The thread continues....if it hasn't continued elsewhere! @Lateforall it was me who questioned Lobella loves depression wears lippy campaign. I get that the idea is that being a bit glam might be a way of coping. And i have been guilty of putting my face on to carry on in the world. I get that not everyone with pnd is sat at home in pjs unshowered with greasy hair. But I just find the whole thing so false on her account - maybe that is because I know of her in real life.

But I think so many of them have massivley over exaggerated aspects of their lives because it sells. Whether that is FODs clumsy parenting or whatever. But it really doesnt sit well

If it's something you genuinely use, I'm not that bothered to be fair. Ariel would be useful. Not sure about an ap, kids are over exposed to devices enough and I don't use them to get my washing done. I wouldn't put a 2 yr old on a device. She'd destroy it anyway.

Mumofkids · 02/04/2018 20:25

You're not calm because I never said it was bad? Are you unable to process what's said?

PavlovaPrincess · 02/04/2018 20:26

@Sofialemon I don't read their blogs. It's not up to me to go searching for that information, it's up to them to make their followers aware and not make assumptions.

It's not difficult. If they want to run these things as businesses to maximise their profits, they should be professional about it.

We don't know the conversations that DLAM (for example) has had with Hill and Friends behind the scenes (which is kind of the point) but I very much doubt they keep sending her bags hoping that she might feature them on the off chance.

Mumofkids · 02/04/2018 20:28

Just feels like an aggressive onslaught. I've not critisized any of the ads people have chosen to do. Neither have many others. Someone suggested that a product DLSM advertised did not seem inline with her USP but aside from that it's that hidden ads causing the problems.
I have not said that Martha is bad for advertising Ariel and An App or Tesco school clothes or whatever else she's chosen to ad.

PavlovaPrincess · 02/04/2018 20:32

It was me that said Knorr and Ariel aren't in line with a fashion blog (and I accept I might be wrong about Ariel. Those clothes will need washing at some point), but that's my personal opinion and hardly a personal attack.

But I didn't criticise the ad or say she shouldn't have done it.

Is no one allowed to have an opinion anymore? Hmm

Mumofkids · 02/04/2018 20:37

@pavlovaprincess, sorry wasn't trying to pass it on, but I don't think anyone was piss taking and the comments appearing are inline with those on Instagram about mumsnetters.

PavlovaPrincess · 02/04/2018 20:43

@Mumofkids it's fine. It wasn't aimed at you.

CadyHeron · 02/04/2018 20:43

Very true sofia, if anything these threads just how influential fashion and parenting IGers are.
So many names getting dropped, and watched,and it must bring them so much more traffic,followers, and therefore more potential buys. Definitely capable of bringing in a lot of publicity so the brands will want a piece of that. Don't think anybody could deny that really.

Areyouinthegame · 02/04/2018 20:45

Well hooray for the influencers. Why not discuss a few more of them then?

Areyouinthegame · 02/04/2018 20:46

They are extremely influential. They have a lot of power and sway. That's why regulating them is so important.

CadyHeron · 02/04/2018 20:54

And nobody is disputing that, areyouinthegame.

Sofialemon · 02/04/2018 20:55

@PavlovaPrincess & @Mumofkids

I didn't state who said what just that I felt the tone of the posts was a bit nasty. Tbh I can't even remember if it was Martha or DLAM with the Ariel, maybe both.

Anyway, I wouldn't class Martha as a fashion blogger, more a bit of everything, she's got 3 or 4 kids so I'm sure she's always washing and that the kids use various tablets and apps, so imo she's the perfect fit to advertise those products. Same goes for DLAM.

CadyHeron · 02/04/2018 20:56

Sorry,sorry, bold bit.I bet she thinks REALLY highly of you too. Are you "all that?" Or a little bit rubbish too?

Have you seen just how low dlams engagement is? She's not all that.

Mumofkids · 02/04/2018 21:02

@sofialemon
There is no tone to text. But asking others to explain why it's so bad when they've said nothing wrong is a bit off.

@cady it means she has a fairly low engagement for the level of ads she's getting and doing. It's observational. Other accounts have far higher engagement.

Sofialemon · 02/04/2018 21:09

Actually having looked DLAM's Ariel ad it is a great example of just how obvious the actual ads are. The content of that has blatantly been set out by Ariel, it obviously not only had to feature the product but a very specific image and text description re washing at 30.

These posts generally get way fewer likes and interaction than the general posts instgrammers feature as no one has any interest in the product if its the likes of washing detergent, breakfast cereal, and generally products we all tend to buy (or not) anyway.

I assume the bloggers agree to feature them as the financial gain is too much to say no to. It does no harm to them as long as it's not constant, if they do post too many then they'll no doubt loose followers but that's their choice.

Areyouinthegame · 02/04/2018 21:10

Yes hardly good payback for Ariel

Mumofkids · 02/04/2018 21:23

To my mind Marthas ads have been snappysnaps (no idea what it is!) drink honest and very. I've no feeling about her doing any of them and they were all clearly ads. People discussed her featuring items in stories whichbthen disappeared but on the grid they weren't listed as.

Sofialemon · 02/04/2018 21:44

@Mumofkids

There was definitely an overall tone of disapproval, In the comments made re the big ads placed by DLAM and Martha. I really can't be bothered yo scroll back to copy and paste them but I can if you want. Maybe it was just me that took it like that.

Sofialemon · 02/04/2018 21:45

@Areyouinthegame

It's irrelevant if it's good payback for Ariel.

ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg · 02/04/2018 21:48

Have to agree the engagement for DLAM is very low. I’m not sure what brands would get out of working with people with such little engagement. Is she still doing the Friday lunge?

PavlovaPrincess · 02/04/2018 21:49

She hasn't done a 'Friiiiday Luuuunge!' in ages buck

I'm glad they're gone, tbh. They were a bit cringe.

ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg · 02/04/2018 21:51

That’s good then! Went on a bit long.

Mumofkids · 02/04/2018 21:52

@sofialemon all of your posts read with a tone of disapproval. I'm not sure if that's intentional. You also asked me why I hadn't answered your point (when you'd got the wrong point and I had answered you) and said someone else (pavlova) couldn't admit they were wrong (she wasn't wrong.) I'm not sure why your posts are so aggressive and you don't apologise when you get things mixed up.
Any hint was probably in relation to the story ads that disappear, I don't think you need to get so wound up.

Areyouinthegame · 02/04/2018 21:53

Why can I not be critical about dlam in saying that she hasn't been good value for money in regards to Ariel? What's wrong with saying that?

Mumofkids · 02/04/2018 21:55

@areyouinthegame she has low engagement across her page so it's not even critical, it's observational.
