Posting here for traffic. In a pickle. I’m in a hotel v close to Gatwick and I’ve been up all night with horrendous D&V. I need to travel today (not flying, thankfully, train back home) but can’t go anywhere in current state and I’ve got no Imodium. Is anyone nearby who could drop me some off? Hotel staff can’t give out medicine.

Oh and I’m not a poo troll. After the night I’ve had I never want to think about poo ever again!

Sorry not near Gatwick so can’t help, but surely if you are vomiting Imodium won’t help you? Could you stay where you are for the day?

User24689 · 28/03/2018 05:58

You poor thing. I'm nowhere near but bumping for you x

Racoonworld · 28/03/2018 06:12

Also when did it start? If it’s a 24hr bug it could be finished soon or at least a bit better

NewMe18 · 28/03/2018 06:15

Call a taxi firm and ask them to drop some off

UnsuspectedItem · 28/03/2018 06:16

There's a few concierge type businesses that will go to the shop for you.

Henchman is the first the comes to mind.

If you're at a Hotel just ask their concierge however

bouncydog · 28/03/2018 06:16

I think you should stay put in case it’s something like norovirus which is highly contagious. I would telephone reception and explain that you’re very unwell and unable to leave as planned. I’ve been on a train when a fellow passenger just started being ill and it was very unpleasant for all.

UnsuspectedItem · 28/03/2018 06:17

*they will be allowed to get you stuff from the shop

UnsuspectedItem · 28/03/2018 06:17

bouncydog makes a good point. D&V is generally very contagious. Don't go on a train!

Ginandplatonic · 28/03/2018 06:18

Train won’t be much more pleasant though. Wouldn’t you be better off staying there an extra day? Both for your comfort and to avoid passing the bug on to a carriage full of people who have to use the same loo?

TinDogTavern · 28/03/2018 06:30

Thanks everyone. Haven’t puked since 4am so hoping there’s nothing more to come out that way. It’s a budget hotel so there’s no concierge services. Think it probably is contagious as my friend who I flew back with was ill on the last day. I can’t stay another day as I have work tomorrow 200 miles away. I can stump up a few extra quid for late check out though, I think, so I think I definitely need to do that. I wouldn’t get on a train if I’m still vomming as completely agree not fair on other passengers.

FlouncyDoves · 28/03/2018 06:33

Even if you’re not it’s still not fair. You take a day’s sick leave and book another night in the hotel.

speakout · 28/03/2018 06:35

I would phone 111 - you need a GP.

SandysMam · 28/03/2018 06:40

So you go on a train and spread it to every passenger...happy Easter holidays all Hmm
Please don’t travel, unless you are happy to endanger the life of the person who has just had chemo or like me, the one with kidney failure. Work will understand, book one more night in the hotel and leave tomorrow. It makes no difference if you are not vomming, it’s 48 hours clear the other end as well.

Racoonworld · 28/03/2018 06:57

I agree if you have caught this from a friend it is probably very contagious and you shouldn’t travel on a public train. It also isn’t a good idea to take Imodium if it’s a bug like that.

AnachronisticCorpse · 28/03/2018 07:00

Nope. You need to stay right where you are. Imodium won’t help. Stay in bed, keep hydrated and book another night. You won’t be going to work.

strawberrypenguin · 28/03/2018 07:01

You need to stay put and call in sick. If you go on the train you will infect loads of people - same as your friend will have done on the plane.
People like you are why D&V spreads so well

Ginmakesitallok · 28/03/2018 07:03

If your last puke was at 4 am you shouldn't be at work tomorrow!

witchofzog · 28/03/2018 07:05

I would also give the heads up to the hotel so they can take appropriate steps to protect their cleaners and the next guests

inamechangedforthispost · 28/03/2018 07:10

You shouldn't even be thinking of getting on public transport, totally unfair and unreasonable.

You need to delay all your plans by 24 hours.

musicposy · 28/03/2018 07:12

How close are you? Walking distance? DH works at Gatwick and is in today but is on public transport.

Tbh, I'd just wait it out, however grotty. I second others saying stay another night. I never think much is served by taking Imodium with a bug - your body has to clear everything out.

musicposy · 28/03/2018 07:15

Plus you really must let the staff know. Someone else will be moving into the room tonight and it could spread like wildfire throughout the hotel if not thoroughly cleaned.

I feel for you, though, nothing worse than being ill away from home.

fleaflyflo · 28/03/2018 07:16

You poor thing; it's miserable being that unwell and away from home. Hope you feel better soon

TinDogTavern · 28/03/2018 07:23

People like you are why D&V spreads so well

Whoa. Way to kick a woman when she’s down. Other people managed to offer the same advice without being quite so brutal.

I’m never sick which is why I was asking for advice on what to do and people have been really sympathetic and constructive. I’m stuck in the middle of nowhere feeling lousy so thank you to everyone for the sensible advice. I’ve puked up again and have accepted that today is a write off and I need to stay put. I’ve phoned reception and asked for bog roll and bottled water, and given them the heads up that I think checking out today will be unlikely. I’ll message work now.

God I feel like hell.
