Just curiosity really about different areas wages and bills etc.

Would you share;

  1. what part of the uk your in.
  2. what type job you do (just if it's low level, management etc)
  3. your wage
  4. your rent / mortgage
  5. what size your house is.

I'm in Yorkshire,
I am in a semi skilled job and earn a 22k salary if I work full time hours (39 hours a week)
We rent a 2 bed terraced house for £390 a month!

I've seen loads of people saying they spent 1k or over a month on rent in various parts of the country and I've been absolutely gobsmacked! That's almost my entire wage!

People really should be careful about what information they give out on a public forum.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 01/04/2018 11:27

Live in south east. I earn a pittance (term time only admin work) but family income is around £65k. Mortgage is paid off on our four bedroom terraced house but a three bed terrace in our street is rented out (friend owns it) for £1650 pcm which is pretty standard around here.

Personally I think house prices are ridiculous, we wouldn’t be able to get a mortgage for the value of our house even with our quite high income!

FellOutOfBed2wice · 01/04/2018 11:28

Generally wanted to have a rant about rentals everywhere but especially in London The house we rented before we brought here was a 3/4 bed end of terrace (the /4 bed was a crawl space but that’s how it was advertised 😆) it was old and quite charming but single glazed and in need to renovation (the kitchen in particular) and the garden was shared. We paid £925 a month for it but our arms were forced when the previously reasonable landlord started raising the rent every few months. By the end of 2016 it has gone up to £1,100 a month with nothing at all done in the house (literally not so much as a lick of paint) to justify a £175 rise in less than a year.

By the end the rent was 80quid a month less my part time middle manager wage!!!! It’s terrible. And all the more terrible hearing there are places in the country where you can rent a family home for £400.

FellOutOfBed2wice · 01/04/2018 11:30

Oh and I meant to add when we moved he painted it a bit, got his mate to fit an IKEA kitchen and put it up for £1600 a month. And it was snapped up!!! £1600 a month with single glazed windows and one bathroom. Beggars belief. 😡

South Wales, combined income of around 31,000. Mortgage is £319 but we have a lot (by our standards anyway and it's around a third to a half of the value of the house) of negative equity.

It never ceases to amaze me that people could be naive enough to ask or answer this sort of question.

Come on!!! Anyone could search this thread now or in the future and use these details.

People could be anyone online. A point which makes the original OP even more pointless!

EphraimLevi · 01/04/2018 12:05

Use the details for what, though?

EphraimLevi · 01/04/2018 12:05

None of this is secret info.

Hmm

Oh dear...someone knows that I earn £27k working in a bank and have a 2 bed house in S Wales worth £95k.

What's the problem exactly? Quite frankly I couldn't care less what those details are 'used' for!

Wingbing · 01/04/2018 12:18

There has been lots of threads on MN like this over the years.

First time I've noticed posters worry about the data on offer.

What could it be used for?

I don't understand the point of this thread. If someone live in Nottingham, earns £70k, mortgage is whatever - what is the relevance of this info to the OP - or anyone?

turnipfarmers · 01/04/2018 12:28

On it's own not much but if you search what other people have posted then you can work out quite a lot about them if they are careless in the other posts.
