I used to hate them and then I randomly began to crave them (not pregnant)

Then again I am very grown up and to an extent my sense of aste hasn’t changed since I was in my late twenties/early thirties. Don’t like olives. Don’t like tonic water. Like really dislike the taste.

Love lots of other food thought of as adult - and have since I was a child.

Troels · 31/03/2018 19:24

I don't care for them, they taste nice on pizza. All my kids loved black olives as small children, one on each finger to eat at parties. But as they got older they aren't so keen.
Also Tonic water is blergh!

mineofuselessinformation · 31/03/2018 19:26

I don't like green ones.
Black ones are ok, but my favourite are kalamata (purple).

cushioncovers · 31/03/2018 19:26

I love them.

willothewisp17 · 31/03/2018 19:28

YANBU! couldn't think of a worse food to eat Envy

ApplesinmyPocket · 31/03/2018 19:30

Not everyone likes all types of food? What a weird thread to start.

We call it 'chatting'.

I'm trying to train myself to like the things, starting two years ago with the ones they dish out on airlines as a 'snack' - I was feeling hearty and holidayish and decided I'd have a go. This was my second taste of them in 60 years. They are a strange thing, to be sure, but not as bad as I was expecting so I'll keep going - don't they say it takes you 50 tastes to really get to like some foods?

ALongHardWinter · 31/03/2018 19:36

I love them, especially if they're stuffed with chillis.

Megsmcgoo · 31/03/2018 19:37

I love them! Especially on pizza with ham, mushroom, mozzarella and artichokes Grin

Ski4130 · 31/03/2018 19:39

I love them, so does my 7 year old dd, but my ds' loathe them.

mummyretired · 31/03/2018 19:43

Because gin. Gin and tonic and olives with lemon and garlic, lovely.

curious86 · 31/03/2018 19:44

I used to hate them but my DS started eating them from age 2 so in the end I started to try them more and now love them

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 31/03/2018 19:48

I love them. DD did as a weaning baby, but from about age 2 spits them out like poison.

lynmilne65 · 31/03/2018 19:49

It's a brilliant thread, my sister and bil can't get their head round I hate olives and every time I visit they try to force them-on me
🤬😡

JessieMcJessie · 31/03/2018 19:51

I love olives but would not wean a baby on them- too much salt. And would not be faffed with cutting them up to avert the choking risk.

Loyaultemelie · 31/03/2018 19:55

Yadnbu yuck!

PatriciaBateman · 31/03/2018 19:55

Used to hate them until tried them in Greek salad and then they slowly grew on me until I loved them.

Green & black olives
Diced cucumber, red onion, and green peppers
Crumbled feta cheese
Generous splosh of olive oil and lots of oregano

Delicious!

Fuckoffunicorn · 31/03/2018 19:57

I weaned my daughter on olives. I mean only olives. Puréed olives.

Now she’s transcended them and only eats asteroids

Willow2017 · 31/03/2018 19:57

Eurghhhh!
They are right up there with pesto in the worlds worst foods😝 slimy rank things. And dipping bread in olive oil, just why?

Marmite is fine though.

pinkmagic1 · 31/03/2018 20:01

I like them, especially with feta cheese. Prefer the black to the green as less bitter.

serenadippity · 31/03/2018 20:03

Yum

DullAndOld · 31/03/2018 20:04

" And dipping bread in olive oil, just why? "
because it's tasty ...and healthy..

JillJ72 · 31/03/2018 20:06

I used to hate them (but love extra virgin olive oil on a good salad). I now love them. But only from Greece or Italy. I don't really like Spanish olives.

Willow2017 · 31/03/2018 20:08

Ha ha its not tasty its oily!😁😁
Will agree to disagree on that.
