I hate them.

OP posts:

I agree that they are an acquired taste. They make even the driest, sourest wines taste good.

I wonder how anyone can like parsnips.

ArchchancellorsHat · 31/03/2018 18:18

Easily, they're delicious.

StewPots · 31/03/2018 18:19

Used to hate them but last 5 years or so they're something I eat, or try to eat, at least once a week. Not the fancier stuffed ones, just green ones with olive oil and feta.

Wanting them now Grin

Pootle40 · 31/03/2018 18:19

They literally give me the boke

ButchyRestingFace · 31/03/2018 18:20

Went to a freinds house for dinner last night and she gave me them, I ate them to be polite.

You are politer than me, OP.

Being held down with my nose pinched and a funnel in my mouth could not worry one down me.

ButchyRestingFace · 31/03/2018 18:20

They literally give me the boke

The dry boak or the wet boak?

speakout · 31/03/2018 18:22

I used to hate olives, certainly in my teens and early twenties, then with travel and eating out, I started having a nibble now again, just to remind myself how horrible they were.
Then I went through a phase of thinking they were curious, interesting. I liked the saltiness, hated the bitterness, but kept trying.

Now I adore olives, all kinds, green, stuffed, kalamata, love em all.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 31/03/2018 18:22

I'm not crazy about big, pappy green ones. I'll eat them, but much prefer plain, tiny black ones. Not stuffed, but a piece of crumbled feta alongside is nice.

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 31/03/2018 18:23

Green queen olives and a chilled glass of white - or an anchovy and black olive pizza. Perfection, IMO. Can't stand Marmite though.

TheWernethWife · 31/03/2018 18:23

Love salty green olives, hate the black ones though.

TerfsUp · 31/03/2018 18:24

people who like marmite also like olives

Hate marmite; love olives.

blueskypink · 31/03/2018 18:27

Love olives AND marmite Smile

speakout · 31/03/2018 18:28

Love olives hate marmite

Topseyt · 31/03/2018 18:29

I hated them as a child but acquired the taste for them in adulthood.

My favourites are the big green juicy ones stuffed with either a garlic clove each or a strip of anchovy.

I also love marmite and many blue cheeses. My DDs consider me weird.

GinUser · 31/03/2018 18:29

Olives, much like sausages, haggis, smoked salmon and a lot of things are firstly an acquired taste, but secondly depend a lot on quality.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 31/03/2018 18:29

I really like the black ones, but the green ones taste nasty.

deptfordgirl · 31/03/2018 18:31

I love them so much. As does my 2 year old.

incywincybitofa · 31/03/2018 18:35

Love olives can't bear the thought of biting into an egg.

WowLookAtYou · 31/03/2018 18:35

Well, if anyone's eating the ones from a jar, then I'd agree. Devil's spawn.

But fresh?! With pesto? Or lemon and coriander? Wonderful.

headinhands · 31/03/2018 18:37

I used to. I used to call them devil food. I quite like them now. I think as I've got older the taste and sourness appeals to me and was actually looking for recipes with olives in the other day.

IHaveBrilloHair · 31/03/2018 18:38

I love them, but I think Jam is nasty, devil's red sticky shit.

Iamclearlyamug · 31/03/2018 18:38

Ugh YADNBU. They are truly grim. Wouldn't eat them if I was paid to

LayerShortOfALasagne · 31/03/2018 18:41

They are lovely but only the whole ones the pitted are grim.

PompholyxOfUnknownOrigin · 31/03/2018 18:43

They are delicious. But I do think they are an adult taste. I used to love sweet stuff, now I can't be bothered with it. But savoury things like olives, marmite, pickles, preserved lemons - can't get enough of them.

JessieMcJessie · 31/03/2018 18:44

@Suburban Rhonda pimento cheese is a white hard cheese with little bits of chilli in it. Delicious.
