To ask for your help - are you near Gatwick?

Posting here for traffic. In a pickle. I’m in a hotel v close to Gatwick and I’ve been up all night with horrendous D&V. I need to travel today (not flying, thankfully, train back home) but can’t go anywhere in current state and I’ve got no Imodium. Is anyone nearby who could drop me some off? Hotel staff can’t give out medicine.

Oh and I’m not a poo troll. After the night I’ve had I never want to think about poo ever again!

You poor thing, hope you start to feel better soon.

Etymology23 · 28/03/2018 07:28

Flowers how horrid for you - there’s nothing worse than not being able to be home at times like this. I hope you can get home safely whenever that becomes practicable. I would be really miserable in your position and definitely see why you’d be trying to get home, even if it’s ultimately not a very viable idea xx

BakedBeeeen · 28/03/2018 07:29

Hope you feel better soon. Definitely don't travel!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 28/03/2018 07:31

Keep hydrated OP, hope you make a speedy recovery. 🌺🌺🌺

Ginandplatonic · 28/03/2018 07:34

Poor you OP. Hope you’re feeling better soon! It feels so much worse being ill in a strange place. Train travel will be awful for days I’d imagine - can you hire a car?? At least you can take it at your own pace then. Costs an arm and a leg to hire from one place and leave in another though. Or anyone who can come down and get you? Flowers

TinDogTavern · 28/03/2018 07:35

Thanks everyone. I think I knew when I posted that as much as practical advice I was looking for a bit of a handhold. Thanks MN Flowers

There’s no way I could afford to hire a car, not least as it looks like I’ll have to find the £ for another night. It would be a 7 hr round trip to be picked up, I think I’m just going to have to tough it out. I don’t mind the poo so much as the chundering. It’s just GRIM.

Sorry OP, I just get massively defensive when I see threads like this as I nearly died from a bug (chronic condition, you will be fine). Really hope you feel better, try to just rest and not worry about anything past the next 12 hours Flowers

NorbertTheDragon · 28/03/2018 07:38

Oh no, that sounds grim. You definitely need to stay put and recover. I am near Gatwick, but am busy today. Hope you manage to get anything you need and recover quickly.

PlateOfBiscuits · 28/03/2018 07:39

What will a GP do speakout? OP said it was a big, she just needs to wait it out.

Rachie1986 · 28/03/2018 07:42

Oh OP, this is my absolute worst nightmare. I'm so sorry this has happened. Hope you feel better soon!

On a more practical note, could you ask for a pack of wipes or cleaner if you feel up to making the bathroom feel a bit cleaner? Just for your own benefit? It's up to you though x

rothbury · 28/03/2018 07:44

Is it possible that your travel insurance might pay out for the cost of the extra night in the hotel?

You have made the right decision OP. Please just stay were you are until it passes.

TinDogTavern · 28/03/2018 07:45

No worries @sandysmam, I understand. Flowers

You do understand how d and v works?
It's the body's natural way of removing bacteria/viruses from the body. Don't trap it in with Imodium, the worse thing you can do for your own recovery.

TinDogTavern · 28/03/2018 07:54

Thanks all re offers of Imodium but I’ve taken pp’s advice about letting it take its course and not trying to travel. Amazon Prime is a good shout, I don’t have an account but my sister does. I’ve got some bits and pieces of food should I get any sort of appetite back today....

Stay where you are. You have to phone in sick to your work anyway as you need 48 hours without being sick etc. Dont get on the train as apart from anything else the smells of food etc will not make the journey nice and have you see train toilets. On top of this its not fair on anyone else on the train who most likely get sick as a result of you being on the train just in time for easter. Get well soon but stay in bed x

Tainbri · 28/03/2018 07:58

Hope you feel better soon op Flowers

Whatshallidonowpeople · 28/03/2018 07:59

Why do you all think people can't go to work for 48 hours? It's nonsense

Tailfeather · 28/03/2018 08:02

Oh bless you. Nothing worse - especially so far from home. Fingers crossed the hotel take pity on you and don't charge you for an extra night. Really hope you feel better soon. X

I imagine to stop infecting others.

Not without a doctor’s note.

TittyGolightly · 28/03/2018 08:05

Its a standard exclusion. It’s to prevent 5, 10, 15 more people picking up the bug. Hardly rocket science.

musicposy · 28/03/2018 08:09

I think that's the best thing. Even Travelodges often have vending machines with fizzy drinks - might be worth seeing if the staff could get you one. You want the full sugar kind (if govt hasn't put paid to them yet) as it will help replace lost sugars. But I'd give it a while and only sip it.

Hope you feel better very soon.
