I'm with you OP. They're gross! XP

I like marmite but can’t do olives. I’ve tried but failed. Not sure what it is that I don’t like. I love pickles, piccalilli, gherkins, pickled onions and stuff but I think maybe it’s the oiliness. I like a vinegar-y hit.

Wildlady · 31/03/2018 18:09

@janieverton.

I'm the same love all pickles.

Delicious, big juicy Spanish black ones in olive oil, dd used to love some in her lunchbox at primary school.

Love them - as do my DC!

bastardkitty · 31/03/2018 18:11

I think you're right about marmite and olives. I hate marmite though olives have grown on me. I also think pesto is pretty horrible.

Janleverton · 31/03/2018 18:12

Maybe it’s just a let down - a savoury that’s just oil and a spot of salt? I also don’t like anchovies. The devil’s food. But love mackerel and other strong-ish fish tastes.

DramaAlpaca · 31/03/2018 18:12

I love them. So does DS, and the dog Confused

windchimesabotage · 31/03/2018 18:12

I used to hate them then randomly one day just began to love them... Same with red wine and coffee.
Not happened with Marmite yet.... not sure it every will, that is truly rank.

Shesellsseashellsontheseashore · 31/03/2018 18:12

Love them. But only acquired the taste in early adulthood. My 6 and 4 year old have been eating them since they were toddlers. They love them.

ShackUp · 31/03/2018 18:12

They're quite an acquired taste, aren't they?

Some are marinaded in quite rank dressing, and I'm more a fan of Spanish/pimento than the Greek kalamata. I used to prefer black but now I really love a big green olive.

I also really like the name Olive for a girl Grin

Hmm
safariboot · 31/03/2018 18:14

I like them. I do in general not object to oily or fatty food, maybe that's a factor.

JessieMcJessie · 31/03/2018 18:15

I love green and black ones, in all forms, but hate those purple Kalamata ones, nasty bitter things.

MickHucknallspinkpancakes · 31/03/2018 18:15

I love them but it's an acquired taste for some. What amazes me are the number of children I know that love them. I don't think I'd have liked the bitterness as a kid. But I see loads of kids happily enjoying them.

WingsOnMyBoots · 31/03/2018 18:15

I LOVE them! Black ones especially and especially stuffed with pimento cheese. My mouth is watering.

SuburbanRhonda · 31/03/2018 18:16

I knew there would be at least two posts about people’s young children Iiking them Grin

TonTonMacoute · 31/03/2018 18:16

Excuse me, but the little black Spanish couchillo olives are the food of the gods. I could scoff them like sweets, given the chance.

PinkBuffalo · 31/03/2018 18:16

Yanbu I hate olives. Even if they're 'hidden' in the meal, I can still taste it

expatinscotland · 31/03/2018 18:16

YUM, yum, YUM! More for us then!

SuburbanRhonda · 31/03/2018 18:16

What’s pimento cheese?

Longdistance · 31/03/2018 18:17

I prefer black olives, to the green ones. I do like the huge green ones with the pip inside. Great to have in a bar whilst drinking cocktails 🍸

clyde5591 · 31/03/2018 18:18

Its not compulsory to like olives - I don't like green olives but love black olives.
