I don't care....I love them....and I really hope Ant comes back. There I said it.

I love them too! Can’t wait to see them back on tv together, my heart was in my mouth watching little Dec on his own tonight. He did brilliantly!

I think I’m a Celeb is the second best thing on the telly (Strictly is 1st) and it could never be the same without the both of them.

Ant could now give all of his wealth to charity and save dozens of lives, qualify as a doctor and save many more and it still wouldn’t be enough for some of the posters on here. I’m glad I don’t know them in real life.

GColdtimer · 01/04/2018 00:44

Ok so next time someone posts on here that their work colleague/partner/friend drive whilst drunk you lot will be living and caring and supportive will you?

Or does that only apply if they are national treasures.

ItsAllABitStrangeReally · 01/04/2018 00:44

I know he went to rehab, was stalked when he left. Fucked up massively and needs punishing for that, if that involves jail then so be it.

And now he's back in rehab........and no doubt will be under siege the second he leaves. If I was him if rent a field and pitch a tent for a few months to sort my head out. I really do feel there should be laws in place restricting the press from hounding people who are ill or undergoing treatment. It's a disgusting way to behave.

LucilleBluth · 01/04/2018 00:46

He's in court this week, I really hope he arrives looking healthy and the press back off a bit.

I don't condone the drink driving but that doesn't mean I don't ever want to see Ant on tv again. He needs to recover and take his punishment, whatever it may be, and hopefully at some point in the future we will see him on our screens again.

Sparklingbrook · 01/04/2018 00:51

I don't think whatever punishment he gets will ever be enough for some.
Whenever he gets a mention forever more so will the drink driving. Over and over again.

Fair play to dec tonight he did good.
I said to oh "aww I miss ant" he said "yeah shame he had to drink drive and out a little girl in hospital" and it's true no point papering over the fact that he has been a dick and drink driving is low.
Op this is an attention seeking post and you wouldn't be coming out with this bullshit if it had been a member of your family or friend he had done it to.

LolaTheDarkdestroyer · 01/04/2018 01:05

oh said not he said*

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/04/2018 01:07

"He made a mistake. There for the grace of God and all that."

No he didn't make a mistake. A mistake is when you accidentally and uintentionally leave a tap on causing a flood. He chose to get behind the wheel under the influence.
It's only by the grace of God that that poor family were not killed.
Would you have the same thoughts if this were a celebrity you didnt like or is this a case of one rule for one and one for another.

AngeloMysterioso · 01/04/2018 01:14

Has it been confirmed that he was over the limit then? I know he failed the breathalyser but that doesn’t mean he was d&d. My DM crashed her car last year and failed the roadside breathalyser, not because she’d been drinking (she hadn’t) but because she had a panic attack and couldn’t hold her breath long enough to take the test, so it was an automatic fail.

Sparklingbrook · 01/04/2018 01:16

He is in court this week. There will be more than one thread on MN debating the outcome no doubt.

ObiJuanKenobi · 01/04/2018 01:25

I can't sympathise with him at all. All that money for drivers, taxis, chauffeurs and he made the decision to DD Hmm

GinIsIn · 01/04/2018 01:41

I can’t bekieve people are saying the.child wasn’t hurt after all like that makes it ok. He could have hurt her. He could have killed her. He got lucky. He did NOT make a mistake, he chose to drink then chose to get behind the wheel of a car.

blaaake · 01/04/2018 02:02

I mean, if I was to get in my car right now after I've had 4 glasses of wine tonight and managed to put a child in hospital, at least I could rest easy knowing I had a random bird on mumsnet rooting for me telling people that everyone makes mistakes and that it's not my fault Hmm

nocoolnamesleft · 01/04/2018 02:07

Drink driving is not a mistake. It is a dangerous and stupid crime. One that kills many innocent people.

madfootyfan22 · 01/04/2018 02:34

You can take your darling Ant and shove him. My cousin was killed by a drunk driver and her friend put in a wheelchair and he only got 12 months in jail, a fine and a pathetic driving ban.
Like to see you say everyone makes mistakes oh my darling Ant if a drunk driver had killed someone you loved

nokidshere · 01/04/2018 02:38

There is no excuse or justification for drunk driving but all this (not on here just in general) hysteria is a bit ridiculous. There are 85000 cases of drink driving a year in this country, thankfully few of them resulting in serious harm, and we don’t hear a thing about them until the annual Christmas drive or unless someone gets killed or injured.

There is no “might have” when it comes to dealing with drink driving. He was over the limit, no-one was injured, and he should be treated the same as all the others - a fine, maybe a ban and points on his licence. Just because he is a celeb does not mean he should be treated any differently from anyone else in the same position.

We should be campaigning for ALL drivers to be alcohol free when at the wheel, not making Ant a scapegoat for them all. Justice cannot be personalised. By all means make the sentences harsher but they have to apply to everyone.

BitchQueen90 · 01/04/2018 06:27

I agree he did a very silly selfish thing and he should have to suffer some sort of consequence. I hope this incident is what shocks him into reality.

I have sympathy for him though as I do any other addict. And yes I would say the same about the average person on the street, I have worked with the homeless for many years, people who have done worse things than what Ant did. Addiction is horrific.

HeyMolly · 01/04/2018 06:34

Wayne Rooney was nigh on lynched on here for drink driving

Ant.......everyone hopes he’s ok and gets the help he needs.

flippyfloppyflower · 01/04/2018 06:39

He made a mistake, there but for the grace of god and all that sorry you are wrong. None of my mistakes would involve drink driving, Responsible adults do not drink and drive. Everyone supporting him is supporting drivers who drink. And for the folk saying the little girl wasn't physically injured - what? It doesn't matter if you drink and drive as long as you don't actually kill someone, God give me strength

Panda81 · 01/04/2018 07:25

Did Wayne Rooney keep his job? What sentence did he get?

I think the media focussed more on the OW than the DD in Wayne Rooney's case!

Raven88 · 01/04/2018 07:29

I have no sympathy for anyone who gets in a car under the influence. He could of killed someone.

insancerre · 01/04/2018 07:30

I've always found Ant and Dec to be quite annoying and I don't watch anything that they present
I don't like the cheeky northern act

mogulfield · 01/04/2018 07:32

Dec did a great job last night, I really enjoyed it and found it quite emotional! I hope Ant gets the help he needs he’s clearly in a dark place. Hoping he gets the help he needs doesn’t condone drink/driving, I deplore it. But compassion for a fellow human and disgust don’t need to be mutually exclusive.
There have been so many high profile suicides recently it would be a shame to see him take that path Sad
