Has it been confirmed that he was over the limit then? I know he failed the breathalyser but that doesn’t mean he was d&d. My DM crashed her car last year and failed the roadside breathalyser, not because she’d been drinking (she hadn’t) but because she had a panic attack and couldn’t hold her breath long enough to take the test, so it was an automatic fail.

He’s been charged with drink driving not failing to provide.

LucilleBluth · 01/04/2018 20:43

JaneyEJones, you honestly can't see the difference in those photos. I think they speak volumes.

Were they due to host Britain's got talent? It starts in a few weeks.... or am I thinking if X factor?

RoseWhiteTips · 01/04/2018 20:52

The photos are like those ridiculous before and after shots. One was taken in miserable conditions; the other in sunny climes.
Same person. He is allowed to change his facial expressions.

The photos do not speak a volume, far less volumes.

Yep I can as one shows a drunken little knob in winter and the other shows a spray tanned drunken little knob on its hols.

Sugarhunnyicedtea · 01/04/2018 22:11

I wasn't there when he crashed so, like the majority of people I've only seem what has been in the press. He was over the legal drink drive limit, this does not mean he was drunk. Even the police will agree there is a marked difference. I have also seen no evidence that he was responsible for the crash. It is entirely possible that he was involved in a crash for which he was not responsible and then failed a breathalyser.
I don't and will not condone drink driving but will save judgement for when (and if) the facts are known, not just media speculation.
I love Ant & Dec and feel sorry for both of them.

frasersmummy · 01/04/2018 22:49

sugarhunnyicedtea it doesnt matter if he was drunk, he failed the breathalyser and then had blood tests which proved he was unfit to be driving that makes it illegal and makes him a danger on the road.

For years and years now the police have been running campaigns about the dangers of drinking and driving. They must be gnashing their teeth as so many people condoning it..undermining their years of education

I have zero sympathy for him ..

Sugarhunnyicedtea · 01/04/2018 22:55

I don't see anyone condoning drink driving.

Follyfoot · 01/04/2018 23:00

I have sympathy for addicts, it must be awful to be in the grip of an addiction.

Bugger all sympathy for anyone who drinks and drives. It was a choice he made. It was only luck that it didnt end differently. It did for a friend of mine who has recently lost his son as a result. And someone I work with whose daughter was killed a couple of years ago. And for a patient I looked after 30 years ago (who still sticks in the mind), who was lucky not to be killed but unfortunately the rest of his family werent so lucky. Another Sunday afternoon drunk driver wiped them out.

lunar1 · 01/04/2018 23:03

Come to work with me for a day, you'll soon change your mind and lose sympathy when you see the truly devastating price of drink driving.

I do think there is more blame to go around than just him though, too many people with an interest in keeping him working.

RunMummyRun68 · 01/04/2018 23:11

Why though? They have had their day really.... lots of new talent out there who could do a good job of presenting.

They've been done to death

Panda81 · 01/04/2018 23:16

they have had their day really

I think the 8 million people who watch Saturday night takeaway would disagree with you

Graphista · 01/04/2018 23:44

"No one was injured" "the little girl is fine"

1 the little girls mum WAS injured
2 the little girl may be physically fine but I'm sure all those he hit got a hell of a fright and could well be experiencing anxiety, fear even PTSD as a result

Also I think it was two cars he hit.

That nobody was seriously hurt or killed (inc his own mother!) was sheer luck!

NO it was not "a mistake" it was a really shitty CHOICE he made and not even out of necessity he has more than enough money for drivers, taxis hell even chauffeur driven limos!

Not only was he drunk from the accounts I've read he was speeding quite seriously and on the wrong side of the road. - sugarhunny what have you read? Because the accounts I've read were reported in almost all msm and a lot of online media. Inc fairly detailed reports of him being "all over the road".

Also it seems it wasn't the first time he's done it either, I think last tin he hit a tree?

I've seen 3 people permanently seriously disabled by drunk drivers and one lost her baby she was 8.5 months pregnant with - Drs confirmed baby WAS killed as a direct result of the accident.

So no - no sympathy whatsoever.

ALL drink drivers should permanently lose their licences - they are a privilege NOT a right.

"Pet theory: those who are more forgiving of drink driving - as in the 'humans are fallible, we all make mistakes' are more forgiving because they can see it being the sort of mistake that they might make themselves." I agree - wouldn't be surprised if they have driven drunk.

I have never driven within 24 hours of my last alcoholic drink never would, it's not hard.

"A lot of posters on this thread should be damn grateful that they’ve never reached the low point that I suspect Ant has recently." You have NO IDEA what people have been through how arrogant! In addition plenty of people will have actually been even LOWER because they don't have the money, resources and support network he has. Despicable thing to say! There are victims of DD, DV, child abuse, rape and all sorts on mn AND addiction too.

Op - his career has NOTHING to do with his actions, but it's hardly like he's some hero is it? He's a mediocre tv presenter. He's not curing cancer or getting people out of burning buildings!

Chocamocca179 · 02/04/2018 21:52

I echo every thing Graphista said.

Sugarhunnyicedtea · 02/04/2018 22:13

Graphista I've only read one eyewitness account that says he was speeding and on the wrong side of the road. That was the chef who was in the green mini.
I've seen several statements from people who use that road regularly who say the bend is made difficult by cars parked on it - he was, apparently, overtaking a parked car and the pictures seem to confirm that.
He may have been speeding, I'm pretty sure we all break the speed limit at times. As I have said, I don't and won't condone drink driving but I still don't know the facts, just the same story that started off in a tabloid and has been rehashed everywhere else.
He deserves to be treated the same way as anybody else would be if they committed the same crime, whether that be dangerous driving, drink driving, drug driving or something else.

Andrewofgg · 03/04/2018 21:10

The case has been put off to 16 April.

LucilleBluth · 04/04/2018 16:00

I wonder why it's been postponed. Can his legal team request it or is it the courts decision.

OP posts:
Andrewofgg · 04/04/2018 17:00

It could be either and there is no way of telling.
