To say how gobsmacked I am by what a friend told me

Yesterday I met with a newish friend and not sure how but we got onto the subject of how she met her husband.

Apparently she was fairly newly divorced and decided to check out the lonely hearts column in the local paper. She marked three as possibly of interest and tried telephoning them. Only one of the three answered the phone and after a chat they decided to meet at her house (I know, HUGE no no) on the Thursday and she would cook dinner.

The date went so well that from meeting on the Thursday he had moved in by the Sunday and they were married less than two months later.

They celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary earlier this year.

I've never heard anything like it, have you? And has it lasted the course of time?

I'm sorry but I don't get all this rushing in stuff.

When I met DH I knew I really liked him and wanted to be with him but if he'd proposed after a week I would have said no and thought he was completely bonkers.

I moved for work for 6 months, and I’m still here nearly 3 decades later. I may have been distracted by, now DH.

My mum was engaged to my dad’s brother. She’d never met my dad because he had left home and been away travelling. When he returned he was introduced to my mum and less than a month later they had eloped and secretly married. They have now been happily married for 48 years

Me and DH decided to get married after 3 weeks , he had already moved in with me. We married a year to the day and have just celebrated our 23rd anniversary.
