The thread continues....if it hasn't continued elsewhere! @Lateforall it was me who questioned Lobella loves depression wears lippy campaign. I get that the idea is that being a bit glam might be a way of coping. And i have been guilty of putting my face on to carry on in the world. I get that not everyone with pnd is sat at home in pjs unshowered with greasy hair. But I just find the whole thing so false on her account - maybe that is because I know of her in real life.

But I think so many of them have massivley over exaggerated aspects of their lives because it sells. Whether that is FODs clumsy parenting or whatever. But it really doesnt sit well

Not according to sophielemon. According to Sophie and Cady its a downright insult!

Mumofkids · 02/04/2018 22:00

@areyouinthegame as is breathing! Or maybe typing.

Areyouinthegame · 02/04/2018 22:00

And so what if there's a disapproving tone? Your tone is disapproving too.

Areyouinthegame · 02/04/2018 22:01

Lol @mumofkids

Sofialemon · 02/04/2018 22:04

@Areyouinthegame
Why can I not be critical about dlam in saying that she hasn't been good value for money in regards to Ariel? What's wrong with saying that?

Where did I say you couldn't be critical? I said it was irrelevant if she has low engagement, meaning it's irrelevant to DLAM. I doubt she'll be too bothered, she'll still receive her fee.

Mumofkids · 02/04/2018 22:06

@areyouinthegame re:disapproving tone I just actually think there wasn't? Yes on some posts there's been blatant negativity and a bit of moaning, but regarding Martha I don't think anyone cares what she ads (I didn't like the very clothes but that's personal taste, is look dreadful in most of the clothes she wears, she's a stunning model and I am not) but regarding ads, she'd been putting things in her stories but not on her page so I've no idea why someone would get so worked up on her behalf. Maybe I missed something!

miamimice · 02/04/2018 22:07

I get the feeling only bloggers are allowed to comment on the influencing world because they are the only ones that understand it. Unless they are learning how this new world of influencing works, in which case we need to cut them some slack. Or something along those lines.

WipsGlitter · 02/04/2018 22:09

How do you find out what someone's engagement levels are?

Mumofkids · 02/04/2018 22:10

@sofialemon

@Areyouinthegame

It's irrelevant if it's good payback for Ariel.

No you didn't, you said if it was good payback for Ariel, not that DLAM wouldn't care as she got paid anyway.

miamimice · 02/04/2018 22:10

I'm surprised that bloggers aren't bothered about low engagement tbh.

Areyouinthegame · 02/04/2018 22:11

@wipsglitter dlam has a following of 101k yet only ever gets between 500 to 2k likes.

miamimice · 02/04/2018 22:13

It is basically the total number of likes and comments divided by the number of followers.

TheChocolateTeapot · 02/04/2018 22:15

Someone mentioned the frugality upthread and it resonated with me too. I hope she isn't having to do this just for the money - always really liked her and maybe a sign of just what a relentless treadmill these grammers are all on. Can't afford to disappear for a moment or the next bright thing will be along to take their place. When I look at MOFOD, it really is just moving from one monetised event to the next - I honestly can't imagine how stressful it must be - always having to put your family on stage to turn a penny. #whatpriceprivacy

Areyouinthegame · 02/04/2018 22:15

Oh sorry mumofkids in the disapproving comment I wasn't referring to you. I was answering Sophia lemon for a earlier comment.

Mumofkids · 02/04/2018 22:17

@areyouinthegame I got that, fast moving thread!

CadyHeron · 02/04/2018 22:19

When it comes to engagement, brands won't just look at how many likes they get, as that's not always the most important thing.
People can have loads of likes, loads of followers, but they could quite easily have either bought them or been fishing for likes.
The higher ones aren't always (although some are) the best engagement as half the time it might not be authentic and people aren't interested the rest of the time.
They'll take into account the smaller ones as they often have genuine engagement when they do get it. Authentic followers and people who are genuinely interested.

Areyouinthegame · 02/04/2018 22:20

"Continuous public exposure, though it may make you a 'personality',can diminish you as a person. To be a willing accomplice in the invasion of your privacy puts a low price on its worth.
Anne Petry

WipsGlitter · 02/04/2018 22:20

The Frugality is different though. This is her job; it's pretty much how she earns money so she can't afford (literally) to stop.

TheChocolateTeapot · 02/04/2018 22:21

So does the engagement rate explain why they all rush to comment on each other's post - boosting their stats?

Areyouinthegame · 02/04/2018 22:21

Own privacy*

Actually having looked DLAM's Ariel ad it is a great example of just how obvious the actual ads are. The content of that has blatantly been set out by Ariel, it obviously not only had to feature the product but a very specific image and text description re washing at 30.

These posts generally get way fewer likes and interaction than the general posts instgrammers feature as no one has any interest in the product if its the likes of washing detergent, breakfast cereal, and generally products we all tend to buy (or not) anyway.

I assume the bloggers agree to feature them as the financial gain is too much to say no to. It does no harm to them as long as it's not constant, if they do post too many then they'll no doubt loose followers but that's their choice*.

That was my post followed by @Areyouinthegame comment of
Yes hardly good payback for Ariel

I then said

It's irrelevant if it's good payback for Ariel.

Meaning it's irrelevant as DLAM had done what she has agreed to and will receive her fee. She can't really control the level of engagement.

TheChocolateTeapot · 02/04/2018 22:23

That is quite sad - it really is some great hamster wheel, always looking over your shoulder for the next great usp to come and steal your crown. Must breed huge insecurity.

WipsGlitter · 02/04/2018 22:24

If any of them think this is going to be sustainable as a way of earning a living for life then they're really deluded. #haysunshine

PavlovaPrincess · 02/04/2018 22:25

@TheChocolateTeapot possibly.

No one knows exactly how the IG algorithm works but there are numerous theories on how to get your post to the top of everyone's feed including comments, number of words in comments, amount of likes, and even how long other users spend just looking at your post.

TheChocolateTeapot · 02/04/2018 22:25

How on earth do you buy likes?
