Grin

NC His boss does seem to have a soft spot for him, no idea why. Maybe DH reminds him of his younger self?

OP posts:
TheDinosaurRoars · 03/04/2018 20:30

Yes it is standard at my company as they have a duty of care to ensure safety of employees.

paniconthestreetsofdreams · 03/04/2018 20:31

I can't think of a thread I've ever read where somebody has read so much into such a small thing.

VladmirsPoutine · 03/04/2018 20:38

These sorts of threads always makes me cringe.

EastMidsMummy · 03/04/2018 20:42

WTF is the problem? Boss wants to know his employee’s day was OK? What a cunt.

PigletJohn · 03/04/2018 20:44

perhaps Boss keeps an eye on staff who claim to be "off site meeting" but have in fact gone home early.

One of my chaps once said he was "on a course" one Friday.

He was playing golf.

Olicity17 · 03/04/2018 20:46

So whats your issue with this?

PuppyMonkey · 03/04/2018 20:46

Not really getting this thread, is it supposed to be funny? Confused

Mydoghatesthebath · 03/04/2018 20:47

Grin we need a photo of this god!

Passthecake30 · 03/04/2018 20:48

I agree with pigletjohn, boss is checking that he did actually work and not skive off. Though not sure how the text helps tbh!

UnaMagdalena · 03/04/2018 20:48

I think she was making a point that he should check in with the boss.......

MrsMaxwell · 03/04/2018 20:48

Pretty standard where I work we have to buddy up as per our lone working policy.
